Frederick Douglass defeated Madison Central 21-14 in an emotional, hard fought game that had a bit of controversy. The score was tied 7-7 late in the first half when Madison Central’ s Shaun Reese appeared to have scored a touchdown on a short yardage play that would have given Madison Central the lead but the officials ruled he was stopped short to the dismay and displeasure of the home crowd. The replay on television appeared to show he had scored but the referees do not have the convenience of a replay. However, regardless of the outcome both teams gave a maximum effort in a hard fought contest. Frederick Douglass recorded nine first downs and 258 yards of total offense. The Broncos were penalized four times for 33 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted. Madison Central recorded 13 first downs and 282 yards of total offense.
