Eastern Kentucky utilized a punishing ground game and a defense that managed to at least keep Tennessee State University’s vaunted air attack under control in a 42-16 victory.  Eastern Kentucky recorded 22 first downs and 525 yards of total offense.  The Colonels rolled up 379 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.  The Colonels were penalized eight times for 74 yards.  Tennessee State recorded 20 first downs and 382 yards of total offense.  The Tigers recorded 270 yards through the air but the Colonels kept them from the end zone through the air.  The Tigers were penalized 10 times for 92 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.

Daryl McCleskey led Eastern Kentucky’s ground game with 202 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.  Alonzo Booth carried the ball 12 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns.  Parker McKinney scored a touchdown on the ground.  Parker McKinney completed 13 of 24 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.  Keyion Dixon caught four passes for 44 yards.  Daryl McCleskey also caught four passes for 31 yards.  Jackson Beerman recorded three receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.  Jerome Gross returned three punts for 47 yards with a long return of 29 yards and Davion Ross returned a kickoff for 38 yards.  Aaron Patrick led the defense with three solo and five assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 13 yards.  Corey Glass also recorded three solo and five assisted tackles.  Malik Mays recovered a fumble he returned 64 yards and intercepted a pass.  Daulson Fitzpatrick intercepted a pass he returned 28 yards.  Taquan Evans chipped in with three solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss.

Seth Rowland led Tennessee State’s ground game with 71 yards on eight carries.  Te’kendrick Roberson carried the ball 14 times for 20 yards and a touchdown.  Cameron Rosendahl completed 20 of 41 passes for 270 yards with two interceptions.  Chris Rowland caught eight passes for 95 yards.  Lawrence Segree added three receptions for 37 yards.  Steven Newbold recorded two receptions for 55 yards.  Kaleb Mosley punted five times for a 47.4 average with a long punt of 61 yards with two punts inside the 20 yard line.  Antonio Zita kicked field goals of 28, 35, and 36 yards.  Ronnie Killings led the defense with six solo and three assisted tackles.  Josh Green added six solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a one yard loss.  Rhashaun Epting recorded three solo and four assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling six yards.

Covington Catholic rolled up 420 yards of total offense on their way to a 45-6 victory over Cooper.  Covington Catholic recorded 15 first downs and 420 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized twice for 16 yards.  Cooper recorded six first downs and 93 yards of total offense.  The Jaguars were penalized once for five yards.

Michael Boydston led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 82 yards on five carries.  Reid Hummel carried the ball eight times for 59 yards and one touchdown.  Daniel Felix recorded 39 yards and two touchdowns on five carries.  Caleb Jacob completed 10 of 13 passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns.  Michael Mayer caught four passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns.  Ethan Reardon added three receptions for 58 yards and one touchdown.  Andy Molique caught three passes for 36 yards.  Michael Mayer led the defense with two solo and two assisted tackles.  Noah Powers, Jackson Hodge, and Luke Stegman each recorded two solo tackles.

#17 led Cooper’s ground game with 56 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.  Jeremiah Lee completed five of nine passes for 19 yards.  Drew Warth completed three of six passes for 22 yards.  Xavier Smith caught two passes for five yards.  Jayce Hotchkiss and Chester Hale each caught one pass for 12 and 11 yards respectively.  Jeremiah Lee returned two kickoffs for 44 yards.  Xavier Smith returned one kickoff for 43 yards.  Chester Hale led the defense with eight solo tackles.  Jake Harmeyer added six solo and three assisted tackles.  Alex McEachem recorded six solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a two yard loss.

Frederick Douglass utilized their rock-solid defense and a cast of big play performers on offense to defeat Scott County by a score of 36-0.  This was a game between two bitter rivals in Central Kentucky with big implications in the race for top honors in Class 5A this season.  Tonight featured the Broncos dominating defense and a one handed circus catch on a 17 yard touchdown pass from Josh McClurg to Dane Key.  Frederick Douglass recorded 18 first downs and 371 yards of total offense.  The Broncos were penalized six times for 40 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.  Scott County recorded 10 first downs and 191 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized six times for 65 yards.

