Madison Southern eked out a 21-19 victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar tonight.  The game got very interesting midway through the final quarter.  Madison Southern held a 21-13 lead with a little over five minute remaining in the game.  Dunbar’s Brandyn Duncan intercepted a pass and returned it 49 yards for a touchdown with 5:08 remaining on the clock.  The attempt for a two point conversion failed leaving the score at 21-19 but Dunbar was not done.  Dunbar’s Levi Clark kicked what appeared to be a 36 yard game winning field goal but Dunbar was called for a penalty.  Clark got another chance but missed from the 41 yard line as time expired

Madison Southern recorded 10 first downs and 237 yards of total offense.  They were penalized five times for 35 yards, lost two fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.  Paul Laurence Dunbar recorded 11 first downs and 246 yards of total offense.  The Bulldogs were penalized 11 times for 71 yards and lost a fumble.

Damien Harris led Madison Southern’s ground game with 146 yard and one touchdown on 20 carries.  Aaron Sloan completed seven of 10 passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.  William Dean caught three passes for 25 yards and a touchdown.  Devante Linville added three receptions for 21 yards.  Austin Beetlestone added a 13 yard scoring reception.  Kemonty Bruce led the defense with six solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 12 yards.  Aaron Sipple added five solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.

Emory Thompson led Dunbar’s ground game with 121 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.  AJ Williams carried the ball four times for 50 yards.  Emory Thompson completed three of 10 passes for 25 yards and a touchdown.  Marcellis Means caught a 16 yard touchdown pass.  Derante Sanders led the defense with eight solo and four assisted tackles.  Cam Pergram added three solo and three assisted tackles.  Brandyn Duncan recorded two solo and one assisted tackles and scored on a 49 yard interception return.
