The score was tied 18-18 in the second quarter but Sacred Heart exploded to pull away for a commanding 70-33 victory. The Lady Jaguars connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored six points off seven Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 33.9% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc. The Broncos connected on 15 of 19 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 North Laurel turnovers.

Brooke Nichelson led North Laurel with 26 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and two assists. Emily Sizemore added 14 points and four assists. Chloe McKnight recorded 10 points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots. Jarie Thomas hit two free throws for the Colonels to tie the score at 46-46 and force the second overtime. Shalyn Sprinkles on eight of 10 free throws to ensure the victory. There were six ties and four lead changes in this game.

Henderson County shot 39.5% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 19 of 22 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 21 Simon Kenton turnovers. Henderson County got 30 points from their bench and hit their free throws down the stretch in a 63-59 victory over Mercy Academy. The score was tied 10 times and there were four lead changes in this game. Henderson County shot 48.8% from the field including seven of 15 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 14 of 17 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Mercy Academy turnovers. Mercy Academy shot 44.7% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc. Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir countered with 6-0 So. ZaKiyah Johnson, 5-10 Jr. Reagan Bender, 6-3 Jr. Angelina Pelayo, 5-8 Sr. Triniti Ralston, and 5-8 Jr. Claire Russell.

Sacred Heart Academy led by nine points with a little more than two minutes left in the game and held on for a 57-53 victory over George Rogers Clark. There were seven ties and three lead changes in the game. Sacred Heart shot 42% from the field including three of nine from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 16 George Rogers Clark turnovers. George Rogers Clark shot 47.6% from the field including seven of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Cardinals connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Sacred Heart turnovers.

ZaKiyah Johnson led Sacred Heart with 22 points including four of five free throws, 10 rebounds, and two assists. Reagan Bender added 21 points including three three point baskets, six of eight free throws, two rebounds, and three steals. Angelina Pelayo recorded six points, five rebounds, and two assists. McCracken County shot 50% from the field including seven of 18 from beyond the arc. They connected on four of five free throws, pulled down 13 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 Sacred Heart turnovers.

ZaKiyah Johnson led Sacred Heart with 30 points on 12 of 14 from the field including two of three beyond the arc, four of five free throws, eight rebounds, five assists, and one blocked shot. Reagan Bender added 19 points including three three point baskets, four assists, and four steals. Angelina Pelayo recorded 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. Triniti Ralston chipped in with two points, five assists, and seven steals. Claire Russell added four rebounds and seven assists.

Morgantown trailed 36-32 after three quarters but rallied to earn a 54-50 victory over Wheeling Park. There were nine ties and eight lead changes in this game. Fairmont Senior trailed Shady Spring 21-20 at halftime but rallied after the intermission for a 47-42 victory. There were three ties and seven lead changes in this game. Fairmont Senior shot 54.8% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line. The Polar Bears connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored eight points off eight Shady Spring turnovers. Shady Spring shot 44.1% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 12 Fairmont Senior turnovers.

DeSean Goode led Fairmont Senior with 18 points including eight of 10 from the field, one of two from the three point line, one of one free throws, and eight rebounds. 5-10 Fr. Julz Butler added 10 points including two three point baskets. Andre Grant recorded nine points, three rebounds, and two steals. Connor Gower chipped in with nine points including two three point baskets and two assists. Zycheus Dobbs added one point, four rebounds, six assists, and two blocked shots.

Braden Chapman led Shady Spring with 23 points including three three point baskets, two assists, and three steals. Ammar Mawell added 13 points, two assists, and two steals.

Southwood vs. Indianapolis Lutheran (Boys) Class 1A Championship

Southwood coach Christian Perry started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Cole Winer, 6-2 Jr. Will Winer, 6-4 Sr. Dylan Stout, 6-0 Sr. Nathan Lehner, and 6-1 Sr. Jason Oprisek. Indianapolis Lutheran coach Remus Woods countered with 6-3 So. Cayden Loescher, 5-11 Sr. Durray Smith, 6-5 Sr. Kaiden Patterson, 5-10 So. LJ Ward, and 6-1 Sr, Aiden Alialy.

