Covington Catholic was without the services of RB Owen Leen tonight but it did not slow them down as they cruised to a 50-12 victory over Simon Kenton. Covington Catholic recorded 26 fiest downs and 480 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized four times for 30 yards. Simon Kenton recorded 13 first downs and 215 yards of total offense. The Pioneers were penalized twice for nine yards, lost two fumbles, and had two passes intercepted.
Cash Harney led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 85 yards and a touchdown on three carries. Andrew Bessler carried the ball seven times for 46 yards and a touchdown. Evan Pitzer recorded 39 yards and a touchdown on three carries. Will Michels scored on a one yard run. Evan Pitzer completed 13 of 16 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns. Noah Johnson caught four passes for 73 yards. Braylon Miller added three receptions for 56 yards. Oliver Link chipped in with three receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Bessler caught two passes for 26 yards and a touchdown. Willie Rodriguez added a 59 yard touchdown reception. Braylon Miller returned two kickoffs for 35 yards with a long return of 21 yards. Ben McEvoy returned one kickoff for 20 yards. JP Sullivan led the defense with five solo and one assisted tackles. Cash Harney added five solo tackles. Tate Kruer recorded three solo and two assisted tackles and intercepted a pass. Josh Flood chipped in with two solo and three assisted tackles. Willie Rodriguez added two solo and two assisted tackles and recovered a fumble. Braylon Miller intercepted a pass and Ben McEvoy added a recovered fumble.
Durell Turner led Simon Kenton’s ground game with 71 yards and 12 carries. Brady Lee added 27 yards on nine carries. Landon Brown recorded 18 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Brady Lee completed 12 of 17 passes for 115 yards and one touchdown with two interception. Carter Blades caught three passes for 43 yards. Tysin Weaver added two receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown. Grayson Harris recorded two receptions for 17 yards. Grayson Harris punted twice for a 40 yard average with a long punt of 48 yards. Luke Schieber returned seven kickoffs for 108 yards with a long return of 25 yards. Nathan Kitchens led the defense with four solo and three assisted tackles. Aven Bohms added three solo and three assisted tackles and recovered a fumble. Jack Giordano and Aba Selm each recorded four solo and one assisted tackles.
