Rick Bolus Girls All Louisville Fall Showcase Team

I have listed the all Showcase team with some of my observations included.

Lauren Camm – 5-10 Sr. New Albany New Albany IN – While Lauren did not score a lot of points today she is a capable scorer and rebounder.  She is a lefty combo guard forward with good basketball skills and an excellent knowledge of the game.

Kerrigan Davis -5-9 Sr. Henry Clay Lexington KY – Kerigan is a combo forward with good scoring ability and the ability to step outside and hit the three pointer.

Katie Downey – 5-6 Jr. North Bullitt Shepherdsville KY – Katie is a combo guard with a scorer’s mentality and can score off the dribble and also on a long range jumper.

Shelby Flener – 6-2 Jr. Bullitt Central Shepherdsville KY – Shelby is still developing her offensive game but she is a terror on the boards and is a fierce defender in the paint.

Madison Fritz – 5-10 Jr. Thomas Nelson Bardstown KY – Madison is a consistent player who is always around the ball.  She is a good rebounder who finishes at the rim.

Lillian Grimes – 5-6 So. Breckinridge County Harned KY – Grimes is a scoring point guard who loves to score and works hard to get open and to get to the basket.  She also has good range on her shot and is constantly on the move.

Kristen Hayes – 5-10 Sr. Madison Southern Berea KY – Kristen is listed as a SM who can score both inside or out.  May play some at the point this season, difficult to stop her penetration to the basket.

Denayia Holmes – 5-7 Sr. University Heights Hopkinsville KY – While Denayia was not called on to score a lot of points today she is an athletic combo guard with good basketball skills.

Madison Kaiser – 5-9 Sr. Floyd Central Floyds Knobs IN – Typical hard nosed “Hoosier” player, SM shoots, handles the ball, defends and has a high revving motor.

Briana Lanham – 5-8 Jr. Madison Southern Berea KY – Briana is a versatile scorer who battles aggressively in the paint but can step out and hit the jump shot.  A tireless worker in the paint and off the boards.

McKenzie Leigh – 6-1 Jr. Highlands Ft. Thomas KY – Versatile, can either play with her back to the basket or step out and hit the jump shot.

Torri Mitchell – 6-0 Sr. Rowan County Morehead KY – Torri is a solid scorer on the perimeter and very consistent.

Bethany Orr – 5-11 Fr. Thomas Nelson Bardstown KY – Good post skills, polished beyond her years, watch in future.

Aaliyah Rodgers – 5-3 Sr. Caldwell County Princeton KY – Aaliyah is a PG who gets to the rim consistently and is a fierce defender.

Abbey Van Zant – 5-4 Sr. South Oldham Crestwood KY – Abbey has good PG skills and directs the offense flawlessly.

Kacie Wallace – 5-5 Sr. Henderson County Henderson KY – Kacie is a PG who can shoot, put the ball on the floor, and find the open man.

Wesli Washington – 5-6 Jr. Owensboro Owensboro KY – 2G can score off penetration, shoots the ball well, and defends, good all around skills.

Ashton Woodard – 5-9 Jr. Menifee County Frenchburg KY – Ashton is a versatile combo wing player who can post up her defender, consistent scorer today.

Game 3 Indiana 93  Tennessee 79 – Indiana utilized balanced scoring as six players recorded double figures in their victory.  Akaya Walker led the way with 13 points including three three point baskets.  Emily Bohannon and Kerigan Davis added 12 points each.  Ashton Woodard and Kiara Campbell each scored 11 points and Sydney Jones chipped in with 10 points.  Katie Downey led Tennessee with 12 points.  Tori French, , Madison Fritz, and Tori Loomis added eight points each.

Game 4 Kentucky 85  Ohio 81- Briana Lanham, Madison Kaiser, and Wesli Washington paced the victors with 13 points each.  JK Cummings added 11 points and Katrina Headlee chipped in with 10 points.  Lillian Grimes led Ohio with 22 points including three three points and displayed her scoring versatility.  Kristen Hayes added 16 points including two three point baskets.  Holly Kallmeyer impressed with her versatility and ability to hit the boards.

Game 5 Indiana 93  Kentucky 82 – Indiana pulled away late to earn the championship and finish with a 3-0 record.  Kentucky finishes at 2-1.  The victors were led by Kerigan Davis, Akaya Walker, and Sydney Jones with 16, 11, and 10 points respectively.  Ashton Woodard and Emily Bohannon each scored nine points.  Abbey Van Zant led Kentucky with 12 points including two three point baskets.  Katrina Headlee and Taylor Reffett added 10 and eight points respectively.

Game 6 Ohio 102  Tennessee 61Lillian Grimes, Alexis Burpo, Aaliyah Rodgers, and Kristen Hayes led the victors with 16, 15, 15, and 12 points respectively.  Bethany Orr and Katie Downey led Tennessee with 11 and nine points respectively.

The statistics mentioned here are not official but were recorded by me at courtside and should be fairly accurate.  There is a lot more to the game than scoring and several girls impressed with their skills and intangibles.  A perfect example of this was Mckenzie Leigh who was on a team with several scorers and proved she could score with 13 points in the first game but was not called on to score as much in the remaining two games.  However, she was a major contributor in these games with all around play and shows the ability to either play with her back to the basket or step out and knock down the jump shot.