Josh McClurg led Frederick Douglass’ ground game with 103 yards on 15 carries.  Cameron Dunn carried the ball five times for 81 yards and two touchdowns.  Devin Neal added 58 yards and a touchdown on six carries.  Darius Neal chipped in with 31 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.  Josh McClurg completed four of eight passes for 56 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Devin Neal caught two passes for 27 yards.  Dane Key caught a 17 yard touchdown pass.  Devin Neal led the defense with seven solo tackles.  Dalyn Wilson added six solo and two assisted tackles.  Jaylin Bybee recorded six solo tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.

Phillip Garner led Scott County’s ground game with 62 yards on 19 carries.  Jeremy Hamilton carried the ball seven times for 33 yards.  Bronson Brown recorded 32 yards on 11 carries.  Cade McKee completed one of five passes for 48 yards.  Mikaleb Coffey completed his only pass for 30 yards.  Micah McClave and Bronson Brown each caught one pass for 48 and 30 yards respectively.  Mikaleb Coffey returned four kickoffs for 80 yards.  Rylan Reed led the defense with five solo and four assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a two yard loss.  Sam Daniel added four solo tackles.  Campton Martin recorded two solo and two assisted tackles, recovered a fumble, and intercepted a pass.

Paul Laurence Dunbar defeated Great Crossing tonight by a score of 35-6.  Paul Laurence Dunbar recorded 18 first downs and 291 yards of total offense.  The Bulldogs were penalized nine times for 91 yards and lost a fumble.  Great Crossing recorded nine first downs and 74 yards of total offense.  The Warhawks were penalized five times for 43 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Jacob Greene led Dunbar’s ground game with 73 yards on nine carries.  Mitchell Joseph carried the ball 10 times for 53 yards and three touchdowns.  Jake Smith completed 12 of 17 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns.  Jamarcus Robinson caught five passes for 85 yards and a touchdown.  Tyler Johnson added two receptions for 36 yards.  Mitchell Joseph added two receptions for 17 yards and a touchdown.  Jamarcus Robinson returned one punt for 32 yards and a kickoff for 37 yards.  Connor Smith led the defense with seven solo tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.  Howard Jackson also recorded seven solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a three yard loss.  Mario Paul added five solo tackles and recovered a fumble.  John Law recorded four solo and one assisted tackles with four of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 17 yards.  Zack Smith chipped in with two tackles which resulted in losses totaling 13 yards.  Weston Holloman intercepted a pass.

Lafayette captured their first victory of the year with a 21-13 victory over Bryan Station.  Lafayette recorded 12 first downs and 246 yards of total offense.  The Generals were penalized 11 times for 88 yards, lost two fumbles, and had one pass intercepted.  Bryan Station recorded 10 first downs and 138 yards of total offense.

JaeWON Kendrick led Lafayette’s ground game with 104 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.  Oumar Toure carried the ball 11 times for 98 yards and a touchdown.  Tanner Pace completed three of 10 passes for 20 yards.  Noah Curtsinger caught two passes for 12 yards.  JC Shegog added one reception for eight yards.  JC Shegog returned two kickoffs for 33 yards and Austin Anderson returned one kickoff for 23 yards.  Jay Brank led the defense with five solo and four assisted tackles with 3.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 11 yards and recovered a fumble he returned 12 yards.  Brandon Little added four solo and two assisted tackles.  Chase Bradford recorded three solo and four assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards.  John Combs intercepted a pass he returned 75 yards for a touchdown.  James Godfrey also intercepted a pass he returned seven yards and recovered a fumble.

