Rick Bolus’ 40th Annual High Potential Blue Chip Basketball Camp (July 8-9 Mini-Camp)

 

This is just a brief look at some of the players who impressed today in the first day of the camp.  Many players will be added as we get to see more of both divisions tomorrow.

 

Junior Division

 

5-10 8th Grade Isaac Hosman (Massac County Metropolis IL) – excellent all around skills gets to the rim.

 

6-3 8th Grade Jhaden Vaughn (Trigg County Cadiz KY) – Solid player scores from mid-range to the rim and finishes strong in the paint.

 

5-5 8th Grade Malik Corley (LaPorte Middle School LaPorte IN) – Athletic player very effective with mid-range floater.

 

5-11 8th Grade Jordan Miles (Trigg County Cadiz KY) – Long and athletic with good skills.

 

6-1 Fr. Dylan Hammonds (Grant County Dry Ridge KY) – Good size, solid skills, and solid defender.

 

6-3 Fr. Mason Guffey (Grant County Dry Ridge KY) – Good all around skills.

 

High School Division

 

6-5 Jr. Stefan Stanic (Normandy Parma OH) – Inside-outside scorer gets it done.

 

5-9 Sr. Jamaun Clark (Paris Paris KY) – An ultra quick Point guard with a high energy level.

 

6-8 Sr. Warren Bryan (LaRue County Hodgenville KY) – 4-5 man gets results in the paint.

 

5-10 Jr. William Bryan (University Heights Academy Hopkinsville KY)  -Quick, can score, and makes things happen, forces tempo.

 

6-3 Sr. Zach Patterson (Knox Central Barbourville KY) – Athletic player with good skill package.

 

6-4 Jr. Andrew Rinn (Revere Bath Township OH) – Has good all around game.

 

5-10 Sr. Logan Lautzenheiser (DeSales Louisville KY) – Aggressive scorer who plays hard.

 

6-1 Jr. Cameron Harrison (National Trail New Paris OH) – Heady player with good skill package.

5-9 Sr. Sydney Watkins (Heritage Christian Indianapolis IN) was named Camp MVP is an athletic multi-skilled player who scores at will.  6-2 Sr. Antreese Shelton (Penn Mishawaka IN) was named Camp Runner-Up MVP is an athletic post player who runs the floor.  5-10 Jr. Macey Blevins (Wayne County Monticello KY) was named Top Underclassman has good skills, relentless worker, shoots the ball, and gets to the rim at will.  6-0 So. Diana Burgher (North Harrison Ramsey IN) athletic, scores in the paint but has outside skills and the sky is the limit.  6-0 Jr. Ella Thompson (Bethlehem Bardstown KY) is a relentless worker, never gives up on a play, and has a nice touch.  5-11 Jr. Lamiah Walker (Signal Mountain Chattanooga TN) is an athletic scorer and rebounder.  5-5 Sr. Elizabeth Bertram (Barren County Glasgow KY) is a versatile scorer who finishes at the rim.  6-2 So. Rachel Presley (Somerset Somerset KY) is an excellent young post player and a versatile scorer.  5-10 So. Alyssa Elswick (Shelby Valley Pikeville KY) is deceptively quick, runs the floor well, scores in the paint but can step out and hit the three ball.  5-6 Jr. Addyson Kent (Jennings County North Vernon IN) is deadly from the perimeter.  5-6 Sr. Lauren Lee (Casey County Liberty KY) quick guard, change of pace dribble, and can score from anywhere.  5-8 Sr. Mia Beam (Christian Academy of Louisville KY) good skills, consistent effort, and can shoot the ball.

 

5-6 Jr. Maddie Barnes (Speedway Speedway IN) is a solid point guard with good court vision and can shoot the ball.  5-8 Sr. Jocelyn Spaulding (Henderson County Henderson KY) athletic player who can score.  5-8 Jr. Whitney Caldwell (Pineville Pineville KY) excellent mid-range shooter, finishes at the rim and has range on her shot.  5-10 Jr. Amber Dunn (Apollo Owensboro KY) is a versatile scorer.  5-8 Sr. Payton Cronen (Assumption Louisville KY) is a good all around player and a good shooter.  5-9 Sr. Destin Armour (Muhlenberg County Greenville KY) is a versatile guard and provides offense.  5-10 Jr. Jaclyn Emly (Silver Creek Sellersburg IN) scorer with range on jump shot.  5-5 Sr. Courtney Daniels (Rossview Clarksville TN) PG handles the ball and finishes at the rim.  5-9 Sr. Kayla Gilmore (Rossview Clarksville TN) strong and athletic player creates a match-up problem for defenders.  Gilmore is a multi-skilled athlete who can do it all. 

 

5-9 So. Lauren Thomas (Henry Clay Lexington KY) was named Top Sleeper at camp and has improved tremendously and has excellent all around skills.  5-10 Jr. Rory O’Hara (Highlands Ft. Thomas) versatile, strong never takes a play off and makes an impact.  5-9 Jr. Sarah Hicks (Notre Dame Academy Park Hills KY) can score both inside and out.  5-2 Sr. Molly Hester (Robertson County Mt. Olivet KY) has “downtown” range on her jump shot.  5-4 Sr. Paige Vanzant (Logan County Russellville KY) is a quick point guard who handles with confidence and skill.  5-2 Jr. Addison Bowling (Somerset Somerset KY) shoots, gets to the rim, and is a good defensive player.  5-6 Jr. Kassidy Daugherty (Apollo Owensboro KY) is an excellent player with range on her jump shot.  6-2 Jr. Kelsie Woodard (Menifee County Frenchburg KY) solid in the paint and attacks the boards.  5-11 Sr. Jacqueline Raque (Assumption Louisville KY) gets results on both ends of the court.  5-10 Sr. Elisabeth Joines (Muhlenberg County Greenville KY) aggressive point guard gets results.  5-11 So. Kailey Owens (Middlesboro Middlesboro KY) youngster with bright future.  5-10 Sr. Rebecca Berry (South Vermillion Clinton IN) attacks boards and finishes in the paint.

