Madison Central coach Scott True started the following lineup: 5-7 Sr. Eden Carter, 5-7 Jr. Brooke Campbell, 5-9 Jr. Cameryn Ridderikhoff, 5-7 Jr. Brittany Campbell, and 5-6 Jr. Nataya Strader. Great Crossing coach Candace Wells countered with 5-8 Sr. Olivia Tierney, 5-6 Jr. Jaelle Henderson, 5-11 Sr. Ava Schureman, 5-3 8th Grade Kendall Kearney, and 5-5 Fr. Nia Carr.
Madison Central trailed by seven in the first quarter but pulled away late for a 75-59 victory over Great Crossing. The score was tied six times and there were 14 lead changes in the game. Madison Central shot 48.9% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line. The Lady Indians connected on 24 of 29 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 19 Great Crossing turnovers. Great Crossing shot 39% from the field including seven of 18 from beyond the arc. The Lady Warhawks connected on six of seven free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 15 Madison Central turnovers. (Great Crossing was without 6-1 Jr. Kennedy Harrison who is averaging a double-double but was out tonight with an illness).
Brittany Campbell led Madison Central with 26 points including seven of eight free throws, seven rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. Cameryn Ridderikhoff added 22 points including nine of nine free throws, four rebounds, and two steals. Nataya Strader recorded 12 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and two steals. 5-7 Sr. Olivia Metcalfe chipped in with seven points including two three point baskets and was instumental in keeping Madison Central in the game when Great Crossing took an early lead. Eden Carter added six points and five rebounds. Brooke Campbell recorded four rebounds, four assists, and two steals while excelling on defense.
Ava Schureman led Great Crossing with 14 points including five of six free throws and four rebounds. Nia Carr added 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Standout 8th Grader Kendall Kearney recorded 10 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and four assists. Olivia Tierney recorded eight points, four rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
