Elizabethtown captured a close one from Lincoln County by a score of 51-46.  Lincoln County trailed by one; 35-34 entering the final quarter.  The Lady Panthers outscored Lincoln County 16-12 in the final quarter.

Elizabethtown shot 42.9% from the field including two of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Panthers connected on 19 of 26 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Lincoln County turnovers.  Lincoln County shot 35.9% from the field including nine of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Patriots connected on nine of 18 from the free throw line, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 12 Elizabethtown turnovers.

6-0 Sr. Alex Jones led Elizabethtown with 14 points and nine rebounds. 5-11 Sr. Jasmine Deaderick added 13 points.  5-8 Sr. Dorian Downs and 5-5 So. Natalie Greenwell chipped in with eight and seven points respectively.  5-9 Jr. Jessica Upchurch led Lincoln County with 13 points including four three point baskets.  6-3 Jr. Kendra Brown added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Congratulations to Natalie Greenwell of Elizabethtown.  Natalie hit her first seven free throws tonight to run her string to 44 in a row that eclipsed the previous consecutive record of 39.

Lexington Catholic 72  St. Joseph Central WV 65-  Lexington Catholic held a 57-37 lead in the third quarter and held on down the stretch to earn the victory. 5-9 Sr. Maggie Wilson led the victors with 20 points.  5-8 Sr. Danielle Corbett added 17 points including four three point baskets.  5-9 Sr. Sheneque McGhee chipped in with five points and 14 rebounds.  5-6 8th grader Oney Harrison and 5-11 Fr. Alex Botkin were very productive off the bench with nine and six points respectively.  Botkin also pulled down seven rebounds.  6-0 So. Sara Sang led St. Joseph's with 19 points and 15 rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Jill Pulley added 17 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.  5-3 Jr. Dusti Chapman chipped in with 12 points an four three point baskets.  5-8 Jr. Brittany Moore recorded nine points and seven rebounds.

Corbin 61 Lexington Christian Academy 49 - Corbin rallied from a 30-16 deficit early in the third quarter to defeat LCA 61-49.  Corbin outscored LCA 25-5 in the third quarter to take control of the game.  6-5  Sr. Josh Crawford led Corbin with 27 points and 12 rebounds.  6-3 Sr. Josh Smith added 14 points and seven rebounds.  6-4 Jr. Madison Johnson added 10 points.  6-6 Jr. Will Evans led LCA with 16 points and seven rebounds.  6-5 Sr. Grant Sparks added 11 points.

Pleasure Ridge Park 65 George Washington WV 55 - 6-6 Sr. Brandon Schoenhoff led PRP with 23 points and 10 rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Nathan Johnson added 10 points.  6-3 Jr.  Patrick Yochum and 6-3 Jr. Jermaine Lockhart chipped in with nine points each. 6-2 Sr. Chase Smith led George Washington with 22 points.  6-1 Sr. Matt Johnson added 11 points.

Beech TN 77 Lexington Catholic 68 OT - Beech led LexCath 57-43 in the final quarter but the Knights rallied to force overtime.  Beech outscored LexCath 17-8 in overtime with 6-3 Sr. Tyler Brown scoring 11 points.  Brown led Beech with 23 points and eight rebounds.  6-5 Jr. John Taylor added 14 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  5-10 Sr. Steven Dorse chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets.  6-0 Fr. Jaylen Beckham led LexCath with 21 points and five assists.  6-3 So. Taylor Martin added 17 points and six rebounds.  6-3 So. Campbell Memorial OH 75 God's Academy TX 73 - 6-2 Jr. Nate Hodge came off the bench to lead the victors with 27 points including 11 of 14 from the three point line and six rebounds. 6-1 So. Lester Hughes added 12 points and seven rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Doriann Jones chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Germaine Somrajit and 5-7 Jr. Jerah'me Williams recorded  11 and 10 points respectively with each connecting on three three point baskets. 6-8 Jr. Titus Rubbles and 6-8 Sr. Richard Armardi each recorded 18 points for God's Academy and Rubbles pulled down 11 rebounds.  6-1 Jr. K.C. Ross-Miller added 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists.

Sacred Heart notched an upset win with a 57-54 victory over Manual.  SHA outscored Manual 16-8 in the third quarter to take a 43-39 lead entering the final period.  The Valkyries scored 29 points off 34 Manual turnovers.  This offset a 44-32 Manual advantage in rebounds and a 19-2 advantage in second chance points.  Manual also enjoyed a 27-6 advantage in three point points.