Indianapolis Lutheran outscored Southwood 36-16 in the second quarter on their way to a 97-66 victory. Indianapolis Lutheran shot 50.7% from the field including six of 21 from the three point line. The Saints connected on 17 of 20 free throws, pulled down 52 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 24 Southwood turnovers. Southwood shot 37.3% from the field including one of 11 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on 15 of 28 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 Indianapolis Lutheran turnovers.

Cayden Loescher led a balanced Indianapolis Lutheran scoring attack with 22 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots. Durray Smith added 21 points including five three point baskets, four rebounds, and two assists. LJ Ward recorded 17 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, six steals, and four blocked shots. 6-5 Sr. Kameron Patterson chipped in with 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and two blocked shots. Kaiden Patterson added 10 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

Jason Oprisek led Southwood with 17 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Cole Winer added 15 points and six rebounds. Will Winer recorded 13 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Nathan Lehner chipped in with eight points and six rebounds. Dylan Stout added eight points, eight rebounds, two assists, three steals, three blocked shots.

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian captured their thid championship in five seasons with a 52-45 victory over Linton-Stockton. However this one did not come easy as Linton-Stockton behind the hot shooting of Joey Hart (18 first half points) led 29-18 at halftime and 35-33 after three quarters. The Braves ramped up their defense after the intermission and used Kellen Pickett to closely shadow Joey Hart and they outscored Linton-Stockton 19-10 in the final quarter to earn the win.

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian shot 42.5% from the field including six of 20 from the three point line. The Braves connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored six points off five Linton-Stockton turnovers. Linton-Stockton shot 26,4% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc. The Miners were only four of 27 from the field in the second half. The Miners connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian turnovers.

Kellen Pickett led Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian with 19 points including two three point baskets, five of seven free throws, nine rebounds, and four assists. Gage Sefton added 16 points and eight rebounds. Jimmy Davidson recorded nine points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

Joey Hart led Linton-Stockton with 23 points including five three point baskets. Logan Webb added 11 points including six of six free throws, and five rebounds. Nathan Frady recorded three points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.

Guerin Catholic coach Bobby Allen countered with 6-7 So. Bryson Cardinal, 6-2 Jr. Jack Cherry, 6-7 Jr. Dylan Murans, 5-11 Sr. Kamea Chandler, and 6-0 Jr. Robert Sorensen.

Northwood defeated Guerin Catholic 66-63 in overtime. Guerin Catholic trailed 44-35 after three quarters but rallied to force overtime. Northwood shot 46.9% from the field including eight of 18 from the three point line. The Panthers connected on 12 of 15 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Guerin Catholic turnovers. Guerin Catholic shot 42.9% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles connected on 17 of 19 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 13 Northwood turnovers.

Cade Brenner led Northwood with 28 points including five three point baskets, five of six free throws, six rebounds, and two assists. Tyler Raasch added 14 points, 13 rebounds, two steals, and five blocked shots. Ian Raasch recorded 13 points including five of six free throws, three rebounds, and three assists. Ethan Wolfe chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets and five assists. Brock Bontrager pulled down seven rebounds and dished out three assists.

Kamea Chandler led Guerin Catholic with 22 points, two rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Jack Cherry added 15 points including two three point baskets, five of five free throws, and three rebounds. The Giants connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 15 Kokomo turnovers. Kokomo shot 42.2% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc. The Wildkats connected on two of 13 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored eight points off eight Ben Davis turnovers.

Zane Doughty led Ben Davis with 20 points including 10 of 13 from the field, three rebounds, and two blocked shots. Mark Zackery IV added 16 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, and two steals. Shaun Arnold recorded 12 points including two three point baskets, four of four free throws, two assists, and two steals. Sheridan Sharp dished out eight assists.