Amodeus Taylor led Bryan Station’s ground game with 59 yards on 10 carries.  Joey Bond carried the ball nine times for 26 yards.  Terrick Mulder completed five of 19 passes for 36 yards with two interceptions.  Amodeus Taylor caught three passes for 10 yards.  Damin Green added two receptions for 18 yards.  Trai Jenkins returned two kickoffs for 94 yards with a touchdown return of 63 yards.  Bryson Fields led the defense with four solo and seven assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in an eight yard loss and recovered a fumble.  Joshua Rowe added three solo and six assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.  Dennis Abwe intercepted a pass and Za’Ron Gentry recovered a fumble.

DeSales held Henry County to 45 yards of total offense and intercepted five passes on their way to a 43-6 victory.  DeSales recorded 10 first downs and 300 yards of total offense.  The Colts were penalized 11 times for 106 yards and had a pass intercepted.  Henry County recorded seven first downs and 45 yards of total offense.  They were penalized three times for 22 yards and had five passes intercepted.

Darren Hollenkamp led DeSales ground attack with 82 yards and a touchdown on five carries.  James Johnson carried the ball three times for 79 yards and two touchdowns.  Antione Johnson added 26 yards and two touchdowns on three carries.  Jayden Scroggin completed three of six passes for 53 yards and a touchdown with one interception.  Antione Johnson caught one pass for 28 yards.  Demarcus Avery added one reception for 19 yards and a touchdown.  Demetri Scott led the defense with three solo and two assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 11 yards.  DeJuan Watkins added two solo and one assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling six yards.  Lance Weiter, Alex Liebert, James Johnson, Jake Meeks, and Antione Johnson each intercepting a pass and Meeks returning his pick 27 yards.

Blake Cole led Henry County’s ground game with 15 yards on three carries.  Sam Royalty completed seven of 18 passes for 78 yards and one touchdown with three interceptions.  Eli Ammiott completed one of five passes for -3 yards with two interceptions.  Kevin Wix caught five passes for 25 yards and a touchdown.  Brandon Robins added two receptions for 35 yards.  Kevin Wix returned five kickoffs for 68 yards.  Luke Lyons, Michael Padgett, and Adrean Limones led the defense with two solo tackles each.  Kevin Wix intercepted a pass he returned for 19 yards.

Lexington Christian Academy continues to roll with a 55-21 victory over Williamsburg.  Lexington Christian Academy recorded 19 first downs and 596 yards of total offense.  The Eagles were penalized seven times for 50 yards, lost two fumbles, and had one pass intercepted.  Williamsburg recorded 16 first downs and 290 yards of total offense.  They were penalized twice for 10 yards and had three passes intercepted.

Xavier Brown led Lexington Christian Academy’s ground game with 72 yards and a touchdown on four carries.  Jayden Barnhardt carried the ball seven times for 60 yards and a touchdown.  Will Vernon recorded 58 yards and a touchdown on three carries.  Jayden Barnhardt completed 15 of 19 passes for 342 yards and four touchdowns with one interception.  Dearious Smith completed his only pass for 32 yards and a touchdown.  Dearious Smith caught eight passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns.  Xavier Brown added four receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns.  Mattie Lebryk led the defense with seven solo and six assisted tackles.  Andrew Long added four solo and four assisted tackles with 3.5 of his tackles resulting in losses and intercepted a pass.  Jeffrey Selby chipped in with four solo and four assisted tackles.  Dearious Smith and Mason Moore each intercepted a pass.

Anthony Snell led Williamsburg’s ground game with 28 yards on seven carries.  Dalton Ponder carried the ball 13 times for 20 yards.  Dalton Ponder completed 18 of 37 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions.  Sydney Bowen completed his only pass for 33 yards and a touchdown.  Gavon Thomas caught nine passes for 131 yards and one touchdown.  Caleb Rose caught four passes for 78 yards and a touchdown.  Dakota Lipsteuer added five receptions for 32 yards.  Jayden Rainwater caught a 10 yard touchdown pass.  Gavon Thomas returned two kickoffs for 77 yards.  Chris Howard led the defense with seven solo and two assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a loss.  Jason Bray added five solo and two assisted tackles.  Bronson Bates intercepted a pass.

