Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Brady Hussey, 6-0 Jr. Nolan Ruthsatz, 6-9 Sr. Caden Miller, 5-11 So. Cash Harney, and 5-11 So. Athens McGillis. Lakota East coach Clint Adkins countered with 6-2 So. Luke Shaw, 6-1 Sr. Bayze Wieland, 6-7 Sr. Derek Johnson, 6-0 Jr. Trey Perry, and 6-0 Sr. Elijah Perry.

Brady Hussey connected on two free throws late in the game to give Covington Catholic a 60-59 victory over Lakota East. Covington Catholic led 40-25 in the third quarter but had to rally to earn the come-from-behind victory. The score was tied three times and there were six lead changes in the game. Covington Catholic shot 53.7% from the field including seven of 14 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on nine of 10 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 10 Lakota East turnovers. Lakota East shot 46% from the field including seven of 14 from beyond the arc. The Thunderhawks connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 Covington Catholic turnovers.

Athens McGillis led Covington Catholic with 19 points including four of four free throws, and three steals. Cash Harney added 14 points including two three point baskets, eight assists, and four steals. Brady Hussey recorded 14 points including two three point baskets, and eight rebounds. Caden Miller chipped in with six points, six rebounds, nine blocked shots, and two steals. 6-2 Sr. Noah Johnson added six points on two three point baskets and two assists.

Trey Perry led Lakota East with 25 points including two three point baskets, five of eight free throws, two rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Derek Johnson added 16 points including four three point baskets, and four rebounds. 6-5 Sr. Ty Smyers recorded seven points and two rebounds. Bayze Wieland chipped in with seven points and two rebounds.
