Sayre coach Scotty Sutton started the following lineup: 5-7 Jr. Hadyn White, 5-6 8th grade Sydney Strup, 6-3 So. Gabby Bowie, 5-4 Sr. Cammie Croney-Clark, and 5-7 Jr. Molly Manella.  Brown coach Scott Morton countered with 5-8 Jr. Deanna Waddell, 5-8 8th grade Kylah Bradley, 5-9 Sr. Abby Flynn, 5-7 Sr. Haley Oakes, and 5-7 Sr. Jordan Underwood.

Sayre defeated Brown by a score of 55-30.  Sayre shot 45.3% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Spartans connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 18 Brown turnovers.  Brown shot 19.1% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bears connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 20 Sayre turnovers.

Gabby Bowie led Sayre with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Bowie was 10 of 14 from the field and three of six from the free throw line.  Molly Manella added 19 points including three three point baskets, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Haley Oakes and Abby Flynn led Brown with eight points each.  Deanna Waddell added seven points and Jordan Underwood chipped in with six points and eight rebounds.

Boyle County coach Greg Edwards started the following lineup: 5-7 Fr. Marlee Smith, 5-7 Jr. Dee Foster, 6-0 Fr. Cammi Holton, 5-5 Sr. Hannah Harris, and 5-6 Sr. Chelsea Gill.  Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir countered with 5-9 So. Dai Jia Ruffin, 5-6 Sr. Julia Stough, 5-10 So. April Gahafer, 5-4 So. Ashley Johnson, and 5-3 So. Gretchen Samsel.

Boyle County led 31-26 at halftime but Sacred Heart outscored the Lady Rebels 23-7 in the third quarter on their way to a 65-58 victory.  Sacred Heart shot 56.1% from the field including zero of seven from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on only 19 of 42 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 Boyle County turnovers. Boyle County shot 36.4% from the field including two of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rebels connected on 24 of 32 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 18 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Boyle County had three players Marlee Smith, Hannah Harris, and Chelsea Gill foul out of the contest.  There were a total of 52 fouls called in this game and a total of 74 free throw attempts.

Dai Jia Ruffin recorded a triple double for Sacred Heart with 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists.  Ruffin also recorded three blocked shots and four steals.  Gretchen Samsel and 5-10 Sr. Caroline Long each recorded 12 points.  5-7 So. Meghan Randal chipped in with nine points on nine of 10 from the free throw line.

Chelsea Gill led Boyle County with 18 points.  Marlee Smith and 5-7 Fr. Allison Hall added 10 points each.  Dee Foster and Cammi Holton pulled down eight and seven points respectively.

Lexington Catholic led 43-27 early in the final quarter and held on for a 54-47 victory over Lafayette.  Lexington Catholic shot 38.1% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 18 of 24 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored three points off nine Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 27.6% from the field including three of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Generals connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Rachel Blake led Lexington Catholic with 14 points and six rebounds.  Octavia Wilson added 12 points, five rebounds, and five assists.  Caroline Lynch recorded nine points including seven of eight free throws and six rebounds.

Dee Givens led Lafayette with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals.  Ken’yale Demus added 13 points.  Ashanti Thomas recorded eight points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Kiara Pankins chipped in with nine points and six rebounds.

Lafayette defeated Shelby Valley by a score of 48-38.  Lafayette shot 46.2% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Shelby Valley turnovers.  Shelby Valley shot 33.3% from the field including six of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Wildcats connected on two of seven free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 13 Lafayette turnovers.

6-3 So. Ashanti Thomas led Lafayette with 14 points and eight rebounds.  Thomas was seven of nine from the field.  Shirlisa Demus added 12 points.  Dee Givens recorded eight points, six rebounds, and four assists.  Megumi Nagahiro dished out six assists.

Rachel Smith led Shelby Valley with 13 points including three three point baskets.  Taylor Rowe added nine points on three three point baskets.

