Dunbar coach Sarah Van Horn countered with 5-10 Sr. Morgan McEldowney, 5-6 Jr. Lexus Edwards, 6-2 So. Brooke Todd, 5-4 Jr. Jordin Fender, and 5-4 Jr. Kierra Muhammad.

Lexington Catholic led 44-33 at halftime but Dunbar exploded in the third quarter outscoring Lexington Catholic 32-5 on their way to an 83-57 victory.  Lexington Catholic turned the ball over 26 times tonight and only shot 9.1% (2-22) from the field in the second half.  Dunbar shot 51.5% from the field including three of six from the three point line.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on 12 of 17 free throws, and scored 39 points off 26 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 35.4% from the field including eight of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Dunbar turnovers.

Jordin Fender led Dunbar with 25 points and five steals.  Morgan McEldowney added 14 points.  Brooke Todd chipped in with 10 points.  Kierra Muhammad recorded 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and seven steals.  5-10 Jr. LaKeena Parks pulled down eight rebounds.

Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 14 points.  Alex Botkin added eight points and 12 rebounds.  Emily Johns and 5-9 Fr. Rachel Blake also scored eight points each.

Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Quan Taylor, 6-1 Sr. John O’Bryan, 6-6 Sr. Hunter Allen, 6-1 Jr. Ken-Jah Bosley, and 6-1 Jr. Dominique Hawkins.  Henry Clay coach Daniel Brown countered with 6-6 So. Trey Grundy, 6-4 So. Jordan Green, 6-5 Jr. Darien Tichenor, 5-8 Sr. Wes Kimball, and 5-11 So. Christen Cunningham.

Henry Clay defeated Madison Central by a score of 64-49 and handed Madison Central (22-1) their first loss of the year.  Henry Clay took control of the game with an 18-5 first quarter.  Madison Central battled and pulled to within six; 45-39 late in the third quarter but could not close the gap.  The game started 30 minutes late due to the Henry Clay student section throwing baby powder on the floor which required an extensive cleanup to allow the game to be played.  Madison Central could never find the range tonight as they were a dismal 27.3% from the field.

Henry Clay shot 44.1% from the field including two of nine from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 10 of 17 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 10 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison central shot 27.3% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 15 of 22 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 10 points off seven Henry Clay turnovers.

Jordan Green led a balanced Henry Clay scoring attack with 16 points.  Christen Cunningham added 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists.  6-1 Sr. Alex Blackburn chipped in with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Wes Kimball and Trey Grundy reached double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.  Darien Tichenor pulled down eight rebounds and blocked six shots.

Dominique Hawkins led Madison Central with 21 points.  Quan Taylor added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

West Jessamine outscored Burgin 24-16 in the third quarter on their way to a 78-66 victory.  West Jessamine shot 54.5% from the field including a sizzling 12 of 17 from the three point line.  The Colts connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 12 Burgin turnovers.  Burgin shot 48.9% from the field including three of seven from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on 17 of 22 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 13 West Jessamine turnovers.

Daulton Peters led West Jessamine with 26 points and seven rebounds.  6-3 Jr. Chase Fain added 18 points, five assists, and four steals.  6-1 Sr. Heath Jackson chipped in with 12 points.  Jeff Ziemann recorded nine points on three three point baskets

Travis McEachern led Burgin with 21 points.  McEachern was seven of eight from the field including one of two from the three point line, and six of seven from the free throw line.  Alex Beckerson added 19 points and seven rebounds.  Austin Shewmaker chipped in with 12 points.

Marcellus Washington hit a 30 foot three point basket in the closing seconds of overtime to give Bryan Station a 70-69 victory over Sayre.  Bryan Station shot 41% from the field including 10 of 26 from the three point line.  The Defenders connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 19 Sayre turnovers.  Sayre shot 45.8% from the field including four of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Spartans connected on 21 of 24 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 13 Bryan Station turnovers.

Marcellus Washington led Bryan Station with 25 points including seven three point baskets.  Jaylen Beckham added 16 points and six rebounds.  Daquice Allen added 10 points and Marcus Williams chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.

