Morgantown vs. Wheeling Park (Girls) Class 4A Championship

Morgantown coach Jason White started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Sofia Wassick, 5-8 Sr. Kate Hawkins, 6-0 Jr. Lily Jordan, 5-4 Sr. Mia Henkins, and 5-7 Sr. Lindsay Bechtel. Wheeling Park coach Ryan Young countered with 5-9 Sr. Sophie Abraham, 5-8 So. Alexis Bordas, 5-10 Jr. Jillian Huffman, 5-6 So. Lala Woods, and 5-7 Jr. Natalie Daugherty.

Morgantown trailed 36-32 after three quarters but rallied to earn a 54-50 victory over Wheeling Park. There were nine ties and eight lead changes in this game. Morgantown shot 34.7% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line. The Mohigans connected on 18 of 22 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Wheeling Park turnovers. Wheeling Park shot 38% from the field including five of 17 from beyond the arc. The Lady Patriots connected on seven of seven free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Morgantown turnovers.

Lily Jordan led Morgantown with 18 points including six of nine free throws, 13 rebounds, and four assists. Sofia Wassick added 14 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Kate Hawkins recorded 12 points including two three point baskets, six of six free throws, seven rebounds, and two steals. Lindsay Bechtel chipped in with eight points including four of five free throws, and five rebounds,

Alexis Bordas led Wheeling Park with 24 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and four steals. Lala Woods added 14 points including five of five free throws, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Tucker County coach Dave Helmick started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Ericka Zirk, 5-10 Jr. Avery Colebank, 6-1 Sr. Kadie Colebank, 5-8 Jr. Brylee Wetzel, and 5-8 Jr. Macy Helmick. Cameron coach Holy Pettit countered with 5-9 Jr. Ashlee Dobbs, 5-7 Jr. Maci Neely, 6-3 Jr. Ashlynn Van Tassell, 5-6 Jr. Kenzie Clutter, and 5-6 Jr. Emilee Dobbs.

Cameron defeated Tucker County by the score of 53-46. Cameron shot 40.4% from the field including one of 19 from the three point line. The Dragons connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Tucker County turnovers. Tucker County shot 37% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc. The Mountain Lions connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Cameron turnovers.

Ashlynn Van Tassell led Cameron with 24 points including 10 of 12 from the field, four of eight from the free throw line, 15 rebounds, and four blocked shots. Maci Neely added 14 points, two rebounds, and three steals. Kenzie Clutter recorded seven points, six rebounds, and seven assists. 5-7 Sr. Gracie Carter chipped in with four points and six rebounds.

Kadie Colebank led Tucker County with 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. Ericka Zirk added 11 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Macy Helmick recorded 10 points and four assists.

Wyoming East defeated Summers County by the score of 57-41. Wyoming East shot 51.4% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line. The Warriors connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored nine points off 10 Summers County turnovers. Summers County shot 37.8% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bobcats connected on three of seven free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 13 Wyoming East turnovers.

Maddie Clark led Wyoming East with 17 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Abby Russell added 13 points including three three point baskets. Colleen Lookabill recorded 12 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.

Sullivan Pivont led Summers County with 15 points including three three point baskets and two steals. Liv Meador added 12 points, four assists, and two steals. Grace Harvey recorded eight points and six rebounds.

The Lady Huskies connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and committed 18 turnovers. Philip Barbour shot 35.7% from the field including three of 18 from beyond the arc. The Lady Colts connected on seven of 16 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and committed 14 turnovers.

Olivia Toland led North Marion with 18 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, nine assists, and two steals. Emma Freels added 18 points including four three point baskets, two rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and four steals. 5-3 Fr. Brooklyn Jackson recorded 13 points including three three point baskets. Aubrey Hamilton chipped in with 12 points, 13 rebounds, and two assists.

Mackenna Halfin led Philip Barbour with 16 points, 13 rebounds, six blocked shots, and three steals. Braylyn Sparks added 14 points, four rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Averi Carpenter recorded 14 points including two three point baskets. Arrington Sparks chipped in with nine points, two rebounds, and four steals. Mattie Marsh added six points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Parkersburg South vs. Morgantown (Boys) Class 4A Championship

Parkersburg South coach Mike Fallon started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Austin Reeves, 6-3 Jr. Jackson Smith, 6-8 Sr. Nathan Plotner, 6-2 Sr. Cyrus Traugh, and 6-3 Sr. Aiden Blake. Morgantown coach David Tallman countered with 6-6 Sr, Cam Danser, 6-5 Sr. Brody Davis, 6-7 Sr. Garrison Kisner, 5-11 Jr. Izzy Everett, and 6-0 Jr. Sha-Ron Young.

