“Basketball on grass, fast break football, arcade football, whatever” this was a game for the ages. Lexington Christian Academy held on to defeat Bowling Green by the score of 56-52 in a game that featured a total of 108 points, 58 first downs and 1309 yards of total offense. This was supposed to be a showcase featuring LCA QB Cutter Boley and Bowling Green QB Deuce Bailey and they lived up to their advance billing. However, this night belonged to Brady Hensley who transferred from Madison Central to LCA. Brady carried the ball 30 times for 402 yards and five touchdowns and caught five passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

Lexington Christian Academy recorded 31 first downs and 800 yards of total offense. The Eagles were penalized six times for 44 yards, lost two fumbles, and had one pass intercepted. Bowling Green recorded 27 first downs and 509 yards of total offense. The Purples were penalized three times for 20 yards, lost two fumbles, and had one pass intercepted.

Brady Hensley led LCA with 402 yards and five touchdowns on 30 carries. BJ Evans added 41 yards on three carries. Cutter Boley completed 22 of 35 passes for 342 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Brady Hensley caught five passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Parker Chaney caught five passes for 85 yards. Saxton Howard chipped in with four receptions for 33 yards. Will Rich caught three passes for 72 yards and one touchdown. Nate Barnhardt added three receptions for 38 yards. Tyler King returned three kickoffs for 64 yards with a long return of 26 yards. Saxton Howard added two returns for 38 yards and Braylon Moss chipped in with two returns for 25 yards. Parker Chaney returned one kick for 24 yards. Hunter Adams led the defense with seven solo and six assisted tackles. Parker Chaney added six solo tackles and intercepted a pass he returned five yards. BJ Evans recorded four solo and two assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 18 yards. Jackson Dilloe recovered a fumble.

Javen Huddleston led Bowling Green’s ground game with 42 yards on nine carries. Deuce Bailey completed 31 of 42 passes for 478 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. Christopher Sweeney caught nine passes fgor 96 yards and a touchdown. Trevy Barber added eight receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown. Ethan Warder chipped in with eight catches for 83 yards. Matthew Klein caught four passes for 119 yards and one touchdown. Javen Huddleston added two receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown.Trevy Barber returned three kickoffs for 138 yards including a 90 yard return for a touchdown. Christopher Sweeney returned five kickoffs for 111 yards with a long return of 29 yards. Grayson Newman led the defense with five solo and eight assisted tackles and scored on a 31 yard fumble recovery return. AJ Woodard added five solo and two assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss. Evan Tuck recorded five solo and one assisted tackles. Jordan Green added two solo and three assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling eight yards. Max Buchanon chipped in with two solo and three assisted tackles and intercepted a pass he returned 19 yards for a touchdown. Brandon Gurley also recovered a fumble.

Trinity forced five Bryan Station turnovers in a 36-3 victory over the visiting Defenders tonight. Trinity recorded 10 first downs and 187 yards of total offense. The Shamrocks were penalized four times for 30 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted. Bryan Station recorded 15 first downs and 191 yards of total offense. The Defenders were penalized six times for 48 yards, lost three fumbles, and had two passes intercepted.

Clinton Sansbury led Trinity’s ground game with 113 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries. Jeremiah Lynn added 15 yards on two carries. Jackson Hepner completed five of six passes for 44 yards and a touchdown. Jeremiah Lynn caught two passes for nine yards. Lucas Sasser caught a 32 yard touchdown pass. Jeremiah Lynn had one punt return for 35 yards and one kickoff return for 37 yards. Carson Hilbert punted three times for a 37.7 average and kicked off five times for a 58.2 average with two touch backs. L. Mitchell led the defense with five solo tackles. Charles Schmidt added four solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a five yard loss. B. Enaney recorded two solo and one assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 21 yards. Jayden Lockhart scored on a 28 yard fumble recovery. William Tronzo and Lucas Sasser each recovered a fumble. B. Stafford and Andrew Davis each intercepted a pass.

Bayubahe Benit led the Bryan Station ground game with 43 yards on 10 carries. Trenton Cutwright completed 18 of 28 passes for 183 yards with two interceptions. JT Haskins Jr, caught six passes for 76 yards. Javari Burnett added six receptions for 57 yards. Dah’Von Frazier recorded five receptions for 53 yards. Z. White returned two kickoffs for 40 yards. Keelan Adams led the defense with three solo and one assisted tackles. Jah’Von Frazier added three solo and one assisted tackles. Dah’Von Fravier recorded three solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards and intercepted a pass. Taendre Clark recovered a fumble.

