Covington Catholic coach Jake Thelen started the following lineup: 5-11 So. Teegan Starva, 5-11 Sr. Nolan Ruthsatz, 6-3 Sr. Jake Stewart, 5-11 Jr. Cash Harney, and 5-11 Jr. Athens McGillis. Great Crossing coach Steve Page countered with 6-7 Fr. Brady Orem, 6-5 Sr, Vince Dawson III, 7-1 Sr. Malachi Moreno, 5-9 Sr. Junius Burrell, and 6-5 Sr. Gage Richardson.
Great Crossing defeated Covington Catholic by the score of 71-60. Great Crossing shot 61,7% from the field including two of seven from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored four points off three Covington Catholic turnovers. Covington Catholic shot 36.9% from the field including 10 of 30 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on two of two free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 12 Great Crossing turnovers.
Malachi Moreno led Great Crossing with 25 points and 19 rebounds. Vince Dawson III added 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Junius Burrell recorded 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists. 6-1 So. LJ Holman chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.
Athens McGillis led Covington Catholic with 30 points including six three point baskets, four assists, and three steals. Cash Harney added 15 points and three rebounds. 6-5 Jr. Donovan Bradshaw recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals.