 

This was an abbreviated list with several other players making good impressions.  Rick Bolus will release his camp report in the near future with observations on all players.  I was very impressed with the talent, potential, and work ethic displayed by all the campers in attendance.

High School Division Summary

 

There were several talented players in this division with several players making good impressions and seemingly destined for excellent seasons.  6-7 Sr. Lincoln Bush (George Rogers Clark Winchester KY) was named Camp MVP and has all the physical tools, runs the floor, jumps, and can be an impact player on both ends of the court.  6-8 Sr. Zach Benton (Montgomery County Mt. Sterling KY) was named Camp Runner-Up MVP has a good basketball IQ and shoots the ball.  6-8 Jr. Payton Sparks (Winchester Winchester IN) has the size, strength, and agility and is a load in the paint.  5-9 8th Grade Ty Price (Warren East Bowling Green KY) has all the tools and the sky is the limit for this talented youngster.  6-3 Jr. Camden Pfeister (Southern Louisville KY) opened a lot of eyes at this camp with his athleticism and ability to score from anywhere on the floor.  6-6 So. Rylee Samons (Pikeville Pikeville KY) can jump and is a versatile scorer with an excellent upside and can also finish at the rim.  6-4 Sr. Brandon Cottrell (Clint Clint TX) is an excellent wing shooter who can finish at the rim.  6-6 Jr. Rickey Lovette (Montgomery County Mt. Sterling KY) is a long athlete with leaping ability and is a hard worker. 6-0 So. Jaxon Smith (Lincoln County Stanford KY) is a very mature multi-skilled player with a high basketball IQ.  6-5 Sr. Anthony O’Neal (Kentucky Country Day Louisville) is a wing player who can score in bunches and also rebounds well.  6-4 Sr. Anthony Perry (DeMatha Catholic Hyattsville MD) is an athletic slasher and scorer from a top basketball program.  5-10 Jr. Roman Newsome (Carlisle Carlisle OH) is a quick ball handler who shoots the ball.

 

6-9 Sr. Joe Meador (Franklin County Frankfort KY) is a long, athletic player with a lot of potential.  6-3 So. Jonathan Riley (Nelson County Bardstown KY) is quick, strong, and has good skills.  5-11 Sr. Tyler Camplin (Webster County Dixon KY) is quick and can get to the rim.  6-1 Sr. Quincy Murrell (Southern Louisville KY) has good skills and is a pure shooter.  5-11 Jr. Eathen Williams (Dr. Phillips Orlando FL) has excellent guard skills, excellent up tempo player, shoots the long ball, and gets after it on defense.  6-2 Sr. Carson Goble (Columbian Tiffin OH) has good all around skills and excellent court vision.  6-0 Jr. Blue Weidemann (Franklin Christian Academy Franklin TN) is quick, strong, and can shoot the ball.  6-2 Jr. Jaz Johnson (Wolfe County Campton KY) displayed solid skills all week, shoots the ball and is very strong.  5-11 So. Aaron Wilson (Corliss Chicago IL) is quick and talented.6-0 So. Emerson Fussell (Obion County Central Troy TN) is an excellent shooter from long range.  5-11 So. Laithan Hall (Pikeville Pikeville KY) penetrates and shoots the ball. 6-5 Jr. Nolan Burney (Carlisle Carlisle OH) is a good inside/outside player who hits the boards.

 

This is just an abbreviated list with several other players making good impressions.  This was a good talented group with good skills and excellent work ethics.

Junior Division Summary

 

There were several talented players in the junior division with several destined for future stardom.  5-11 Fr. Barek Williams (Pulaski County Somerset KY) was named Camp MVP, All Star Game Co-MVP, Front Line free throw champ, and Front Line 3-Point shooting champ.  Williams is a multi-skilled player and a deadly scorer.  6-2 8th Grade Gerrard McCoy (U of D Jesuit Academy Detroit MI) was named Camp Runner-Up MVP and Tournament Co-MVP.  McCoy is agile and skilled and deadly in the paint with a great upside.  5-10 Fr. Eli Gover (Pulaski County Somerset KY) was named Top Rebounder and Tournament Co-MVP.  Gover plays hard, attack the rim, and is a versatile scorer with a very high upside.  5-8 8th Grade Madox Jernigan (Muhlenberg North Middle Greenville KY) is an excellent scorer with range on his shot and is very athletic.  5-9 8th Grade Vincent Dawson (Georgetown Middle School Georgetown KY) is a silky smooth backcourt man with a bright future.  5-2 7th Grade Saxton Howard (Lexington Christian Academy Lexington KY) is young with excellent guard skills and a deadly free throw shooter.  6-1 8th Grade Zachary Ort (Upton Middle Saint Joseph MI) is a “windex man” who attacks the boards and is an excellent defender, watch in the future.  6-0 Fr. Ta’Marcus Eaves (Hopkins County Central Nortonville KY) is an athletic player with an excellent jump shot. 5-6 8th Grade Devante Jefferson (Bracken County Brooksville KY) point guard slashes, penetrates, and finishes at the rim.  5-9 8th Grade Collier Fuller (Pikeville Pikeville KY) goods skills and high basketball IQ.  5-5 Fr. Rickey Davenport (Leo Chicago IL) is an excellent floor general who excels on defense.

 

There were others in this division who impressed with a good mixture of playmakers, scorers, and some good size and strength even at this age.  The future looks bright with this class moving up.