Conner ran their option offense flawlessly tonight in an impressive 45-21 victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar. Conner recorded 27 first downs and 396 yards of total offense. The Cougars were penalized eight times for 82 yards and had one pass intercepted. Paul Laurence Dunbar recorded 15 first downs and 328 yards of total offense. The Bulldogs were penalized 10 times for 80 yards and lost three fumbles.

Cordion Abernathy led Conner’s ground game with 146 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Wyatt Hatfield added 117 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Chase Caplinger chipped in with 27 yards on two carries. Wyatt Hatfield completed six of nine passes for 64 yards and a touchdown with one interception. Ben Fay caught four passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. Chase Caplinger returned one kickoff for 29 and Elliot Butcher returned a kickoff for 16 yards. Andrew Herron kicked six PATS, kicked a 29 yard field goal, punted once for 33 yards, and kicked off eight times for a 58.5 average and four touch backs. Ben Fay led the defense with four solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a one yard loss. Adam Duncan added two solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling nine yards. Evan Leitz recorded two solo and three assisted tackles and recovered a fumble. Austin Stephenson and Gabe Huff also recovered a fumble each.

Ethan Teall led Dunbar’s ground game with 33 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. Pacifique Nduwayo carried the ball nine times for 29 yards. Kotaro Nagano added 23 yards on three carries. Oldham County defeated Lafayette by the score of 35-14. There were a total of eight turnovers, 24 penalties, and 240 penalty yards assessed between the two teams and Lafayette was held to a -6 yards in 16 rushing attempts. Oldham County recorded 22 first downs and 386 yards of total offense. They were penalized 15 times for 155 yards, lost two fumbles, and had one pass intercepted. Lafayette recorded nine first downs and 101 yards of total offense. The Generals were penalized nine times for 85 yards, lost a fumble, and had four passes intercepted.

Caden Sheppard led Oldham County’s ground game with 139 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries. Derek Dees carried the ball 14 times for 116 yards and a touchdown. Kayden Osbourn chipped in with 70 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries. Derek Dees completed 11 of 14 passes for 76 yards. Isaac Bowman caught five passes for 28 yards. Miller Brown added three receptions for 22 yards. Miller Brown returned one punt for 15 yards. Isaac Bowman returned one kickoff for 31 yards. Nemo Jarber caught three passes for 34 yards. Kevin Amuri added two receptions for 23 yards. Nasie Andrews chipped in with two receptions for 22 yards. DJ Walker caught a 21 yard touchdown pass. Terraze Taylor returned two kickoffs for 49 yards with a long return of 36 yards. Dez Hanley led the defense with six solo and one assisted tackles. DJ Jones recorded four solo and five assisted tackles and recovered a fumble. Matt Hardin also recovered a fumble and Kevin Amuri scored on a 22 yard interception return.

Fleming County defeated Henry Clay by the score of 20-18. Henry Clay took an 18-7 lead with 8:18 left in the third quarter but Fleming County but scored touchdowns on a 65 yard interception return by Chris Collett and a five yard run by Austin Trent to give Fleming County a 20-18 lead after three quarters. Fleming County made the lead hold up and left town with the victory. Fleming County recorded 18 first downs and 305 yards of total offense. They were penalized three times for 45 yards and lost a fumble. Henry Clay recorded nine first downs and 223 yards of total offense. The Blue Devils were penalized five times for 44 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.

Austin Trent led Fleming County’s ground game with 246 yards and two touchdowns on 42 carries. Nate Ruark completed six of 12 passes for 49 yards. Landon Johnson caught five passes for 45 yards. Jordan Ham returned three kickoffs for 35 yards. Aiden Johnson led the defense with three solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 10 yards. Tates Creek buoyed by three interceptions defeated Eastern on the road by a score of 21-14. Tates Creek recorded seven first downs and 217 yards of total offense. The Commodores were penalized nine times for 85 yards and did not turn the ball over tonight. Eastern recorded 12 first downs and 268 yards of total offense. The Eagles were penalized twice for 10 yards and had three passes intercepted.

Mar’Quevion Smith led Tates Creek’s ground game with 59 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Andrew Witherington carried the ball six times for 33 yards. Andrew Witherington completed eight of 18 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. Senator Clay caught two passes for 64 yards. Luke Cooper added two receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown. Mason Jackson also caught two passes for 22 yards. Brody Dunham returned one kick off for 17 yards. Mason Jackson also returned a kickoff for 14 yards. Logan Julian led the defense with 10 solo tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards. Cardale Wright added eight solo tackles and Stephan Jones chipped in with six solo tackles. Detrell Jackson recorded three solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards. Brody Dunham added two solo tackles and intercepted two passes for 95 yards of return yardage including a 95 yard touchdown return. Senator Clay intercepted a pass he returned 18 yards. Emmanuel Castro punted six times for a 32.5 averaged and kicked off four times for a 58 yard average.

