Evan Pitzer hit Willie Rodriguez with a 21 yard pass and Rodriguez got in the end zone with 13 seconds remaining on the clock to give Covington Catholic a 31-24 victory over Dixie Heights. Covington Catholic recorded 23 first downs and 358 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized once for five yards and did not commit any turnovers. Dixie Heights recorded 20 first downs and 284 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized five times for 51 yards and did not commit any turnovers.
Owen Leen led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 55 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Evan Pitzer completed carried the ball 12 times for 48 yards and a touchdown. Evan Pitzer completed 18 of 25 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Braylon Miller caught nine passes for 128 yards. Willie Rodriguez added three receptions for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Oliver Link recorded three receptions for 33 yards. Noah Johnson caught two passes for 36 yards. Braylon Miller returned one punt for eight yards. Braylon Miller returned two kickoffs for 64 yards with a long return of 38 yards. Tate Kruer led the defense with 12 solo and one assisted tackles. Josh Flood recorded five solo and three assisted tackles. Cash Harney added five solo and one assisted tackles. Willie Rodriguez recorded four solo and two assisted tackles.
Armani Gregg led Dixie Heights’ ground game with 124 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries. David Anderson carried the ball 13 times for 41 yards. Armani Gregg completed nine of 16 passes for 118 yards. David Anderson caught two passes for 22 yards. Hudson Blank caught two passes for 20 yards. Kabanza Mwamba and Lamieqe Mutongwiza each caught one pass for 22 yards. Nolan Goetz added a reception for 17 yards. David Anderson returned two kickoffs for 95 yards with a long return of 67 yards. Tyson Beach returned one kickoff for 19 yards. Miguel Rodriguez led the defense with six solo tackles. Brach Rice and Max Neal each recorded five solo and one assisted tackles. Blake Dodds chipped in with four solo tackles.