The score was tied 16-16 in the third quarter but Central Hardin scored 22 unanswered points to earn a 38-16 victory over Henry Clay.  Central Hardin recorded 18 first downs and 421 yards of total offense.  They were penalized four times for 35 yards.  Henry Clay recorded 17 first downs and 360 yards of total offense.  The Blue Devils were penalized eight times for 60 yards and had a pass intercepted.

Deonco Wilkerson led Central Hardin’s ground game with 74 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.  Kyler Lee carried the ball nine times for 70 yards and three touchdowns.  TreJean Sanders carried the ball eight times for 47 yards and a touchdown.  Chase Elmore completed 11 of 15 passes for 235 yards.  Gavin George caught five passes for 172 yards.  Deonco Wilkerson added four receptions for 50 yards.  Gavin George returned two kickoffs for 41 yards with a long return of 22 yards.  Trenton Ferguson led the defense with seven solo and two assisted tackles.  Gavin George added six solo tackles and Trent Hill recorded four solo and two assisted tackles.  Chase Elmore intercepted a pass.

DJ VanHorn led Henry Clay’s ground attack with 159 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.  Preston Stacy carried the ball 14 times for 63 yards.  DJ VanHorn completed 10 of 19 passes for 121 yards with one interception.  Colton Reynolds caught five passes for 59 yards.  Ashton Foos added four receptions for 42 yards.  Preston Stacy returned three kickoffs for 78 yards with a long return of 39 yards.  DJ VanHorn returned one kickoff for 58 yards. Anderson County tied the game at 14-14 late in the third quarter and scored 14 unanswered points in the final quarter to defeat Lincoln County by a score of 28-14.  Anderson County recorded 20 first downs and 355 yards of total offense.  The Bearcats were penalized five times for 37 yards and had a pass intercepted.  Lincoln County recorded 13 first downs and 311 yards of total offense.  The Patriots were penalized seven times for 54 yards and had two passes intercepted.

Zach Labhart led Anderson County’s ground game with 149 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.  Jagger Gillis carried the ball 12 times for 68 yards and a touchdown.  Jagger Gillis completed 10 of 17 passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.  Sam Herrod caught four passes for 71 yards and a touchdown.  Kynan Russell added two receptions for 17 yards and a touchdown.  Caleb Robinson punted four times for a 43.5 average with a long punt of 55 yards and one punt inside the 20 yard line.  Zach Labhart returned one kickoff for 29 yards.  Zach Labhart led the defense with three solo and two assisted tackles and intercepted one pass he returned six yards.  Jagger Gillis and Chase Fink each added three solo and two assisted tackles.  Sam Herrod chipped in with three solo tackles and intercepted a pass.  Darien Dearinger recorded two solo and two assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling six yards.

Madison Central got off to a slow start and was unable to catch up as they dropped a 38-23 decision to Dixie Heights in a game that was delayed late in the first quarter for almost an hour due to lightning in the area.  Madison Central held an advantage in most of the statistics except the important one-points on the scoreboard.  Dixie Heights recorded 16 first downs and 292 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized 10 times for 102 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.  Madison Central recorded 22 first downs and 387 yards of total offense.  The Indians were penalized seven times for 46 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Matt Jones led Madison Central’s ground game with 148 yards on 18 carries.  Adrien Parks carried the ball 16 times for 75 yards and a touchdown.  Canon Scenters completed 13 of 27 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.  Zach Holbrook caught six passes for 55 yards.  John Landsaw added five receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown.  Ashton Hulberg recorded two receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown.  Deashon Gowdey returned one kickoff for 39 yards.  Edgren Sweat led the defense with five solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a five yard loss and recovered a fumble.  Sawyer Cruse recorded seven solo tackles.  Nate Storie added two solo and three assisted tackles and intercepted a pass he returned for 24 yards.
