Male coach Tim Haworth started the following lineup: 6-2 Fr. Cole Edelen, 6-2 Sr. Meechie White, 6-5 So. Jayson Gasaway, 5-11 Sr. Jack Edelen, and 5-11 Jr. Max Gainey. Trinity coach Mike Szabo countered with 6-5 Fr. Jayden Johnson, 6-3 Jr. Drae Vasser, 6-4 Jr. Alex Johnson, 6-2 Sr. CJ Walls, and 6-2 Sr. Cam McClain.
Male defeated Trinity 67-65 in two overtimes. Jack Edelen’s three point basket with 21 seconds left on the clock proved to be the winning basket. Trinity had one last opportunity but Drae Vasser missed a running hook shot in the lane. This was a game of thrills as Trinity’s CJ Walls hit a three pointer with 47 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 51-51. Cole Edelen missed a potential game winner at the buzzer for Male and the game went to overtime. Drae Vasser hit a three point basket with two seconds remaining to tie the score at 60-60 and force the second overtime. Male shot 46.9% from the field including 10 of 23 from the three point line. The Bulldogs connected on 11 of 15 free throws and pulled down 27 rebounds. Trinity shot 44,6% from the field including nine of 22 from beyond the arc. The Shamrocks connected on six of eight free throws and pulled down 31 rebounds.
Jack Edelen led Male with 24 points including four three point baskets. Cole Edelen added 14 points including four three point baskets. Jayson Gasaway recorded 13 points including six of eight free throws and pulled down eight rebounds. Meechie White added 12 points and eight rebounds.
CJ Walls led Trinity with 24 points including four three point baskets and nine rebounds. Cam McClain added 16 points including four three point baskets. Drae Vasser recorded 13 points and 11 rebounds. Jayden Johnson chipped in with six points and six rebounds.
