Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-6 Sr. Brice Scott, 6-2 Sr. John Poulton, 6-6 Sr. Josh Gowing, 6-0 Sr. Patrick Geoghegan, and 6-3 So. Ben Johnson.  Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III countered with 5-10 Sr. Evan Dreux, 5-8 Sr. Caleb True, 6-9 Jr. Ray Surratt, 5-5 So. Daniel Kinley, and 5-6 So. Campbell DeYoung.

 

Lexington Catholic led 37-35 after three quarters but Lafayette outscored the Knights 14-8 in the final quarter for a 49-45 victory.  The score was tied five times and there were four lead changes in the game.  Lafayette shot 56.3% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 12 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 45% from the field including six of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 17 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Ray Surratt led Lafayette with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots, and four steals.  Caleb True added 11 points including three three point baskets.  6-2 Sr. Javen Hardin recorded eight points including four of five free throws.

 

Ben Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 18 points including four three point baskets and four assists.  Brice Scott added 11 points and five rebounds.  Patrick Geoghegan recorded 10 points including two three point baskets.

Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Lorenzo Williams, 6-1 Sr. Glenn Covington, 6-2 Sr. Bryce Long, 5-9 Sr. Cam Fluker, and 5-9 Sr. Diablo Stewart.  (All-State 6-7 Sr. Michael Moreno is out with an injury).  Trinity coach Mike Szabo countered with 6-3 Sr. Jamil Hardaway, 6-1 So. Ethan Hodge, 6-4 Sr. Stan Turnier, 5-9 Sr. Kolton Rice, and 6-0 Sr. Kamari Kenemore. (All-State 6-4 Sr. David Johnson is out with an injury).

 

Scott County pulled out a hard fought 56-53 victory over Trinity.  There were three lead changes and four ties in this game.  Scott County shot 32.7% from the field including three of 18 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 21 of 28 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 15 Trinity turnovers.  Trinity shot 46.9% from the field including seven of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Shamrocks connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Scott County turnovers.

 

Diablo Stewart led Scott County with 25 points including two three point baskets, 11 of 12 free throws, and three steals.  Bryce Long added 15 points and seven rebounds.  Lorenzo Williams recorded seven points and six rebounds.

 

Ethan Hodge led Trinity with 17 points including eight of 10 free throws.  Kamari Kenemore added 10 points.  Stan Turnier recorded nine points.  Jamil Hardaway added seven points and nine rebounds.

South Laurel lost a 15 point lead in the fourth quarter and eventually lost a 97-87 overtime loss to Scott High School.  The fourth quarter proved to be the downfall for the Lady Cardinals as Scott outscored them 23-15 to force overtime and they didn’t fare any better in overtime as Scott outscored them 15-5 in the extra stanza.  Scott won the battle of the boards 37-24 and South Laurel did not have an answer for Mya Meredith as she torched the Lady Cardinals for 44 points with most of her baskets being in the paint.

 

Scott shot 57.5% from the field including one of five from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 12 of 20 free throws, and pulled down 37 rebounds.  South Laurel shot 52.4% from the field including 12 of 34 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on eight of 11 free throws and pulled down 24 rebounds.

 

5-10 So. Mya Meredith led Scott with 44 points including six of eight free throws and nine rebounds.  5-9 So. Sofia Allen added 27 points and seven rebounds.  5-6 Sr. Emma Profitt recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds.

 

5-7 Jr. Ally Collett led South Laurel with 28 points including four three point baskets.  5-8 Jr. Amerah Steele added 26 points including four three point baskets.  6-0 Sr. Dianna Morgan recorded 14 points and six rebounds.  5-7 Jr. Syndie Hall chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets.

Lexington Christian Academy coach Nate Valentine started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Will Hacker, 6-1 Sr. Matthew Johnson, 6-7 Sr. Kyle Rode, 5-10 Sr. Baylor Brown, and 6-0 Sr. Pearce Dalton.  West Jessamine coach Damon Kelley countered with 6-3 So. DeAjuan Stepp, 6-2 Sr. Braeden Fomas, 6-3 Sr. Michael Thalacker, 6-0 Sr. Yallen Woods, and 6-0 Sr. Brandon Childers.

