Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. ZaKiyah Johnson, 5-8 Sr. Claire Russell, 6-3 Sr. Angelina Pelayo, 5-3 Fr. Amirah “Tootie” Jordan, and 5-10 Sr. Reagan Bender. Dixie Heights coach Joel Steczynski countered with 5-9 Jr. Bella Crawford, 5-9 Sr. Avery Moore, 5-11 Sr. Abby Thelen, 5-6 Jr. Catherine Buddenberg, and 5-7 Sr. Jalynn Brooks.
Sacred Heart Academy raced out to a 25-7 first quarter lead on their way to a 74-40 victory over Dixie Heights. Sacred Heart shot 55.8% from the field including eight of 19 from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 18 Dixie Heights turnovers. Dixie Heights shot 30% from the field including three of 19 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Sacred Heart turnovers.
ZaKiyah Johnson led Sacred Heart with 19 points including three three point baskets, 11 rebounds, six assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Reagan Bender added 18 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and five assists. Angelina Pelayo recorded 10 points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Amirah Jordan chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. 5-8 Jr. Caroline Osting added seven points.
Bella Crawford led Dixie Heights with 15 points including two three point baskets, and two rebounds. 5-7 8th Grade Peyton Gibson added nine points and three assists. Avery Moore recorded five points and four rebounds. Jalynn Brooks chipped in with four points, six rebounds, and two assists.
