Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Sawyer Pauly, 6-1 Jr. Joe Schaefer, 6-4 Sr. Ryan Hayden, 5-10 Jr. Nick Fredrick, and 5-10 So. Nick Ruthsatz.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Sr. Craig Floyd, 6-5 Sr. Patrick Keller, 6-8 Jr. Jack Whitman, 5-9 Jr. Dillon Avare, and 5-10 Sr. Bryan Woomer.

Lexington Catholic captured a hard fought 51-48 victory over Covington Catholic tonight.  Covington Catholic had one last chance to go for the tie but was unable to get off a shot.  Lexington Catholic shot 50% on 2pt field goals and four of 14 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 17 of 27 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Covington Catholic turnovers.  Covington Catholic shot 37.8% on 2pt field goals and  three of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Jack Whitman led Lexington Catholic with 15 points and seven rebounds.  Craig Floyd added 11 points. 

Nick Fredrick led a balanced Covington Catholic attack with nine points.  Nick Ruthsatz, 6-0 Jr. Brandon Ward, and 6-4 Jr. Zack Tobler added eight points each.

Raven Merriweather, 6-1 Sr. Jazmin Smith, 5-6 Jr. Kristin Matula, and 5-6 Sr. Jade Tubb.  Mercer County coach Chris Souder countered with 5-7 Sr. Tabby Shewmaker, 5-5 Jr. Carli Souder, 5-9 Sr. Savannah Taylor, 5-5 Sr. Cawood Dedman, and 5-4 Fr. Catheryne Claunch.

Sacred Heart defeated Mercer County by a score of 52-47.  Sacred Heart shot 40.4% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 32 Mercer County turnovers.  Mercer County shot 40.6% from the field including two of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Titans connected on 19 of 22 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 28 Sacred Heart turnovers.

Jade Tubb led Sacred Heart with 20 points including four three point baskets.  Tubb was six of nine from the field including four of seven from beyond the arc, and four of four from the free throw line.  Raven Merriweather added 12 points, seven rebounds, and six steals.  5-6 Sr. Erica Walsh recorded 10 points and six rebounds.

Savannah Taylor led Mercer County with 16 points including eight of nine free throws.  Carli Souder, Cawood Dedman, and Catheryne Claunch added nine, eight, and eight points respectively.

Jordan Fucci, 6-4 Sr. Taylor Grimes, 6-2 Sr. Darius Gibson, and 5-9 Sr. Brian Tilford.

Tates Creek connected on 11 of 12 free throws in the final quarter to earn a 50-46 victory over Henry Clay.  Henry Clay led 23-13 at halftime but Tates Creek rallied to outscore Henry Clay 20-10 in the third quarter.  Tates Creek shot 41.2% from the field including two of nine from the three point line.  The Commodores connected on 20 of 25 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 12 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 43.8% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Blue Devils connected on three of eight free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 18 Tates Creek turnovers.

Darius Gibson led Tates Creek with 13 points including 11 of 13 from the free throw line and pulled down eight rebounds.  Braxton McFarland added 10 points and six rebounds.  Jordan Fucci recorded seven points and eight rebounds.

Trey Grundy led Henry Clay with 25 points and five rebounds.

David Greenwell hit a layup with 30 seconds left in overtime to give Woodford County a 60-59 victory over Bryan Station.  Woodford County shot 42.9% from the field including four of 20 from the three point line.  The Yellowjackets connected on 14 of 25 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 18 Bryan Station turnovers.  Bryan Station shot 39.2% from the field including four of 15 from bayond the arc.  The Defenders connected on 15 of 25 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 19 Woodford County turnovers.

David Greenwell led Woodford County with 22 points and nine rebounds.  William Starcher added 13 points and 6-4 Jr. Landen Young recorded nine points and eight rebounds.

5-9 So. Jordan Henry led Bryan Station with 15 points.  Larry Morton added 11 points, 10 rebounds, and seven steals.  Marcus Williams also reached double figures with 10 points.

Lexington Christian Academy coach Tommy Huston started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Patrick Nickodem, 6-2 Sr. Travis Branham, 6-3 Jr. Jon Lannertone, 5-8 Jr. Tyler Harville, and 6-2 Sr. Taylor Barnette.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Sr. Craig Floyd, 6-5 Sr. Patrick Keller, 6-8 Jr. Jack Whitman, 5-9 Jr. Dillon Avare, and 5-10 Sr. Bryan Woomer.

Lexington Catholic defeated Lexington Christian Academy by a score of 61-48 tonight.  LCA actually led 26-17 early in the second quarter but Lexington Catholic took control of the game in the third quarter and pulled away for the victory.  LCA went cold from the field in the second half only managing 29.6% after the intermission.

