2019RBGMCA

Rick Bolus’ Girls Mini-Camp (June 30-July 1, 2019)

This is an abbreviated list of players making good impressions during the games I personally viewed and is definitely not a complete list and many other girls were impressive during this event.  The talent level was good at this camp with many of these girls having the opportunity to play at the college level.

5-8 Jr. Whitney Caldwell (Pineville KY) – excellent mid-range shooter who can get to the rim and step out and knock down three.  Whitney is a good free throw shooter which is important because she draws a lot of contact in the lane.

5-2 Jr. Addison Bowling (Somerset KY) – don’t let her size fool you, she is a player who directs traffic and can score in a variety of ways.

5-10 Jr. Rory O’Hara (Highlands KY) – plays hard, rebounds, scores, and always makes an impact.

6-2 Sr. Antreese Shelton (Penn IN) – true “diamond in the rough” with excellent size, good size, and high upside.

5-10 Jr. Amber Dunn (Apollo KY) – good all around skills

5-8 Sr. Payton Cronen (Assumption KY) – good shooter and skilled.

5-9 Sr. Destin Armour (Muhlenberg County KY) – good all around.

5-10 So. Alyssa Elswick (Shelby Valley KY) – deceptively quick, scores in paint and shoots the “3” ball well.

5-10 Jr. Jaclyn Emly (Silver Creek IN) – solid player with skills.

5-5 Sr. Courtney Daniels (Rossview TN) – solid ballplayer knows the game.

5-9 Sr. Kayla Gilmore (Rossview TN) – strong and athletic can be a match-up problem.

5-8 Sr. Jocelyn Spaulding (Henderson County KY) – good skills, good player.

5-9 Sr. Sydney Watkins (Heritage Christian IN) – versatile performer, good skills, excellent scorer.

6-0 So. Diana Burgher (North Harrison IN) – The sky is the limit , has size, versatility, and has guard skills.

5-5 Sr. Elizaberth Bertram (Barren County KY) – gets to the rim.

5-6 Jr. Maddy Barnes (Speedway IN) – knows the game and has good skills.

5-6 Jr. Addyson Kent (Jennings County IN) – another solid guard from Indiana.

6-0 Jr. Ella Thompson (Bethlehem KY) – relentless worker in the paint, never gives up on a play, and has a nice touch.

5-10 Jr. Macey Blevins (Wayne County KY) – good skills, relentless worker, shoots the ball, and gets to the rim at will.

5-11 Jr. Lamiah Walker (Signal Mountain TN) – combo of skills and athleticism.

5-8 Sr. Mia Beam (Christian Academy of Louisville KY) – good skills and consistent effort.

5-6 Sr. Lauren Lee (Casey County KY) – floor general who puts constant pressure on defense with decision making and penetration.

6-2 So. Rachel Presley (Somerset KY) – great size and effort in the paint.

5-8 So.  Raigan Price (Webster County) – rapidly improving player.

5-10 Sr. Elisabeth Joines (Muhlenberg County KY) – solid player.

6-2 Jr. Kelsie Woodard (Menifee County KY) – relentless rebounder.

5-5 8th Grade Trinity Rowe (Pikeville KY) – young with a good future ahead.

5-9 Sr. Maggie Croom (Rossview TN) – solid players and excellent defender.

5-9 So. Lauren Thomas (Henry Clay KY) – named “Top Sleeper” in camp with a good reason, greatly improved with good skills and versatility.

5-9 Jr. Sarah Hicks (Notre Dame Academy KY) – good solid player.

5-6 So. Caylan Mills (Knox Central KY) – good young player.

5-3 So. Lauren Meadows (Franklin County) – nice young player with good attitude, understands the game.

5-2 Sr. Molly Hester (Robertson County KY) – can shoot the ball !!

6-0 Jr. McKenzie Benton (Boone County KY) 0 good size and greatly improved.

5-4 Sr. Paige VanZant (Logan County KY) – handles the ball with confidence and competence.

5-8 Jr. Amelia Hodges (Bethlehem KY) – played well this week.

2019RBBC

Rick Bolus’ 40th Annual High Potential Blue Chip Basketball Camp (Tournament Championships Junior and High School June 29th )

Junior Division

Team Kentucky rallied from a double digit deficit entering their last rotation to upset Team Ohio by a score of 106-105 in one of the best games seen at this event over the years.  It came down to who had the ball last as player after player on both squads came up big down the stretch.  Team Ohio entered the game 10-0 and looked unbeatable all week but Team Kentucky (7-3) stayed within striking distance and claimed the championship with a surge down the stretch.  6-2 8th Grader Gerrard McCoy (U of D Jesuit Academy MI) was named Tournament Co-MVP from the victorious Team Kentucky squad.  He got ample support from 5-9 8th Grade Vincent Dawson (Georgetown Middle KY).  Several other players stepped up for the victors to earn this championship.  5-10 Fr. Eli Gover (Pulaski County KY) earned the Tournament Co-MVP Award from Team Ohio.  5-11 Fr. Barek Williams (Pulaski County KY) and 5-8 8th Grade Madox Jernigan (Muhlenberg North Middle KY) also had good tournaments for Team Ohio.

High School Division

Team Illinois defeated Team Connecticut by a score of 125-98 to claim the High School Championship.  Team Illinois entered the tournament with a record of 7-2 and went 4-0 in the tournament to finish with an 11-2 slate.  Team Connecticut finished the week with a 10-2 slate.  6-1 Sr. Quincy Murrell (Louisville Southern KY) was named the Tournament Co-MVP from the victorious Team Illinois.  6-8 Jr. Payton Sparks (Winchester IN) was named Tournament Co-MVP from Team Connecticut.
