There were six lead changes and two ties in this game. Newport trailed 35-25 in the third quarter but Newport rallied to take a 46-45 lead in the final minute setting the stage for Dawson’s heroics. Great Crossing shot 44.2% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored six points off eight Newport turnovers. Newport shot 40% from the field including five of 14 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 11 points off Nine Great Crossing turnovers.

Vince Dawson III led Great Crossing with 20 points including three three point baskets, and three rebounds. Malachi Moreno added 13 points including five of six free throws, 11 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Jeremiah Godfrey pulled down seven rebounds.

Richmond Heights captured their third consecutive championship with a 62-35 victory over Berlin Hiland. Richmond Heights shot 45.6% from the field including eight of 28 from the three point line. The Spartans connected on two of four free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 16 Berlin Hiland turnovers. Berlin Hiland shot 26.7% from the field including four of 19from beyond the arc. The Hawks connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Richmond Heights turnovers.

Demaris Winters Jr. led Richmond Heights with 19 points including five three point baskets, seven rebounds, and three assists. Dorian Jones added 13 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Campbell County held on down the stretch to earn a 43-40 victory over Newport. There were three ties and three lead changes in the game. Campbell County led 23-14 at halftime but Newport battled back to tie the score at 32-32 after three quarters. Campbell County connected five of six free throws down the stretch to ensure the victory. Campbell County shot 42.4% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line. The Camels connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored six points off four Newport turnovers. Newport shot 36.7% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. Harlan County outscored Campbell County 16-2 in overtime. The score was tied four times and there were five lead changes in this game. Harlan County shot 51.9% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line. The Black Bears connected on 23 of 27 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 12 Campbell County turnovers. Campbell County shot 43.1% from the field including 11 of 32 from beyond the arc. The Camels connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Harlan County turnovers.

The Shamrocks connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Evangel Christian turnovers.

Kyran Tilley led Evangel Christian with 20 points including three of four free throws, three rebounds, and four steals. Lyon County defeated Great Crossing 58-49 in a game that many believed are the best two teams in the state. There were three ties and three lead changes in tis game. Lyon County was able to prevent Great Crossing from totally dominating in the paint by limiting the “bigs” touches and once they got the lead controlled the tempo of the game. Lyon County shot 44.2% from the field including nine of 21 from the three point line. The Lyons connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 16 points off nine Great Crossing turnovers. Great Crossing shot 37% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc. The Warhawks connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored two points off five Lyon County turnovers.

Travis Perry led Lyon County with 24 points including four three point baskets, six of eight free throws, four rebounds, and four assists. The Black Bears connected on 21 of 25 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored four points off six Evangel Christian turnovers. Evangel Christian shot 29.4% from the field including five of 25 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on 12 of 15 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored five points off eight Harlan County turnovers.

This was a dream come true for Travis Perry, Brady Shoulders, and Jack Reddick who started playing basketball together 10 years ago. Lyon County shot 54.8% from the field including 10 of 19 from the three point line. The Lyons connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 12 points off seven Harlan County turnovers. Harlan County shot 50% from the field including 11 of 28 from beyond the arc. The Black Bears connected on one of two free throws, pulled down 17 rebounds, and scored 10 points off eight Lyon County turnovers.

Lyon County vs. Lexington Catholic (Championship)

Lyon County coach Ryan Perry started the following lineup: 6-6 So. Lukas Breedlove, 6-2 So. Braydon Kirk, 6-6 Sr, Brady Shoulders, 6-2 Sr. Travis Perry, and 6-3 Sr. Jack Reddick. Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Sr. Tyler Doyle, 6-3 Sr. Brody Turner, 6-4 Sr. Rowan Williams, 6-0 Sr. Sam Smith, and 6-0 Sr. John Reinhart.

The score was tied 44-44 at halftime but Lyon County pulled away in the second half for an 83-63 victory over Lexington Catholic. Lyon County shot a sizzling 73.7% from the field in the second half. The score was tied five times and there were eight lead changes in the game. Lyon County shot 68.2% from the field including nine of 16 from the three point line. The Lyons connected on 14 of 26 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 11 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 47.9% from the field including 12 of 29 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on five of 12 free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Lyon County turnovers.