Lexington Catholic shot 46.8% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on nine of 20 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 35.7% from the field including six of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on two of three free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 17 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Jack Whitman led Lexington Catholic with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and six blocked shots.  Dillon Avare added 11 points including three three point baskets.  Bryan Woomer recorded eight points, five rebounds, and eight assists.

Tyler Harville led LCA with 18 points, five rebounds, and six assists.  Jon Lannertone added 10 points and 12 rebounds.  Star guard Taylor Barnette was uncharacteristically cold from the field tonight and was limited to seven points all in the first quarter.

Anderson County raced out to a 21-3 first quarter lead on their way to a 64-35 victory over Lafayette.  Anderson County shot 53.1% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Bearcats connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 28 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 40.6% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Generals connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 16 Anderson County turnovers.

Sydney Brown led Anderson County with 15 points.  Eriel MeKee added with 14 points and six rebounds.  Makenzie Cann recorded 11 points, seven assists, and six steals.  Destiny Stewart added nine points including two three point baskets. 

Sarah Cooley led Lafayette with 11 points.  Sarah Martin and Ken’yale Demus added nine and seven points respectively.

DaiJai Ruffin led Sacred Heart with 21 points, 17 rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Raven Merriweather added 16 points and five blocked shots.

Ashli Mayes led Franklin County with 16 points and 13 rebounds.  Raven Timmons added 16 points, 11 rebounds, and five steals.

Taylor Barnette led LCA with 22 points and nine rebounds.  Tyler Harville added 13 points including eight of eight from the free throw line.  Travis Branham and Jon Lannertone added 12 and 11 points respectively.

6-1 Jr. Logan Wade led CAL with 20 points including five three point baskets.  Tyler Stocking added 15 points including eight of eight from the free throw line.  5-8 So. Colton Talley chipped in with nine points.

Trent Gilbert, and 5-10 Jr. Quin Richardson.  Ballard coach Chris Renner countered with 6-5 So. Kelan Martin, 6-2 Jr. Cam Lewis, 6-8 Sr. Aaron Murray, 5-11 Jr. Lavonne Holland, and 5-11 So. Quintin Snider.

Ballard defeated Scott County by a score of 85-76 in a battle between two of the premier teams in Kentucky.  Ballard was on target from the field tonight shooting 57.7% from the field in the first half and 59.3% from the field in the second half.  Ballard shot 58.5% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Bruins connected on 18 of 25 from the free throw line, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 17 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 46.3% from the field including seven of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 19 of 25 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 16 Ballard turnovers.

Quintin Snider led Ballard with 27 points including four three point baskets.  Lavonne Holland added 23 points and Cam Lewis chipped in with 14 points.  Kelan Martin recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Isaiah Ivey led Scott County with 34 points including two three point baskets.  Tamron Manning added 15 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.  Trent Gilbert recorded 13 points including three three point baskets.

Class 2A Playoffs

 

Covington Holy Cross 48  Somerset 14 – QB Kyle Fuller completed 22 of 31 passes for 278 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions and carried the ball 17 times for 83 yards to lead the victors.

Glasgow 40  Murray 10 – Jalen Sublett carried the ball 29 times for 271 yards and two touchdowns to lead Glasgow.

 

Class 3A Playoffs

 

Central 36  Fort Campbell 8 – Anthony Wales carried the ball 30 times for 300 yards including touchdown runs of 1, 42, and 9 yards to lead the Yellowjackets.

Class 4A Playoffs

 

Highlands 42  Lexington Catholic 21 – Highlands Colin Seidl touchdowns on kickoff returns of 95 and 90 yards.  QB Patrick Towles completed seven of 11 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown and carried the ball 17 times for 120 yards and two touchdowns.  Drake Bruns recorded 12 solo tackles.  Lexington Catholic Kyle Bolin completed 24 of 43 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.  Adam Bush caught 11 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Franklin-Simpson 20  Collins 15 – Darius Wickware carried the ball 30 times for 166 yards and two touchdowns to lead the victors.

 

Class 5A Playoffs

 

Anderson County 49  Southwestern 8 – QB Seth Carmichael completed 20 of 24 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns with one interception and carried the ball nine times for 48 yards and one touchdown to lead the Bearcats.

Bowling Green 62  John Hardin 20 – QB Scooter Hollis completed eight of 11 passes for 208 yards and three touchdowns and Nacarius Fant caught six passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Purples.

 

Class 6A Playoffs

 

Scott County 16  Boone County 14 – Josh Walls carried the ball 15 times for 92 yards and a touchdown to lead the Cardinals.

Trinity 49  Butler 6 – Dalyn Dawkins carried the ball 26 times for 272 yards and three touchdowns and James Quick caught five passes for 84 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Shamrocks.
