Harlan County coach Kyle Jones started the following lineup: 6-6 Sr. Trent Noah, 6-3 Jr. Jaycee Carter, 6-4 Sr. Caleb Johnson, 6-2 Jr. Maddox Huff, and 6-2 So. Reggie Cottrell. Frederick Douglass coach Stephon Harris countered with 6-4 Jr. Armelo Boone, 6-3 Jr. Aveion Chenault, 6-4 So. DeMarcus Surratt, 5-8 Jr. Christopher Wright, and 6-2 Jr. Logan Busson.
Frederick Douglass defeated Harlan County by the score of 79-69. Frederick Douglass shot 50.8% from the field including 11 of 23 from the three point line. The Broncos connected on two of seven free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 15 Harlan County turnovers. Harlan County shot 46% from the field including 10 of 22 from beyond the arc. The Black Bears connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 Frederick Douglass turnovers.
Armelo Boone led Frederick Douglass with 28 points including three three point baskets, 10 rebounds, and three steals. DeMarcus Surratt added 22 points including five three point baskets, seven rebounds, and two assists. Aveion Chenault recorded 18 points including two three point baskets, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Logan Busson chipped in with six points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Trent Noah led Harlan County with 30 points including three three point baskets, nine of nine free throws, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Maddox Huff added 17 points including four three point baskets, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Jaycee Carter recorded 10 points including two three point baskets and two rebounds. Reggie Cottrell chipped in with nine points, two rebounds, and two steals.
