Eastern Kentucky raced out to a 22-13 lead after the first quarter and was never threatened in a 62-45 victory over University Tennessee Chattanooga.  Eastern Kentucky shot 43.4% from the field including four of 10 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, scored 18 points off 23 Chattanooga turnovers, and held a 27-8 advantage in bench scoring.  Chattanooga shot 25.5% from the field including six of 31 from beyond the arc.  The Mocs connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 18 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

 

Jayla Johnson led Eastern Kentucky with 18 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Kendall Wingler added eight points including two three point baskets and three rebounds.  6-3 So. Emma Hacker added eight points, five rebounds, and two steals.  5-9 Fr. Alice Recanati recorded seven points, two rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  5-10 Jr. Kynnedy Azubike and 6-1 So. Anysa Jordan each scored six points.  Amerah Steele pulled down six rebounds.

 

Eboni Williams led Chattanooga with 14 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.  Amaria Pugh added 10 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and two steals.  5-7 So. Dena Jarrells recorded six points on two three point baskets.  Bria Dial chipped in with five points, five rebounds, six assists, and three steals.  Abbey Cornelius added five points and six rebounds.

Eastern Kentucky University defeated Morehead State University by the score of 74-59.  Eastern Kentucky University shot 37.7% from the field including seven of 23 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and committed 14 turnovers.  Morehead State University shot 33.9% from the field including four of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 17 of 21 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and committed 17 turnovers.

 

5-9 Fr. Alice Recanati led Eastern Kentucky University with 17 points including six of eight free throws, nine rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots.  Jayla Johnson added 16 points including five of six free throws, five rebounds, and two steals.  5-10 Jr. Kynnedy Azubike recorded 12 points and three rebounds.  Kendall Wingler added 11 points including three three point baskets, eight rebounds, and three assists.

Eastern Kentucky University rallied from a three point deficit with 15 seconds left in the game to earn a 50-49 victory over Morehead State University.  Corriana Evans hit a jumper to pull within one; 49-48 with 14 seconds remaining in the game.  Eastern Kentucky fouled but Lai’Janique Perry- Ellis missed both free throws and the Colonels got the rebound.  5-9 Fr. Alice Recanati hit two free throws with nine seconds remaining to give the Colonels a 50-49 lead.  Morehead State had one last opportunity but turned the ball over to ensure the victory for Eastern Kentucky.  The score was tied eight times and there were 11 lead changes in the game. Eastern Kentucky shot 30.2% from the field including two of 17 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 16 of 23 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 24 Morehead State turnovers.  Morehead State shot 30.2% from the field including two of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 48 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 21 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

 

Kendall Wingler led Eastern Kentucky with 12 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and three steals.  Corriana Evans added 10 points, four rebounds, and three steals.  5-9 Fr. Alice Recanati recorded nine points, four rebounds, and three steals.  Amerah Steele chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.  Bria Bass pulled down six rebounds.

 

Gabby Crawford led Morehead State with 14 points including six of eight free throws and five rebounds.  Jazzmyn Elston added 14 points including two three point baskets.  Ariel Kirkwood recorded four points, 15 rebounds, six assists, four blocked shots, and two steals.  Lauren Carter pulled down 10 rebounds.  6-1 Jr. Ellie Jo Johnson chipped in with six points, four rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.

Eastern Kentucky’s young squad got their baptism of fire on the road against nationally ranked Indiana as they trailed 34-8 after the first quarter on their way to a 100-51 loss.  Indiana shot 54.7% from the field including nine of 26 from the three point line.  They connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 56 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 12 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  They held a decisive 60-12 advantage on points in the paint.  Eastern Kentucky shot 25% from the field including nine of 30 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on two of six free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored seven points off eight Indiana turnovers.

 

MacKenzie Holmes led Indiana with 26 points on 13 of 13 from the field, eight rebounds, two steals, and seven blocked shots.  Ali Patberg added 18 points. Grace Berger recorded 17 points including two three point baskets,10 rebounds, and 10 assists..  6-2 Jr. Danielle Patterson chipped in with 14 points including two three point baskets.  6-0 So. Tennessee State University rallied late to earn a 67-64 victory over Tennessee State University in a come-from-behind victory.  The score was tied four times and there were seven lead changes in the game.  Tennessee State shot 40% from the field including nine of 23 from the three point line.  The Tigers connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 20 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 37.9% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 14 of 18 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Tennessee State turnovers.

 

Jazmine Young led Tennessee State with 23 points and three assists.  Jaden Wrightsell added 20 points including three three point baskets12 rebounds, two assists, and four steals.  Deaja Richardson recorded 11 points including two three point baskets.  Andreana Wrister chipped in with nine points including three three point baskets.  Jasmine Broner added two points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.

 

Teri Goodlett led Eastern Kentucky with 19 points including four three point baskets, six rebounds, and four assists.  5-11 Jr. Bria Bass added 13 points including six of six free throws, and nine rebounds.  I’Liyah Green recorded eight points, six rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot, and four steals.  5-6 Jr. Qay Stanton chipped in with seven points, five rebounds, and six assists.

Eastern Kentucky University coach Samantha Williams started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Samari Mowbray, 5-10 Fr. Maleaha Bell, 6-2 Jr. I’Liyah Green, 5-6 Jr. Teri Goodlett, and 5-6 Jr. Qay Stanton.  Austin Peay University coach David Midlick countered with 6-0 So. Maggie Knowles, 5-8 Fr. Ella Sawyer, 6-1 Sr. Arielle Gonzalez-Varner, 5-6 Jr. Brianah Ferby, and 5-6 Jr. Brandi Ferby.

 

Austin Peay defeated Eastern Kentucky by the score of 69-53.  Austin Peay shot 39.4% from the field including 12 of 32 from the three point line.  The Governors connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 27 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 45.2% from the field including one of six from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 13 Austin Peay turnovers.

 

Brandi Ferby led Austin Peay with 17 points including four three point baskets and four rebounds.  Ella Sawyer added 11 points including three three point baskets and three rebounds.  Maggie Knowles recorded nine points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and five steals.  5-7 So. Kasey Kidwell chipped in with seven points. 

 

Teri Goodlett led Eastern Kentucky University with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  I’Liyah Green added 14 points and eight rebounds.  6-1 Fr. Anysa Jordan recorded 11 points and five rebounds.  Qay Stanton added nine points, six rebounds, and three assists.
