Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey started the following lineup: 6-6 Jr. Trey Skaggs, 6-4 Sr. Will Hardin, 6-7 Sr. Robby Todd, 5-11 So. Parker Mullins, and 6-5 Jr. Jaylen Davis.  Berea coach Eric Fields connected on 6-0 So. Shawn Kiett, 5-10 So. Trenton Wilson, 6-0 Jr. Canon Cummins, 5-6 Sr. Quenten Morgan, and 5-8 Fr. Cameron Puckett.

 

Madison Central raced out to a 45-10 halftime lead on their way to a 70-25 victory over Berea.  Madison Central shot 42.9% from the field including seven of 21 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 20 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 22.9% from the field including one of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Pirates connected on two of four free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored four points off 20 Berea turnovers.

 

Jaylen Davis led Madison Central with 19 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Will Hardin added 16 points, six rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.  Trey Skaggs recorded 12 points and six assists.  Robby Todd chipped in with eight points, six rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals.

 

Cameron Puckett led Berea with 11 points and three rebounds.  Quenten Morgan added four points and four rebounds.

Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey started the following lineup: 5-10 So. Bailey Hensley, 5-7 So. Eden Carter, 5-9 Sr. Kessaney Melton, 5-7 Fr. Brittany Campbell, and 5-6 Fr. Nataya Strader.  Berea coach Dammian Stepp countered with 5-8 Sr. Alexis Newman, 5-7 Jr. Abigail Beard, 5-9 Jr. Chesney Lovins, 5-5 Sr. Isis Rodgers, and 5-6 Sr. Mati Stepp.

 

Berea raced out to a 15-4 first quarter lead but Madison Central scored 12 consecutive points to take a 16-15 lead.  However Berea regained control of the game and pulled away in the final quarter for a 46-33 victory.  Berea scored 30 points in the paint and repeatedly got open and were rewarded by crisp passes from Mati Stepp that resulted in easy baskets.  Berea shot 55.2% from the field including one of six from the three point line.  The Lady Pirates connected on 13 of 17 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 25.5% from the field including three of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on four of nine free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 Berea turnovers.

 

Chesney Lovins led Berea with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists.  Lovins was seven of eight from the field and four of five from the free throw line.  Mati Stepp added 13 points, four rebounds, and six assists.  Alexis Newman recorded nine points and nine rebounds.

 

Bailey Hensley led Madison Central with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.  Brittany Campbell added six points on two three point baskets, three rebounds, and two assists.

Jay Rose led Madison Southern with 21 points including three three point baskets, four of six free throws, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  6-5 Jr. Brett Erslan added 12 points and nine rebounds.  6-1 So. Zach Hudson recorded seven points including four of four free throws and seven rebounds.  Casen Nobbe chipped in with five points, seven assists, and five steals.

Hadley French led Madison Southern with 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Morgan Flannery added 11 points including five of five free throws, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Macie Daniels recorded nine points and nine rebounds.  Bella Moberly chipped in with four points, six rebounds, and two steals.

North Laurel earned a hard fought 83-77 victory on the road against a talented Corbin team.  North Laurel shot 58.9% from the field including 11 of 27 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on six of nine free throws and pulled down 29 rebounds.  Corbin shot 40.6% from the field including nine of 29 from beyond the arc.  The Red Hounds connected on 12 of 19 free throws and pulled down 26 rebounds.

 

6-4 Jr. Ryan Davidson led North Laurel with 29 oints and 10 rebounds.  Reed Sheppard added 26 points including three three point baskets, three of four free throws, and nine rebounds.  5-11 Sr. Clay Sizemore recorded 17 points including five three point baskets.

Pleasure Ridge Park led 48-34 early in the fourth quarter but Western rallied and finally won the game on a short jump shot by Kaden Magwood in the closing seconds of the second overtime for a 69-68 victory.  Pleasure Ridge Park’s 6-8 Jr. Victor Lado fouled out in the final minutes left in regulation leaving PRP with a distinct disadvantage against the size of the Western frontline.  Western shot 41.8% from the field including six of 19 from the three point line.  The Warriors connected on 17 of 26 free throws, and pulled down 55 rebounds.  Pleasure Ridge Park shot 43.1% from the field including three of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on 15 of 26 free throws and pulled down 32 rebounds.

 

6-2 Fr. Kaden Magwood led Western with 24 points including three three point baskets and 10 rebounds.  5-11 Jr. Trent Hinkle added 14 points including seven of eight free throws.  6-6 Fr. Julius Edmonds recorded 13 points including five of six free throws and 14 rebounds.  6-8 So. Jayden Miles and 6-8 So. Jaylen Ellis added 14 and 10 rebounds respectively.

Mataya Ausmus got open behind the defense to score a last second layup on a pass from Nadine Johnson to give Bell County a 70-68 victory over Corbin.  Seconds earlier Corbin had knotted the score at 68-68 on a three point basket by Shelby Stewart.  Bell County shot 48% including 11 of 21 from the three point line.  The Lady Bobcats connected on 11 of 15 free throws and pulled down 35 rebounds.  Corbin shot 39.7% from the field including 12 of 29 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Red Hounds connected on 10 of 12 free throws and pulled down 27 rebounds.

 

6-1 So. Gracie Jo Wilder led Bell County with 26 points including two three point baskets, six of eight free throws, and 14 rebounds.  5-4 Jr. Mataya Ausmus added 14 points including four three point baskets.  5-5 Fr. The 13th Regions’ top two teams clashed tonight in a battle of the titans before a deafening crowd tonight for bragging rights in the region.  Knox Central was without the services of their outstanding big man 6-6 240 pound So. Gavin Chadwell and North Laurel had the disadvantage of playing before a loud, partisan crowd.  North Laurel captured a 90-86 decision in a game that lived up to its advanced billing.  North Laurel raced out to an early advantage and led 26-11 at the end of the first quarter.  However as expected Knox Central battled back and trailed 70-67 after three quarters.  Knox Central pulled to within 1; 75-74 mid way through the final stanza  but North Laurel hit their free throws down the stretch to ensure the victory.

 

North Laurel shot 47.3% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 12 of 15 free throws and pulled down 31 rebounds.  Knox Central shot 47.8% from the field including seven of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on 15 of 18 free throws and pulled down 43 rebounds.

Evan Ipsaro led Covington Catholic with 17 points including six of six free throws, four rebounds, nine assists, and two steals.  Chandler Starks added 16 points including six of seven free throws, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Mitchell Rylee recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds.