SHA shot 36.2% from the field including two of four from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 21 of 35 free throws.  Manual shot 36.4% from the field including nine of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Crimsons connected on five of 13 free throws and scored 16 points off 23 SHA turnovers.

5-6 Jr. Autumn Miller led Sacred Heart with 18 points including 10 of 14 from the free throw line.  5-11 Jr. Jackie Hafele added nine points and eight rebounds and 5-9 Jr. Mary Gordon Stough chipped in with eight points.  5-4 So. Bryan Station defeated Paul Dunbar tonight by a score of 80-61.  Bryan Station took a 17-10 lead after the first quarter but Paul Dunbar rallied to tie the score at 17-17.  However Bryan Station rallied to take a 34-28 lead at halftime.  Bryan Station outscored the Bulldogs 23-12 in the third quarter to take control of the game.  Bryan Station shot well from beyond he arc tonight (7 of 16) and held a 21-6 advantage in three point points.

Bryan Station shot 44.3% from the field including seven of 16 from the three point line.  The Defenders connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds and scored 16 points off 14 Dunbar turnovers.  Dunbar shot 30.1% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on 15 of 26 free throws, pulled down 55 rebounds and scored nine points off 10 Bryan Station turnovers.

Madison Central outscored LCA 14-2 in the second quarter on their way to a 49-37 victory.  Madison Central held a 17-16 lead in the first quarter and 31-18 at halftime.  Madison Central held a 37-27 lead after three quarters.  LCA closed the margin to six: 39-33 in the final quarter but Madison Central regained control of the game.  The key stat tonight was a 47-26 advantage in rebounds for Madison Central including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds.  Madison Central held a 17-5 advantage in second chance points.  This was very impressive condidering their tallest starter is 6-2.

Madison Central shot 35.8% from the field including only two of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on nine of 18 free throws and scored 16 points off 21 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 31.0% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on seven of 11 free throws and scored 10 points off 16 Madison Central turnovers.

6-1 Sr. Keshawn Simpson led the victors with 20 points and nine rebounds.  Simpson was eight of nine from the field and four of seven from the free throw line.  6-2 Sr. Vince Clay added 15 points and 6-1 Sr. Jaquentin Jenkins recorded six points and pulled down nine rebounds.  6-6 Jr. Will Evans led LCA with 18 points and 11 rebounds with 15 of his points coming in the second half.  6-2 Jr. Branden Burdette and 5-10 Fr. Tates Creek outscored Bryan Station 24-9 in the third quarter on their way to a 56-46 victory over the visiting Lady Defenders.  Bryan Station led 27-23 at halftime but Tates Creek's press generated several turnovers in the third quarter and the Lady Commodores took a 47-36 lead entering the final quarter.

5-6 Sr. Betsy Goodin led the victors with 16 points and six rebounds.  5-8 Jr. Lizza Jonas added 13 points and was a was very destructive on defense with eight steals.  5-5 Sr. Kyleigh Kreyenbuhl added eight points and four steals.  6-0 Jr. Jasmine Franklin chipped in with six points and 14 rebounds.  6-1 Fr. Peyton Hisel recorded seven points and five rebounds.

5-9 Jr. Nealy Williams led Bryan Station with 14 points.  5-11 Jr. Alesha Prince added 12 points and eight rebounds.  5-10 So. Sherryce Butler came off the bench to record four points and seven rebounds.

Lexington Catholic raced out to a 60-30 lead on their way to a 70-55 victory over Casey County.  Lexington Catholic's starters played from 14:45 to 21:49 with Coach Salsman substituting liberally throughout the contest.

Lexington Catholic shot 40.3% from the field including six of 25 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds and scored 21 points off 20 Casey County turnovers. Casey County shot 29.8% from the field including seven of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Rebels connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds and scored 10 points off 11 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Casey County held a 37-14 advantage in bench scoring.