Travis Perry led Lyon County with 33 points including seven three point baskets, four of five free throws, five rebounds, and five assists. Jack Reddick added 15 points including two three point baskets, five of seven free throws, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Brady Shoulders recorded 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Braydon Kirk chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Lukas Breedlove recorded eight points including four of five free throws.

John Reinhart led Lexington Catholic with 22 points including seven three point baskets, four assists, and two steals. Tyler Doyle added 20 points and two rebounds. 6-3 Jr. Ryan Harward recorded nine points on three three point baskets. Rowan Williams chipped in with four points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Bullitt East coach Chris Stallings started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Anna Rodgers, 5-9 Sr. Kylie Huber, 6-2 Fr. Lyla Packer, 5-5 So. Mollie Johnston, and 5-8 So. Anna Tinelli. North Bullitt coach Christopher Downey countered with 6-1 Jr. Mia Zinz, 5-7 So. Kylie Downey, 6-2 Jr. Addison Soutar, 5-4 Sr. Taylor McKnight, and 5-5 Sr. Emily James.

Bullitt East defeated North Bullitt by the score of 52-50. Bullitt East shot 37.5% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line. The Lady Chargers connected on 12 of 22 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 14 North Bullitt turnovers. North Bullitt shot 37.5% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc. The Lady Eagles connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored four points off five Bullitt East turnovers.

Mollie Johnston led Bullitt East with 14 points including five of eight free throws, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Anna Rodgers added 12 points including three of four free throws, and two rebounds. Anna Tinelli recorded nine points including three of four free throws, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Kylie Huber chipped in with six points and two rebounds.

Kylie Downey led North Bullitt with 15 points including two three point baskets, five of six free throws, and two rebounds. Emily James added 10 points, three rebounds, and four steals. Addison Soutar recorded six points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Butler defeated Pleasure Ridge Park by the score of 60-38. Butler shot 45.5% from the field including eight of 16 from the three point line. The Bearettes connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 16 Pleasure Ridge Park turnovers. The Lady Panthers connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored eight points off 13 Butler turnovers.

Ramiya White led Butler with 17 points including five of six free throws, and eight rebounds. Keziah Bradley added 12 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals. 5-8 Sr. Malia Patrick recorded 11 points including three three point baskets, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Mariah Knight chipped in with 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. Anieja Russell recorded six points, five rebounds, and nine assists.

Jeannae Bolin led Pleasure Ridge Park with 13 points including seven of eight free throws, five rebounds, and two steals. Marryah Carr added 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Alyssa Fox recorded seven points and four rebounds, Tanyia Weathers chipped in with four points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Butler coach Candyce Wheeler started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Mariah Knight, 5-4 Sr. Keziah Bradley, 6-5 Sr. Ramiya White, 4-10 Jr. Anieja Russell, and 5-3 Sr. Emaree Gober. Bullitt East coach Chris Stallings countered with 5-10 Sr. Anna Rodgers, 5-9 Sr. Kylie Huber, 6-2 Fr. Lyla Packer, 5-5 So. Mollie Johnston, and 5-8 So. Anna Tinelli.

Butler raced out to a 38-18 lead early in the third quarter and withstood a furious rally by Bullitt East to earn a 55-51 victory over the Lady Chargers. Butler shot 33.3% from the field including five of 18 from the three point line. The Bearettes connected on 20 of 26 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Bullitt East turnovers. Bullitt East shot 27.8% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Chargers connected on 19 of 33 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 20 Butler turnovers.

Mariah Knight led Butler with 17 points including three three point baskets, four of four free throws, 13 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Emaree Gober added nine points, two rebounds, and two assists. Ramiya White recorded eight points and seven rebounds. Keziah Bradley chipped in with eight points and two assists. 5-9 Sr. Imari Robinson recorded six points, nine rebounds, and three steals.

Anna Tinelli led Bullitt East with 21 points including eight of 10 free throws, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Anna Rodgers added 13 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Mollie Johnston recorded nine points and 10 rebounds. Lyla Packer pulled down eight rebounds and blocked two shots.