Morgantown defeated Parkersburg South by the score of 65-58. The score was tied six times and there were eight lead changes in this game. Morgantown shot 52.3% from the field including nine of 15 from the three point line. The Mohigans connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and 21 points off 18 Parkersburg South turnovers. Parkersburg South shot 42.3% from the field including seven of 19 from beyond the arc. The Patriots connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 16 Morgantown turnovers.

Brody Davis led Morgantown with 18 points including four three point baskets, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Sha-Ron Young added 17 points including two three point baskets, 10 rebounds, nine assists, two blocked shots, and five steals. Izzy Everett recorded 14 points including three three point baskets. Garrison Kisner chipped in with nine points, two rebounds, and two assists.

The Mavericks connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Tucker County turnovers. Tucker County shot 31.4% from the field including one of 17 from beyond the arc. Eli Allen led James Monroe with 29 points including four three point baskets, four assists, and three steals. Josh Burks added 13 points including four of five free throws, and two rebounds. Zion Blevins led Chapmanville Regional with 19 points on eight of 10 field goals including one of two from the three points line, two of three free throws, three rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Brody Dalton added 16 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Sal Dean recorded 14 points including four three point baskets, five rebounds, seven assists, and two blocked shots.

Jayallen Turner led Charleston Catholic with 26 points including 11 of 15 from the field, three of four from the three point line, one of two free throws, and eight rebounds. Max Wilcox added 16 points, three rebounds, and three steals. Kelan Swan recorded five points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Shady Spring shot 44.1% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 12 Fairmont Senior turnovers.

DeSean Goode led Fairmont Senior with 18 points including eight of 10 from the field, one of two from the three point line, one of one free throws, and eight rebounds. 5-10 Fr. Julz Butler added 10 points including two three point baskets. Andre Grant recorded nine points, three rebounds, and two steals. Connor Gower chipped in with nine points including two three point baskets and two assists. Zycheus Dobbs added one point, four rebounds, six assists, and two blocked shots.

Braden Chapman led Shady Spring with 23 points including three three point baskets, two assists, and three steals. Ammar Mawell added 13 points, two assists, and two steals.

Southwood vs. Indianapolis Lutheran (Boys) Class 1A Championship

Southwood coach Christian Perry started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Cole Winer, 6-2 Jr. Will Winer, 6-4 Sr. Dylan Stout, 6-0 Sr. Nathan Lehner, and 6-1 Sr. Jason Oprisek. Indianapolis Lutheran coach Remus Woods countered with 6-3 So. Cayden Loescher, 5-11 Sr. Durray Smith, 6-5 Sr. Kaiden Patterson, 5-10 So. LJ Ward, and 6-1 Sr, Aiden Alialy.

Indianapolis Lutheran outscored Southwood 36-16 in the second quarter on their way to a 97-66 victory. Indianapolis Lutheran shot 50.7% from the field including six of 21 from the three point line. The Saints connected on 17 of 20 free throws, pulled down 52 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 24 Southwood turnovers. Southwood shot 37.3% from the field including one of 11 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on 15 of 28 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 Indianapolis Lutheran turnovers.

Cayden Loescher led a balanced Indianapolis Lutheran scoring attack with 22 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots. Durray Smith added 21 points including five three point baskets, four rebounds, and two assists. LJ Ward recorded 17 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, six steals, and four blocked shots. 6-5 Sr. Kameron Patterson chipped in with 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and two blocked shots. Kaiden Patterson added 10 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

Jason Oprisek led Southwood with 17 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Cole Winer added 15 points and six rebounds. Will Winer recorded 13 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Nathan Lehner chipped in with eight points and six rebounds. Dylan Stout added eight points, eight rebounds, two assists, three steals, three blocked shots.

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian vs. Linton-Stockton (Boys) Class 2A Championship

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian coach Matt Roth started the following lineup: 6-8 So. Kellen Pickett, 6-5 Jr. Isaac Smith, 6-6 Sr. Josh Furst, 6-3 Sr. Jimmy Davidson, and 6-4 Sr. Gage Sefton. Linton-Stockton coach Noah Hawkins countered with 6-6 Sr. Joey Hart, 6-5 Jr. Braden Walters, 6-4 Sr. Nathan Frady, 6-3 Fr. Paul Oliver, and 6-3 Sr. Logan Webb.

