Newport Central Catholic coach Jake Luhn started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Ryan Barth, 5-9 So. Ian Mann, 6-4 Sr. Nick Rouse, 5-7 Sr. Luke Runyon, and 5-7 Sr. Coby Kramer. Madison Southern coach Bill Bevins countered with 6-3 Jr. Jay Rose, 6-1 Jr. Zach Hudson, 6-5 Sr. Brett Erslan, 5-8 So. Casen Nobbe, and 6-0 Jr. Braden Hudson.

Madison Southern led Newport Central Catholic 26-24 at halftime but outscored the Thoroughbreds 31-17 in the third quarter on their way to a 77-61 victory. There were four ties and four lead changes in this game. Madison Southern shot 50.9% from the field including seven of 22 from the three point line. The Eagles connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 20 Newport Central Catholic turnovers. Newport Central Catholic shot 37.9% from the field including 10 of 33 from beyond the arc. The Thoroughbreds connected on seven of eight free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 17 Madison Southern turnovers.

Jay Rose led Madison Southern with 28 points including seven of seven free throws, seven rebounds, and three steals. Zach Hudson added 17 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and four assists. Braden Hudson recorded seven points including two three point baskets, and five assists. Casen Nobbe chipped in with six points and six assists. Brett Erslan added four points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Luke Runyon led Newport Central Catholic with 16 points, two rebounds, and two steals. Coby Kramer added 11 points including three three point baskets, two assists, and two steals. 5-11 Jr. JJ Luhn recorded 10 points including two three point baskets and three rebounds. Ian Mann chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and five assists. Nick Rouse added eight points and five rebounds. 5-8 So. Louie Collopy recorded eight points including two three point baskets and two assists.
