Scott County vs. Great Crossing (Boys) February 28th Great Crossing High School

Scott County coach Tim Glenn started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Nick Mosby, 6-1 Sr. Tim Glenn, 6-4 Jr. Lamarion McGrapth, 5-8 Sr. JZ Middleton, and 5-10 Sr. DaQuis Brown. Great Crossing coach Steve Page countered with 6-7 Jr. Jeremiah Godfrey, 6-5 So. Vince Dawson III, 6-11 So. Malachi Moreno, 6-0 So, Christian Martin, and 6-4 So. Gage Richardson.

Great Crossing trailed 14-10 at halftime but outscored Scott County 26-8 in the third quarter on their way to a 53-42 victory. There were two ties and three lead changes in this game. Great Crossing shot 42.2% from the field including two of nine from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Scott County turnovers. Scott County shot 40.5% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on eight of nine free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored eight points off nine Great Crossing turnovers.

Vince Dawson III led Great Crossing with 19 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Malachi Moreno added 12 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists. 5-9 So. Junius Burrell recorded 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Jeremiah Godfrey chipped in with eight points, five rebounds, and three steals.

Micah Glenn led Scott County with 18 points including two three point baskets, four of five free throws, four rebounds, and three steals. Nick Mosby added 15 points, six rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals. DaQuis Brown recorded six points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.

Frederick Douglass defeated Lexington Christian Academy by the score of 67-50. Frederick Douglass shot 49% from the field including 10 of 19 from beyond the arc. The Broncos connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 10 Lexington Christian Academy turnovers. Lexington Christian Academy shot 45.7% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored six points off nine Frederick Douglass turnovers.

Armelo Boone led Frederick Douglass with 23 points including five three point baskets, 11 rebounds, four assists, four blocked shots, and three steals. Aveion Chenault added 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Kai Simpson recorded 11 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Tylon Webb chipped in with nine points and three rebounds. Logan Busson recorded six points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Tyler Hall led Lexington Christian Academy with 23 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, and two assists. Andersen Green added eight points and five rebounds.

The Knights connected on 19 of 22 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 15 points off eight Madison Southern turnovers. Madison Southern shot 36.7% from the field including nine of 29 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on five of six free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored nine points off eight Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Reece Potter led Lexington Catholic with 26 points, seven rebounds, and five blocked shots. Hudson Sparks added 17 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Tyler Doyle recorded 17 points, four rebounds, and four assists.

Jay Rose led Madison Southern with 17 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and three assists. Zach Hudson added 12 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Braden Hudson recorded 10 points including two three point baskets. Casen Nobbe chipped in with six points on two three point baskets and three assists.

Madison Central defeated Western Hills by the score of 87-51. Madison Central shot 51.5% from the field including 12 of 30 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on five of six free throws, and pulled down 43 rebounds.

Jaylen Davis led Madison Central with 31 points including five three point baskets and four rebounds. Jayden West added 24 points and eight rebounds. Robby Todd recorded 18 points including two three point baskets and 16 rebounds. Eli Steele pulled down nine rebounds.

Elijah Thompson led Western Hills with 14 points. David Jackson added 13 points. Walter Campbell recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds. Javeon Campbell chipped in with eight points.

The Broncos connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored nine points off eight Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 37.3% from the field including three of 21 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on eight of 10 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 10 Frederick Douglass turnovers.


Kai Simpson led Frederick Douglass with 19 points including three three point baskets, seven rebounds, and five assists. Aveion Chenault added 18 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. Armelo Boone recorded 17 points including two three point baskets, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Lexington Catholic advanced to the championship game with a 48-42 victory over Great Crossing. Lexington Catholic shot 44.1% from the field including three of eight from the three point line. The Knights connected on 15 of 15 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored four points off five Great Crossing turnovers. Great Crossing shot 31.8% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc. The Warhawks connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Tyler Doyle led Lexington Catholic with 15 points including four of four free throws, five rebounds, and four assists. Reece Potter added 13 points including seven of seven free throws, four rebounds, two assists, and four blocked shots. Hudson Sparks recorded eight points including two three point baskets and four rebounds. 6-4 Rowan Williams chipped in with four points and nine rebounds.

Vince Dawson III led Great Crossing with 21 points including three three point baskets, six of six free throws, and three rebounds. Malachi Moreno added six points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots. Junius Burrell recorded six points, three rebounds, and three steals.

Armelo Boone hit a three point basket late in the game to give Frederick Douglass the 43-41 win over Lexington Catholic. Lexington Catholic had a late opportunity but could not get off a shot. The score was tied twice and there were seven lead changes in the game. Frederick Douglass shot 35.4% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line. The Broncos connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 10 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 40.5% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on five of seven free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored six points off six Frederick Douglass turnovers.

Armelo Boone led Frederick Douglass with 14 points including two three point baskets, 11 rebounds, and five assists. Kai Simpson added 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Aveion Chenault recorded nine points, four rebounds, two assists, and three blocked shots. Tylon Webb chipped in with six points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Reece Potter led Lexington Catholic with 19 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots. Tyler Doyle added six points and four assists. 6-4 Rowan Williams recorded four points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Hudson Sparks pulled down seven rebounds.
