Woodford County coach Jay Lucas started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Chelsey Ford, 5-5 Sr. Shelby McDonald, 5-9 So. Caroline Mefford, 5-2 Sr. Emily Harlow, and 5-5 Jr. Anastayzia Reed. Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 6-0 Sr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 Jr. Dee Givens, 6-4 Jr. Ashanti Thomas, 5-8 Sr. Ken’yale Demus, and 5-11 Fr. Kiara Pankins.
Lafayette defeated Woodford County by a score of 71-43. Lafayette shot 62.5% from the field including 72.7% in the second half and six of 12 from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on five of 13 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 26 Woodford County turnovers. Woodford County shot 27.3% from the field including seven of 27 from beyond the arc. The Yellow Jackets connected on 12 of 12 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored six points off 12 Lafayette turnovers.
Kiara Pankins led Lafayette with 16 points including four three point baskets. Sarah Cooley added 12 points and six rebounds. Cooley was six of six from the field. Dee Givens recorded 11 points, six rebounds, three assists, and seven steals. Ken’yale Demus chipped in with 10 points and four assists.
Chelsey Ford led Woodford County with 14 points including eight of eight free throws. Shelby McDonald added 11 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds. Caroline Mefford recorded nine points and five rebounds.
