Madison Southern vs. Franklin County (Girls) (Franklin County High School)

Madison Southern coach Josh Curtis started the following lineup: 5-10 So. Laci Sandlin, 5-8 8th Grade Briana Hensley, 5-10 Sr. Bailey Hensley, 5-5 Jr. Ashlan Estep, and 5-4 So. Hadley French. Franklin County coach Joey Thacker countered with 6-1 Sr. Rachel Shropshire. 5-8 Jr. Madison Jackson, 6-2 Jr. Juliana Frazee, 5-7 So. Logan Kennedy, and 5-6 Jr. Leia Hogan,

Franklin County defeated Madison Southern by the score of 67-45. Franklin County shot 54.3% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line. The Lady Flyers connected on 12 of 22 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Madison Southern turnovers. Madison Southern shot 33.3% from the field including seven of 23 from beyond the arc. The Lady Eagles connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 11 Franklin County turnovers.

Leia Hogan led Franklin County with 17 points including four three point baskets, five rebounds, and three steals. Juliana Frazee added 12 points, four rebounds, and two blocked shots. 6-0 Jr. Keyonna Taylor recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Logan Kennedy chipped in with eight points, six rebounds, and five assists. Madison Jackson added eight points, five rebounds, and three steals. Great Crossing vs. Madison Central (Girls) (Madison Central High School)

Great Crossing coach Matt Walls started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Ava Schureman, 5-8 Sr. Olivia Tierney, 6-1 Jr. Kennedy Harrison, 5-3 8th Grade Kendall Kearney, and 5-6 Jr. Jaelle Henderson. Nataya Strader hit a runner in the lane in the closing seconds to give Madison Central a 42-41 victory over Great Crossing. Great Crossing led by six points early in the final quarter and had a late 41-40 lead on a basket by Olivia Tierney setting the stage for Stader’s game winning heroics. There were two ties and four lead changes in the game. Madison Central shot 38.1% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line. The Lady Indians connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 22 Great Crossing turnovers. Great Crossing shot 35% from the field including zero of eight from beyond the arc. The Lady Warhawks connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 16 Madison Central turnovers.

Nataya Strader led Madison Central with 22 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and three steals. Cameryn Ridderikhoff added 13 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals. 5-4 So. Jordynn Miles recorded six points, three rebounds, and five steals. Brooke Campbell recorded seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Olivia Tierney led Great Crossing with 17 points including seven of 10 free throws, and four steals. Ava Schureman added eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals. 5-5 Fr. Nia Carr recorded six points and three rebounds. Kennedy Harrison added two points and 18 rebounds.

The Knight connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 10 Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 35.2% from the field including eight of 27 from beyond the arc. The Broncos connected on four of 12 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Rowan Williams led Lexington Catholic with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists. Tyler Doyle added 13 points, three assists, and five steals. Miller Williams recorded 10 points and two rebounds.

Great Crossing defeated Madison Southern by the score of 85-64. Great Crossing shot 52.4% from the field including seven of 19 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on 12 of 13 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 10 Madison Southern turnovers. Madison Southern shot 42.9% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on 10 of 11 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored five points off 12 Great Crossing turnovers.

Malachi Moreno led Great Crossing with 28 points on nine of nine from the field and 10 of 11 from the free throw line, 15 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Vince Dawson III added 25 points including three three point baskets, seven rebounds, and three assists. Junius Burrell recorded 15 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, and five assists. Jeremiah Godfrey chipped in with eight points, three rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Frederick Douglass coach Daryl Moberly started the following lineup: 5-10 Fr. Jaylee Knowles, 5-9 Jr. Amayah Maxwell, 6-2 Sr. Ayanna-Sarai Darrington, 5-3 Jr. Kate Baker, and 5-7 Jr. Niah Rhodes. Franklin County rallied from a 33-29 deficit at the end of three quarters to outscore Frederick Douglass 24-13 in the final quarter to earn an emotional victory for Coach Thacker by the score of 53-46. Franklin County’s Leia Hogan would not be denied in the comeback as she tallied 16 of her game high 19 points in the final quarter. There were seven lead changes and five ties in this game. Franklin County shot 40.5% from the field including six of 17 from the three point line. The Lady Flyers connected on 17 of 25 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 10 Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 38.5% from the field including five of 11 from beyond the arc. The Lady Broncos connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored seven points off five Franklin County turnovers.

Leia Hogan led Franklin County with 19 points including four three point baskets, three of four free throws, three rebounds, and two assists. Juliana Frazee added 15 points including seven of eight free throws, four rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Rachel Shropshire recorded 11 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and two steals. Logan Kennedy chipped in with four points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

Ayanna-Sarai Darrington led Frederick Douglass with 13 points including nine of 13 free throws, 13 rebounds, and two assists. Amayah Maxwell added 10 points and five rebounds. Vince Dawson III hit a three point basket at the buzzer gave Great Crossing a 56-53 victory over Lexington Catholic in a packed gym tonight. Dawson had nailed another three point basket with 32 seconds remaining to tie the game at 53-53. Lexington Catholic led 33-24 late in the first half and the score was tied seven times with 11 lead changes. Great Crossing shot 60.5% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored six points off four Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 38.9% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on five of five free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 10 Great Crossing turnovers.

Vince Dawson III led Great Crossing with 23 points including two three point baskets, and nine rebounds. Junius Burrell added 13 points including two three point baskets, and four assists. Malachi Moreno recorded 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and four blocked shots. Jeremiah Godfrey chipped in with four points, two rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Tyler Doyle led Lexington Catholic with 25 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and three assists.