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian captured their thid championship in five seasons with a 52-45 victory over Linton-Stockton. However this one did not come easy as Linton-Stockton behind the hot shooting of Joey Hart (18 first half points) led 29-18 at halftime and 35-33 after three quarters. The Braves ramped up their defense after the intermission and used Kellen Pickett to closely shadow Joey Hart and they outscored Linton-Stockton 19-10 in the final quarter to earn the win.

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian shot 42.5% from the field including six of 20 from the three point line. The Braves connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored six points off five Linton-Stockton turnovers. Linton-Stockton shot 26,4% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc. The Miners were only four of 27 from the field in the second half. The Miners connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian turnovers.

Kellen Pickett led Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian with 19 points including two three point baskets, five of seven free throws, nine rebounds, and four assists. Gage Sefton added 16 points and eight rebounds. Jimmy Davidson recorded nine points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

Joey Hart led Linton-Stockton with 23 points including five three point baskets. Logan Webb added 11 points including six of six free throws, and five rebounds. Nathan Frady recorded three points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.

Guerin Catholic coach Bobby Allen countered with 6-7 So. Bryson Cardinal, 6-2 Jr. Jack Cherry, 6-7 Jr. Dylan Murans, 5-11 Sr. Kamea Chandler, and 6-0 Jr. Robert Sorensen.

Northwood defeated Guerin Catholic 66-63 in overtime. Guerin Catholic trailed 44-35 after three quarters but rallied to force overtime. Northwood shot 46.9% from the field including eight of 18 from the three point line. The Panthers connected on 12 of 15 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Guerin Catholic turnovers. Guerin Catholic shot 42.9% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles connected on 17 of 19 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 13 Northwood turnovers.

Cade Brenner led Northwood with 28 points including five three point baskets, five of six free throws, six rebounds, and two assists. Tyler Raasch added 14 points, 13 rebounds, two steals, and five blocked shots. Ian Raasch recorded 13 points including five of six free throws, three rebounds, and three assists. Ethan Wolfe chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets and five assists. Brock Bontrager pulled down seven rebounds and dished out three assists.

Ben Davis concludes their undefeated season with a 53-41 victory over Kokomo. Ben Davis shot 44.4% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line. The Giants connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 15 Kokomo turnovers. Kokomo shot 42.2% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc. Franklin County trailed by 10 late in the game but staged a furious rally and missed a shot at short range in the closing seconds for the chance to tie. There were five ties and nine lead changes in the game. Lexington Catholic shot 41.7% from the field including six of 17 from the three point line. The Lady Knights connected on 15 of 24 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and committed 16 turnovers. Franklin County shot 37.1% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc. The Lady Flyers connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and committed 19 turnovers.


Katherine Truitt led Lexington Catholic with 24 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, and five steals. Mary Martin Hampton added 19 points including 10 of 15 free throws, five rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Lydia Kennedy recorded 14 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, five assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Lucy Nash pulled down eight rebounds and dished out four assists.

Lexington Catholic lost three starters due to fouls; Lucy Nash, Mary Martin Hampton, and Lydia Kennedy.

Niah Rhodes added 13 points including three three point baskets and four of four from the free throw line. Marcel Boyce Jr. hit two free throws with 14.5 seconds to give Akron Buchtel a 51-49 victory. Rocky River Lutheran West’s Joshua Meyer hit a basket in the lane at the buzzer that was originally thought to tie the game but after the referees reviewed the play the basket was waved off because the shot came after the horn. There were nine ties and 11 lead changes in this game. Akron Buchtel shot 47.2% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line. The Griffins connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored six points off five Rocky River Lutheran West turnovers. Rocky River Lutheran West shot 47.5% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc. The Longhorns connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Akron Buchtel turnovers.

Marcel Boyce Jr. led Akron Buchtel with 18 points including seven of 10 free throws, and pulled down six rebounds. Khoi Thurmon added 11 points including five of six free throws, and three assists. Jayden Maxwell recorded 10 points including two three point baskets. Amire Robinson chipped in with five points, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocked shots.

Alcoa rallied from a 45-39 deficit at the end of three quarters to defeat Frederick Douglass 59-58 on a layup by Jahvin Carter with four seconds remaining on the clock. There were five ties and nine lead changes in the game. Alcoa shot 43.4% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line. The Tornadoes connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 18 Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 47.4% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc. The Red Devils connected on one of three free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Alcoa turnovers.

Great Crossing trailed 14-10 at halftime but outscored Scott County 26-8 in the third quarter on their way to a 53-42 victory. There were two ties and three lead changes in this game.