Cameron Russ led Eastern’s ground game with 74 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Tristen Martin added 25 yards on eight carries. Zane Wagner completed 13 of 25 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown with one interception. Joshua Shipley completed two of four passes for four yards with two interceptions. Cameron Russ caught seven passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. Tristen Martin added three receptions for 39 yards. Joshua Shipley caught two passes for 70 yards. Joshua Shipley returned three punts for 17 yards and one kickoff for 42 yards. Nathan Wagner returned two kickoffs for 84 yards with a long return of 55 yards. William Bird led the defense with six solo tackles. Lcory Points added five solo and two assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a one yard loss. Grayson Napier recorded four solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss. Tyler Tribble added four solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a seven yard loss.

Leslie County coach Larry Sparks started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Baylee Davidson, 5-7 Sr. Courtney Hoskins, 6-0 Sr. Emma Napier, 5-3 Jr. Eden Melton, and 5-4 Jr. Iris Napier. Covington Holy Cross coach Ted Arlinghaus countered with 5-9 Sr. Nejai Lewis, 5-9 Jr. Miyah Wimzie, 6-2 Jr. Julia Hunt, 5-5 Sr. Aleah Arlinghaus, and 5-8 Jr. Aaliyah Hayes.

Covington Holy Cross raced out to a 22-4 first quarter lead on their way to a 71-38 victory over Leslie County. The Indians recorded 12 three point baskets and their defense recorded 13 steals, two blocked shots and scored 23 points off 18 Leslie County turnovers. Holy Cross shot 55.6% from the field including 12 of 19 from the three point line. The Indians connected on nine of 17 free throws and pulled down 30 rebounds. Leslie County shot 38.6% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. The Lady Eagles connected on two of three free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored four points off 13 Holy Cross turnovers.

Julia Hunt led Covington Holy Cross with 18 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and two assists. 5-9 Sr. Sarah Bottom added 11 points including three three point baskets. 5-6 Sr. Elizabeth McCoy recorded 10 points including three three point baskets. Aaliyah Hayes chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets and four of four free throws. 5-9 So. Aumani Nelson added five points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Aleah Arlinghaus recorded four points, eight assists, and two steals.

Owen County trailed 20-17 after three quarters but rallied to defeat Berea by the score of 30-25. The score was tied four times and there were five lead changes in the game. The Lady Rebels connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 14 Berea turnovers. Berea shot 43.5% from the field including two of four from beyond the arc. Carlisle County shot 34.8% from the field including one of three from beyond the arc. Danville shot 27.3% from the field including three of 13 from beyond the arc. The Lady Admirals connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored eight points off eight Pikeville turnovers.

Kyera Thornsbury led Pikeville with 22 points including four three point baskets, four of five free throws, and five rebounds. Whitefield Academy withstood a furious rally by Hancock County in the final quarter to earn a 34-33 victory. Hancock County had a chance to force overtime after stealing an inbound pass and being fouled attempting a shot with less than one second remaining but missed the second of two free throws and time expired. Whitefield Academy led 30-22 after three quarters but Hancock County staged a comeback as Whitefield was zero of seven from the field in the final quarter. Whitefield Academy shot 25.6% from the field including three of 17 from the three point line. The Lady Wildcats connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 14 Hancock County turnovers. Hancock County shot 34.4% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc. The Lady Hornets connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored five points off eight Whitefield Academy turnovers.

Great Crossing raced out to a 20-6 first quarter lead on their way to a 78-60 victory over Frederick Douglass. Great Crossing shot 60% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored four points off five Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 38.7% from the field including three of 22 from beyond the arc. The Broncos connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 Great Crossing turnovers.

Malachi Moreno led Great Crossing with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots. Junius Burrell added 17 points including two three point baskets, seven of eight free throws, four rebounds, and five assists. Jeremiah Godfrey recorded 12 points and two rebounds. 6-5 So. Vince Dawson III chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, and six assists. DeJohn Blunt added 10 points.

Kai Simpson led Frederick Douglass with 24 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. 5-9 So. Derion Talbert added nine points. Logan Busson recorded eight points, four rebounds, and two assists. Jack Ngog chipped in with seven points including two three point baskets. (Armelo Boone was limited to 4:13 minutes tonight-injury).