Simon Kenton 70  Perry County Central 63 – 6-1 Sr. Riley Barnes led Simon Kenton with 22 points including 10 of 10 from the free throw line.  5-10 Sr. Andrew Sampson added 16 points.  6-7 Sr. Dalton Cornett led Perry County Central with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  6-7 Jr. Justin Johnson added 17 points and nine rebounds.  5-11 Fr. John Hardin 81  Ohio County 52 – 5-11 Jr. Patrick Anderson led John Hardin with 21 points.  6-3 Sr. Daveon Greene added 19 points and 10 rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Preston Lambrich led Ohio County with 11 points.  6-7 Jr. B.J. Morse added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Roger Bacon (OH) 95  Knott County Central 93  (OT) (3rd Place) – This game resulted in a classic as Roger Bacon was led by 6-4 Jr. Carlas Jackson with 36 points including five three point baskets.  6-3 Jr. Austin Frentsos added 24 points including 13 of 17 free throws, eight rebounds, and six assists.  6-0 Jr. Cody Niesen and 6-4 Sr. Erik Edwards chipped in with 12 points each.  6-2 So. Camron Justice set a tournament record tonight and led Knott County Central with an incredible 62 points.  Justice was 19 of 29 from the field including eight of 11 from beyond the arc and 16 of 19 free throws.  Sr. Chance Little added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Henry Clay 69  Lexington Catholic 64 (Championship) – Lexington Catholic led 41-31 at halftime and 50-41 with 2:51 left in the third quarter when Jack Whitman left the game with an injury.  Whitman returned but left again with a possible concussion and was done for the night.  Henry Clay outscored Lexington Catholic 28-14 the rest of the way to earn the victory.  6-1 Jr. Christen Cunningham led a balanced Henry Clay scoring attack with 17 points and nine assists with all his points coming in the second half.  6-4 Jr. Jordan Green added 16 points and 10 rebounds.  6-0 Jr. Teddy Ware chipped in with 14 points including four three point baskets.  6-6 Jr. Trey Grundy recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.  6-9 Sr. Jack Whitman led Lexington Catholic with 20 points and seven rebounds.  6-5 So. Tanner Johnson added 13 points and 11 rebounds.  6-2 So. Jarod Griffin also scored 13 points including eight of eight free throws.  5-11 Sr. Dillon Avare chipped in with 10 points.

Powell County shot a blistering 61.9% from the field in the first half to lead 31-26 but Lexington Catholic rallied in the second half to earn a 62-45 victory.  Lexington Catholic shot 48.9% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 19 Powell County turnovers.  Powell County shot 40.4% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pirates connected on five of seven free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Rachel Blake led Lexington Catholic with 25 points including three three point baskets.  Blake was 11 of 14 from the field including three of four from beyond the arc.  Octavia Wilson added 10 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.

Keeley Rogers led Powell County with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Destiny Peck added 12 points and nine rebounds.

Lafayette raced out to a 28-6 first quarter lead on their way to a 65-23 victory over Deming.  Lafayette shot 41.9% from the field including one of five from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 12 of 13 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 20 Deming turnovers.  Deming shot 20.6% from the field including zero of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Devils connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored one point off seven Lafayette turnovers.

Ashanti Thomas led Lafayette with 12 points and eight rebounds.  5-6 Jr. Shirlisa Demus added 12 points and six rebounds. Kiara Pankins recorded 11 points and eight rebounds.  Dee Givens also reached double figures with 10 points.

Henry Clay 57  Knott County Central 55 (Semifinal) – 6-6 Jr. Jordan Green hit a layup with one second left on the clock to give Henry Clay the victory.  6-1 Jr. Christen Cunningham led Henry Clay with 17 points.  6-4 Jr. Jordan Green added 12 points and five assists.  6-6 Jr. Trey Grundy recorded 10 points and nine rebounds.  6-2 So. Camron Justice led Knott County Central with 23 points and 11 rebounds.  6-7 So. Evan Hall added 15 points and six rebounds.

Russell coach Mandy Layne started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Hope Parsley, 5-7 So. Shelby Huddleston, 5-10 Sr. Arden Gross, 5-6 Jr. Lexi Berry, and 5-7 Jr. Hannah Carter.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 6-0 Jr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 So. Dee Givens, 6-3 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-8 8th grader Kiara Pankins.

Lafayette raced out to a 25-6 first quarter lead on their way to a 61-30 victory over Russell.  Lafayette shot 44.4% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on two of four free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 15 Russell turnovers.  Lafayette held a 17-5 advantage in second effort points.  Russell shot 24.4% from the field including three of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Red Devils connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Lafayette turnovers.

Sarah Cooley led Lafayette with 19 points and six rebounds.  Cooley was nine of 12 from the field and one of one from the free throw line.  Ashanti Thomas added 11 points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.  5-6 Jr. Ken’yale Demus chipped in with nine points.  Kiara Pankins recorded eight points and six rebounds.

Hope Parsley led Russell with nine points and four rebounds.  Shelby Huddleston added eight points.