Ray Brewer led Sayre with 33 points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Brewer was 11 of 18 from the field and 11 of 12 from the free throw line.    Justin Sanders added 11 points and four assists.  Reid Freeman recorded seven points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.  Phillip O’Rourke and Duncan Courtney each scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds.

Gabby Bowie, 5-5 Sr. Sophie O’Rourke, and 5-7 Sr. Emily Culbertson.  Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford countered with 5-10 Jr. Makayla Uebelhor, 5-7  Jr. Samantha Kinchen, 5-11 So. Areanna Porter, 5-6 Fr. Destiny Carter, and 5-6 Fr. Jasmine Richmond.

Sayre defeated Henry Clay 33-30 tonight in a game that had more plot changes and twist and turns than a soap opera.  The first half was close the entire way and Sayre took a 17-14 in the closing seconds of the half before Henry Clay’s Jasmine Richmond nailed a three point basket at the buzzer to tie the score at 17-17.  The third quarter belonged to Sayre’s Maddie Mitchell as she scored all 11 Sayre points in the quarter to give Sayre a 28-20 late in the quarter.  However Henry Clay’s 5-10 Sr. Sydney Dunham got on a roll of her own.  She scored a field goal to cut the margin to 28-22 after three quarters. 

Dunham scored eight points in the final quarter to give Henry Clay a 30-29 lead with 3:40 left in the game.  Sayre’s Sophie O’Rourke hit a field goal with 1:20 left in the game to give Sayre a 31-30 lead.  Sayre’s Maddie Mitchell deflected the ball and Sayre recovered the ball but Grace Rahman’s shot was blocked by 5-10 Jr. MacKenzie Claus who rebounded the ball with 8.4 seconds left in the game and Henry Clay called a time out.  Henry Clay turned the ball over with 5.4 seconds and had to foul Rahman who calmly connected on two free throws to give Sayre a 33-30 lead with 2.4 seconds left.  Henry Clay’s Destiny Carter got off a long three point attempt that bounced off the rim.

Sayre shot 37.9% from the field including one of two from the three point line.  The Lady Spartans connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored nine points off 19 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 21.2% from the field including two of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on six of 14 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 26 Sayre turnovers.  Henry Clay attempted 23 (52-29) more field goal attempts than Sayre.

Maddie Mitchell led Sayre with 17 points, six rebounds, and five steals.  Gabby Bowie added eight points, six rebounds, and five blocked shots.

Sydney Dunham led Henry Clay with 12 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.  Samantha Kinchen added six points and five rebounds.  MacKenzie Claus also pulled down seven rebounds.

6-7 Sr. Jay Johnson dominated tonight scoring 30 points, pulling down eight rebounds, and blocking three shots in 24:33 minutes.  Johnson was 10 of 14 from the field and 10 of 11 from the free throw line.  David Greenwell added17 points and 11 rebounds.  5-10 So. Eli Boggess chipped in with 11 points including two three point baskets.

Aaron Jackson led Frankfort with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals.  Zach Perry added 12 points including two three point baskets.  DeAnte Floyd chipped in with 10 points.

Clay County defeated Lexington Catholic 58-56 in a three overtime thriller today.  Clay County led 32-27 after three quarters but Lexington Catholic rallied and Alex Botkin hit a layup in the closing seconds to tie the score at 47-47 and send the game to overtime.  The score was 50-50 after the first overtime and Clay County’s Alisha Mitchell hit a three point basket in the closing seconds to tie the score at 56-56 and send the game to the third overtime.  Alisha Mitchell hit two free throws with seconds remaining to give Clay County their victory margin.

Clay County shot 45% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected on 19 of 28 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored seven points off 10 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 28.4% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on 10 of 18 from the free throw line, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 26 Clay County turnovers.  Lexington Catholic attempted 34 more shots (74-40) from the field than Clay County.

Cheyenne Madden led Clay county with 24 points and 14 rebounds.  Alisha Mitchell added 19 points including 10 of 14 from the free throw line, six rebounds, and six assists.

Alex Botkin led Lexington Catholic with 23 points, 16 rebounds, and eight steals.  Octavia Wilson added 10 points including two three point baskets and five assists.  Elizabeth Walton chipped in with nine points and Bonnie Rhule pulled down eight rebounds.  5-9 Rachel Blake recorded five points, five rebounds, and four steals.
