Tates Creek finally prevailed 41-35 in overtime over Paul Laurence Dunbar in a game that had more plot changes than a murder mystery.  Tates Creek led 21-14 in the second quarter before Dunbar tacked on a touchdown and conversion kick late in the quarter to cut the deficit to 21-14 at halftime.  Dunbar continued to rally in the second half and took a 35-21 lead with 9:39 remaining in the game.  Tates Creek rallied to tie the game on a 5 yard run by Dylan Adkins and a kick with 1:32 left in regulation.  Dunbar had the ball first in overtime but a field goal attempt was blocked and Tates Creek took over and Laron Warner scored on a 10 yard run to give Tates Creek the victory.  On a somber note Dunbar star Dontell Brown left the game in the first half with a knee injury.

Tates Creek recorded 15 first downs and 509 yards of total offense.  The Commodores were penalized five times for 36 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.  Paul Laurence Dunbar recorded 25 first downs and 408 yards of total offense.  The Bulldogs were penalized four times for 17 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.  Dunbar ran 84 plays on offense compared to 57 for Tates Creek.

Laron Warner led Tates Creek’s ground game with 58 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.  Cameron Workman completed nine of 17 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.  Luke Duby completed six of 11 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown with one interception.  Turner Gentry caught five passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns.  Jackson Beerman added four receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns.  Langston Love returned two kickoffs for 85 yards with a long return of 43 yards.  Dylan Adkins led the defense with 11 solo and four assisted tackles with three of his losses resulting in losses totaling 10 yards and recovered a fumble.  Darryl Bell added six solo and three assisted tackles.  Xavier Johnson recorded four solo and five assisted tackles.

Nate Gay led Dunbar’s ground game with 109 yards on 25 carries.  Alex Bard carried the ball 12 times for 57 yards and two touchdowns.  Gavin Bugg completed 17 of 32 passes for 201 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Tre Homer caught seven passes for 68 yards.  Isaiah Yeast added six receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown.  K. Whiteside punted six times for a 42.5 average with a long kick of 48 yards.  Carter Hayslett led the defense with seven solo and three assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards and intercepted a pass.  Luke Hernandez added two solo and five assisted tackles.