Scott Schuette led Lexington Catholic with 18 points including four three point baskets.  6-3 Sr. Vee Sanford added 17 points.  6-3 Sr. Taylor Botkin recorded nine points, eight rebounds, and five steals.  5-11 So. Lexington KY - January 6, 2009

Sacred Heart Academy visited Lexington Catholic for a battle between two of the traditional powers in girls' basketball over the last several years.  Sacred Heart prevailed in a 54-53 victory over Lexington Catholic  in a game in which both teams appeared to have left their basketball "legs" in Florida after both appeared in a tournament in Naples last week.

Lexington Catholic led at halftime by a score of 20-17 but Sacred Heart rallied to take a 38-34 lead at the end of three quarters. Sacred Heart  held a 54-50 lead late in the game but LexCath's Danielle Corbett nailed a three point basket to cut the lead to one; 54-53 with less than six seconds left in the game.  Sacred Heart turned the ball over but LexCath's Maggie Wilson missed an off balance shot  at the buzzer for the win.

This was an exciting game for the fans but frustrating at times for the coaches.  Lexington Catholic got burned several times for easy baskets on the "give and go" play from Sacred Heart and Sacred Heart tried to give the game back to Lexington Catholic in the closing seconds.

Sacred Heart shot 42.9% from the field including only one of nine from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 21 LexCath turnovers.  LexCath shot 41.2% from the field including only one of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on 10 of 17 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 19 SHA turnovers.

5-11 So. Morgan Clemons led the victors with 12 points and six rebounds.  5-4 So. Maddie Peabody and 5-6 Jr. Autumn Miller added 10 points each.  5-11 Jr. Jackie Hafele recorded  eight points, pulled down 13 rebounds, and dished out five assists.  5-9 Sr. Maggie Wilson led LexCath with 15 points and eight rebounds.  5-8 8th grader Octavia Wilson added nine points and six rebounds.

Findlay Prep NV 63 Mt.Zion NC 44  (Boys) - 6-8 Sr. Victor Rudd led Findlay Prep with 23 points including 3 three point baskets.  6-4 Sr. Avery Bradley was named team MVP and added 21 points.  6-0 Sr. Jaheim Antney led Mt Zion with 18 points including 3 three point baskets.  6-9 So. Christopher Coleman added 11 points and 10 rebounds.  6-10 Fr. Joseph Uchebo was named team MVP and recorded 4 points and 14 rebounds.

Scott County 99 Lexington Christian Academy 73 (Boys) - 6-8 Jr. Dakotah Euton led Scott County with 17 points.  6-4 Jr. Chad Jackson was named team MVP and added 15 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals.  6-8 Sr. Richie Phares and 6-2 Jr. Ge-Lawn Guyn added 15 points each.  Phares only played 12:20 because of foul problems. 6-6 Jr. Will Evans led LCA with 18 points and 7 rebounds.  Evans was 11 of 15 from the free throw line.  6-2 Jr. Branden Burdette added 14 points.  6-5 Sr. Grant Sparks was named team MVP and recorded 12 points and 5 rebounds.  5-1 Fr. Taylor Barnette also reached double figures with 12 points.

Lexington Christian Academy 80 North Canton Hoover OH 66 (Girls) - LCA was led by team MVP 5-10 Sr. Anna Martin with 32 points and 9 rebounds.  5-11 Sr. Courtney Clifton added 24 points including 4 three point baskets and 7 rebounds.  6-2 Jr. Sarah Beth Barnette added 17 points including 3 three point baskets and 7 rebounds.  5-7 Sr. Jess Carpenter was named team MVP for NCH and scored 18 points including 3 three point baskets and 5 rebounds.

Findlay Prep NV 59 New Creations IN 53 (Boys) - 6-8 Sr. Victor Rudd was named team MVP and led Findlay Prep with 20 points and 11 rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Avery Bradley added 17 points and 6 rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Warren Niles led New Creations with 17 points and 6 rebounds.  6-2 Sr. Kierre Greenwood was named team MVP and added 14 points.

Lexington Christian Academy 67 Montgomery County 61 OT (Boys) - 6-6 Jr. Will Evans was named team MVP for LCA and recorded 17 points and 16 rebounds.  6-2 Jr. Branden Burdette and 5-10 Fr. Taylor Barnette added 11 and 10 points respectively.  Burdette scored 6 points in overtime.  6-4 Sr. Derrick Robinson led Montgomery County with 16 points and 7 rebounds.  6-3 Sr. Brandon Rash was named team MVP for Montgomery County and scored 14 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.  Rash is also a "lock-down" defender.
