2013 Rick Bolus Camps

I talked to Rick Bolus today and hope to have the girls awards and all camp team by late weekend and I will submit several blogs and a wrap-up on both the girls and first boys camp.  I hope to have my website report on the first boys camp complete on my site within the week.  Also, remember that Rick Bolus' second boys camp will start this Sunday night, so stay tuned for updates on this camp starting Monday evening.

Rick Bolus' 34th High Potential Blue Chip Basketball Camp

Rick Bolus’ 34th High Potential Blue Chip Basketball Camp

 

 

Tariq Muhammad – 5-8 Jr. Brooks College Prep Chicago, IL – Tariq is a “Spud Webb” type player who impressed this week, made the 2nd All-Star team roster and captured the backcourt hot-shot competition.  Tariq is a creative passer and scorer who gives 110% and has the ability to knock down the three point shot. 

 

Austin Cummins – 5-10 Jr. Anderson County Lawrenceburg, KY – Austin absolutely lit it up this week and scored 50 points in one of his league games and was selected the Top Underclassman.

 

Oliver Stroh – 6-4 graduating senior Sunrise Christian Skovlunde Denmark – Oliver is an impressive project with a big upside.

 

Cameron Taylor – 6-3 Sr. Northmont Clayton, OH – Cameron impressed with his point guard skills.

 

Cameron Sparks – 6-0 Fr. East Carter Grayson, KY – Cameron was named Junior Division Camp MVP for the week.

Some of the major awards awarded at this camp were as follows:

 

Top Underclassman:  6-0 Jr. Sandra Skinner Clark County Winchester, KY

 

Camp Runner-Up MVP:  5-4 Sr. Chelsea Rhodes Rhodes Milwaukee, WI

 

Camp MVP:  6-1 Sr. Sarah Cooley Lafayette Lexington, KY

 

Camp Junior Division MVP:  5-9 8th grade Caylynn Brewer Sacred Heart Middle Louisville, KY

 

I will add the remainder of the major awards for both divisions plus the all camp teams for both divisions when it is provided to me.

 

5-9 Jr. Adison Corder Southwestern Somerset KY impressed with her downtown range and uncanny accuracy from beyond the arc.  5-7 So. Aryn Sanders Signal Mountain, TN and 5-7 So. Lauren McBryar Mooresville, IN in the words of Rick Bolus “have game” and impressed this week.  6-2 Sr. Brooke Todd Paul Dunbar Lexington, KY was only able to be here the first day but impressed and continues to improve her game.  5-6 7th grader Jewel Smalls North Western Alpharetta GA was another impressive player in the Junior Division. 

 

Also congratulations to former campers

 

Antonita Slaughter University of Louisville who started for the D-1 college national runner-ups this year and to C’iera Ricketts who was chosen MVP of the Austrian Professional League.

Players, Coaches, Parents and Fans:
  
Over 320 players nationwide and from the United Kingdom and Denmark attended the 34th annual High Potential/Blue-Chip Basketball Camp last week at Georgetown College (KY).  The camp's MVP was 5'11 senior, Jeff Larkin from Cincinnati LaSalle (OH) who also led his team to the tournament championship. Two Runner-Up MVP's were 6-4 senior Torry Johnson of Chicago Morgan Park (IL) and 6-3 senior Dazhonetae Bennett of Trotwood Madison (OH) who put on a dunking exhibition during the Top 20 All-Star Game.  Austin Cummings, a 5-10 junior from Anderson County H.S. (KY) was selected the Camp's Top Underclassman as he had 50 points in one league game! George Ivens, a 6-9 junior from the United Kingdom, was an impressive project as was 6-4 graduating senior Oliver Stroh from Denmark.  A "Spud Webb" type player who stood out was 5-8 Tariq Muhammad from Chicago Brooks (IL).  A player with an impressive upside was 6-5 senior combo forward Dominique Harding from Elizabethtown (KY).  A talented athlete was 6-4 senior Quinton Chames from Covington Holmes (KY).  A nice point guard who stood out was 6-3 senior Cameron Taylor from Clayton Northmont (OH). In the junior division, the league's MVP was 6-0 freshman, Cameron Sparks from Grayson East Carter (KY).  A complete list of all award winners and camp all-stars will be posted soon at my web page which is www.basketball-camp.net. There are still a limited number of spots available for my final session, July 14-18.
  
On June 28-29 at Georgetown College (KY), 140 young ladies attended the High Potential Basketball Showcase Minicamp. The camp's Top Underclassman was 6-0 junior, Sandra Skinner of Clark County H.S. (KY) who was also the camp's best D-1 prospect.  However, the camp's MVP went to 6-1 senior, Sarah Cooley of Lexington Lafayette (KY). 5-4 senior mini mite, Chelsea Rhodes of Milwaukee Rhodes (WI) was chosen the camp's Runner-Up MVP.  An impressive 3 point shooter with downtown range and accuracy was 5-9 junior Adison Corder from Somerset Southwestern (KY). Two sophomores, 5-7 Aryn Sanders (Signal Mountain, TN) and 5'7 Lauren McBryar (Mooresville, IN) both have game. In the junior division, 5-9 8th grader Caylynn Brewer of Louisville Sacred Heart (KY) was selected the MVP.  All of the girls' award winners and all-stars will be posted on my web page in the near future at www.basketball-camp.net

Rick Bolus’ 34th High Potential Blue Chip Basketball Camp

 

The final day of the camp is highlighted by a single elimination tournament in both divisions.

 

Junior Division

 

The team designated Tennessee finished 6-0 in regular league play and won three games in tournament play to finish 9-0 and capture the Junior Division title with a 70-55 victory over Team Missouri.  Team Tennessee defeated Team Nevada, Team Nebraska, and Team Missouri to capture the championship.  5-9 Fr. Denilson Whitmore Siegel Murfreesboro, TN, and 6-2 Fr. Ross Tichenor Ohio County Hartford, KY were named Co-Tournament MVPs for Team Tennessee.  Tichenor was also named Game MVP. 5-8 Fr. Noah Cunningham Madisonville N. Hopkins Madisonville, KY was named Tournament Runner-Up MVP for Team Missouri.

 

High School Division

 

The team designated Pennsylvania finished 9-0 in regular league play and won four games in tournament play to finish 13-0 and capture the High School Division title with a 90-68 victory over a talented but exhausted Team Georgia team.  Team Pennsylvania defeated Team Alabama, Team Oregon, Team Arkansas, and Team Georgia to capture the championship.  5-11 Sr. Jeff Larkin LaSalle Cincinnati, OH was named Tournament MVP for Team Pennsylvania.  6-4 Sr. Elliot Dadds Itchen Southampton, UK was named Tournament Runner-Up MVP for Team Georgia.
