Boyd County exploded for 28 points in the final quarter to pull away for a 49-13 victory over Rowan County. Boyd County recorded 14 first downs and 221 yards of total offense. The Lions were penalized five times for 40 yards and lost a fumble. Rowan County recorded 14 first downs and 297 yards of total offense. The Vikings were penalized three times for 18 yards and had four passes intercepted.
Marcus Brumfield led Boyd County’s ground game with 127 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Erik Germann carried the ball twice for 23 yards. Hunter Hedrick recorded 13 yards on two carries. John Walters carried the ball once for four yards and a touchdown. Rhett Holbrook chipped in with two yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Rhett Holbrook completed six of 10 passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Marcus Brumfield completed two of two passes for 14 yards. Kaleb Kelley caught two passes for 19 yards. Cayden Butler added one reception for 16 yards and a touchdown. Rhett Holbrook added two receptions for 14 yards. Cole Hicks added a 10 yard touchdown reception. Erik Germann led the defense with seven solo and 11 assisted tackles. Brody Casyle added three solo and 11 assisted tackles. John Walters recorded two solo and four assisted tackles. Rgett Holbrook chipped in with three solo and one assisted tackles and scored on a three yard interception return. Kaleb Kelley intercepted two passe with 34 yards of return yardage. Jaydon DeHart intercepted a pass he returned 37 yards.
JT Judd led Rowan County’s ground game with 64 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Taner Woodman carried the ball five times for 44 yards. Jackson Hamilton recorded 30 yards on six carries. Taner Woodman completed 17 of 33 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown with four interceptions. Madden Owen caught five passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. Will Richardson added two receptions for 35 yards. Jackson Hamilton recorded four receptions for 32 yards.