Flory Bidunga led Kokomo with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocked shots. Zavion Bellamy added nine points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Shayne Spear recorded five points and four rebounds. Patrick Hardimon chipped in with four points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

The Lady Braves connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 West Jessamine turnovers. West Jessamine shot 27.1% from the field including eight of 36 from beyond the arc. The Lady Warhawks connected on 16 of 20 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 22 West Jessamine turnovers. West Jessamine shot 28.8% from the field including five of 22 from beyond the arc. Madison Southern led 39-15 in the third quarter and held off a late rally by Grant County to earn a 55-47 victory. Madison Southern shot 38.1% from the field including 10 of 22 from the three point line. The Lady Eagles connected on 13 of 24 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 17 Grant County turnovers. Grant County shot 40.4% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc. The Lady Braves connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Madison Southern turnovers.

5-10 Fr. Laci Sandlin led Madison Southern with 20 points including six three point baskets and five rebounds. Tara Wooten added 13 points including six of eight free throws, and two rebounds. Ashlan Estep recorded nine points on three three point baskets. Bella Moberly chipped in with eight points and six rebounds. Jada Carter and 5-8 Sr. Megan Correll each pulled down seven rebounds.

5-6 8th Grade Olivia Ginn led Grant County with 10 points including two three point baskets and two rebounds. Emily Naranjo added eight points and five rebounds. 5-4 So. Skyler Menefee recorded six points and four rebounds. Dakota Rowe chipped in with five points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Franklin County trailed by 10 late in the game but staged a furious rally and missed a shot at short range in the closing seconds for the chance to tie. There were five ties and nine lead changes in the game. Lexington Catholic shot 41.7% from the field including six of 17 from the three point line. The Lady Knights connected on 15 of 24 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and committed 16 turnovers. Franklin County shot 37.1% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc. The Lady Flyers connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and committed 19 turnovers.


Katherine Truitt led Lexington Catholic with 24 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, and five steals. Mary Martin Hampton added 19 points including 10 of 15 free throws, five rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Lexington Catholic shot 27.1% from the field including two of 17 from beyond the arc. The Lady Knights connected on 17 of 28 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 25 Frederick Douglass turnovers. Lexington Catholic lost three starters due to fouls; Lucy Nash, Mary Martin Hampton, and Lydia Kennedy.

Rocky River Lutheran West’s Joshua Meyer hit a basket in the lane at the buzzer that was originally thought to tie the game but after the referees reviewed the play the basket was waved off because the shot came after the horn. There were nine ties and 11 lead changes in this game. Akron Buchtel shot 47.2% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line. The Griffins connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored six points off five Rocky River Lutheran West turnovers. Rocky River Lutheran West shot 47.5% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc. The Longhorns connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Akron Buchtel turnovers.

Alcoa rallied from a 45-39 deficit at the end of three quarters to defeat Frederick Douglass 59-58 on a layup by Jahvin Carter with four seconds remaining on the clock. There were five ties and nine lead changes in the game. Alcoa shot 43.4% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line. The Tornadoes connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 18 Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 47.4% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc. The Red Devils connected on one of three free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Alcoa turnovers.

Jahvin Carter led Alcoa with 24 points including five of five free throws, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Lexington Catholic shot 59.5% from the field including eight of 17 from the three point line. The Knights connected on three of eight free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 12 LCA turnovers. LCA shot 51.7% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 15 rebounds, and scored five points off five Lexington Catholic turnovers.


John Reinhart led Lexington Catholic with 23 points including five three point baskets, two rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Reece Potter added 13 points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots. Tyler Doyle recorded 11 points and eight assists. Hudson Sparks chipped in with seven points, seven rebounds, and three assists.


Saxton Howard led Lexington Christian Academy with 10 points including two three point baskets. Tyler Hall added eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