 

West Jessamine trailed 47-42 after three quarters but rallied in the final quarter to earn a 69-62 victory over Lexington Christian Academy.  West Jessamine shot 61.4% from the field including seven of 11 from the three point line.  The Colts connected on eight of 20 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 19 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 44.7% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 15 of 17 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 West Jessamine turnovers.

 

6-0 Sr. Dalton Bruner led West Jessamine with 25 points including four three point baskets and four assists.  DeAjuan Stepp added 17 points and three assists.  6-0 So. Nate Breeden chipped in with nine points.  Yallen Woods recorded eight points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and three steals.

 

Kyle Rode led Lexington Christian Academy with 22 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Matthew Johnson added 16 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds.

Scott County defeated Paul Laurence Dunbar by a score of 88-53.  Scott County recorded 22 steals and scored 30 points off 23 Dunbar turnovers.  Scott County shot 53% from the field including 14 of 32 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on four of six free throws and pulled down 30 rebounds.  Dunbar shot 40% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Scott County turnovers.

 

Morgan DeFoor led Scott County with 23 points including five three point baskets, four rebounds, and four steals.  Maaliya Owens added 19 points including four three point baskets, six assists, and nine steals.  Owens also reached the 2,000 point plateau tonight.  Malea Williams recorded 18 points, six rebounds, and two steals. 

 

Elise Ellison-Coons led Dunbar with 14 points including seven of eight free throws.  Riley Feddock added 13 points including three three point baskets.  Cheyenne Fullwood chipped in with 10 points.

Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Lorenzo Williams, 6-1 Sr. Glenn Covington, 6-2 Sr. Bryce Long, 5-9 Sr. Cam Fluker, and 5-9 Sr. Diablo Stewart.  (6-7 Sr. All-State Michael Moreno is still out with an injury).  Madison Central coach  Allen Feldhaus Jr. countered with 6-4 So. Kole Browne, 6-1 So. Braeden Ray, 6-8 Sr. Isaiah Cozart, 5-10 Sr. Deion Cox, and 5-10 Sr. Quae. Charlton.

 

Scott County defeated Madison Central 73-70 in another classis game featuring two legendary coaches and programs with rich traditions.  Madison Central led 49-32 mid way through the third quarter but Scott County led by a great fourth quarter performance by Glenn Covington and missed free throws (only 11 of 21 made free throws) in the final quarter led to the victory.  Covington scored the last nine points of the game for the Cardinals to offset a superhuman performance by Madison Central star Isaiah Cozart who tallied 33 points, 23 rebounds, and seven blocked shots.

 

Scott County shot 39.1% from the field including four of 23 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 19 of 27 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 21 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 50% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 22 of 32 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored nine points off 10 Scott County turnovers.

 

Glenn Covington led Scott County with 18 points including two three point baskets and six of six free throws.  Bryce Long added 16 points.  Lorenzo Williams recorded 13 points including seven of 11 free throws, 10 rebounds, and four steals.  Diablo Stewart also scored 13 points and four rebounds.

 

Isaiah Cozart led Madison Central with 33 points, 23 rebounds, and seven blocked shots.  Cozart was 10 of 14 from the field and 13 of 17 from the free throw line.  Quae. Charlton added 18 points including six of seven free throws and five rebounds.

Maaliya Owens led Scott County with 26 points including four three point baskets.  Malea Williams added 15 points, 18 rebounds, three blocked shots, and three steals.  Juliette Smith recorded 16 points and six assists.  Morgan DeFoor chipped in with 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists.  Kenady Tomkins pulled down nine rebounds.

 

Regi Cundiff led Southwestern with 13 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Kennedy Harris added eight points including two three point baskets.  Kylie Forman recorded seven points and six rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Kallie Sheron added six points and three rebounds.
