Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-6 Sr. Brice Scott, 6-2 Sr. John Poulton, 6-6 Sr. Josh Gowing, 6-0 Sr. Patrick Geoghegan, and 6-6 So. Ben Johnson. Lexington Christian Academy countered with 6-2 Sr. Will Hacker, 6-1 Sr. Matthew Johnson, 6-7 Sr. Kyle Rode, 5-10 Sr. Baylor Brown, and 6-0 Sr. Pearce Dalton.
Lexington Catholic rallied to defeat Lexington Christian Academy in overtime by a score of 54-49. LCA had a two point lead late in regulation but missed two free throws and Ben Johnson hit a lay up in the final seconds to force overtime. Johnson did not score until the final quarter tonight. There were six ties and eight leaders in the game. It was a game of contrasting styles and results tonight as LCA held a 30-18 advantage in three point points while Lexington Catholic held a 24-8 advantage on points in the paint.
Lexington Catholic shot 42.2% from the field including six of 19 from the three point line. The Knights connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 LCA turnovers. LCA shot 41.5% from the field including 10 of 29 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on five of 12 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 12 Lexington Catholic turnovers.
6-4 Jr. Luke Wedding led Lexington Catholic with 17 points including five three point baskets and six rebounds. Brice Scott added 10 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals. Ben Johnson recorded nine points and five rebounds. Patrick Geoghegan also scored nine points.
Will Hacker led LCA with 22 points including six three point baskets. Kyle Rode added 11 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Pearce Dalton recorded eight points and five rebounds.
