Covington Catholic coach Jake Thelen started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Jake Stewart, 6-0 So. Teegan Stava, 6-7 Jr. Donovan Bradshaw, 6-0 Jr. Athens McGillis, and 6-1 Sr. Nolan Ruthsatz. Newsome (FL) coach Barry Jacobs countered with Elliot Fields, Sr. Liam Amin, 6-3 Sr. Isaiah Sanchez, 6-0 Sr. Alex Ortiz, and 6-0 Sr. Ethan Moore.

Covington Catholic led 39-26 in the third quarter but had to survive a furious rally by Newsome to eke out a 55-53 victory and earn the championship in a thriller. Covington Catholic shot 40.8% from the field including one of 15 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 14 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 Newsome turnovers. Newsome shot 38.5% from the field including seven of 17 from beyond the arc. The Wolves connected on 16 of 20 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Covington Catholic turnovers.

Athens McGillis led Covington Catholic with 23 points including 13 of 14 free throws, three rebounds, and three assists. Donovan Bradshaw added 12 points and four rebounds. 6-2 Sr. Tate Kruer recorded five points and six rebounds. Teegan Stava also scored five points. Nolan Ruthsatz chipped in with four points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Ethan Moore led Newsome with 20 points including three three point baskets, seven of eight free throws, and five rebounds. 6-3 So. DJ Muse added 13 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds. Alex Ortiz recorded seven points and two rebounds. Elliot Fields chipped in with eight points including four of six free throws, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Ridge View (SC) coach Joshua Staley started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Malachi Cooper, 6-3 Jr. Korie Corbett, 6-7 Sr. Treyvon Smith, 6-0 Jr. Yale Davis, and 6-0 Sr. Reginald Mack. Great Crossing coach Steve Page countered with 6-5 Sr. Vince Dawson III, 6-5 Sr. Gage Richardson, 7-1 Sr. Malachi Moreno, 5-9 Sr. Junius Burrell, and 6-1 So. LJ Holman.

Ridge View did not have an answer for Great Crossing’s Malachi Moreno as he tallied 31 points, 17 rebounds, and three blocked shots in a 74-62 victory. Great Crossing led 61-37 early in the final quarter but Ridge View finished the game on a 25-13 to narrow the margin. Great Crossing shot a sizzling 65.1% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored nine points off six Ridge View turnovers. Ridge View shot 33.3% from the field including four of 28 from beyond the arc. The Blazers connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 17 Great Crossing turnovers.

Malachi Moreno led Great Crossing with 31 points on 13 of 16 from the field, five of seven free throws, 17 rebounds, and three blocked shots. Vince Dawson III added 14 points including three three point baskets, seven rebounds, and five assists. Junius Burrell recorded 14 points and four assists. LJ Holman chipped in with eight points, four rebounds, and two steals.

Korie Corbett led Ridge View with 17 points and six rebounds. Yale Davis added 13 points, three rebounds, and three steals. 6-3 So. JT Vankallen recorded eight points, three rebounds, and two steals. 6-3 So. DJ Wylie chipped in with six points and three rebounds.

Frederick Douglass coach Murray Garvin countered with 6-3 Sr. Jaunte Jenkins, 6-3 Jr. DeMarcus Surratt, 6-2 Sr. Logan Busson, Jr. Travis Jones, and 6-0 Jr. Tate Robinson.

Frederick Douglass utilized a balanced offensive output to offset a 43 point scoring outburst by Bryan Station’s Amari Owens to record a 72-64 victory and capture the WGM tourney championship. Frederick Douglass shot 44.1% from the field including seven of 19 from the three point line. The Broncos connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 12 Bryan Station turnovers. Bryan Station shot 43.9% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc. The Defenders connected on 10 of 22 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Frederick Douglass turnovers.

5-9 So. Dakari Talbert led Frederick Douglass with 15 points including two three point baskets, five of six free throws, and three assists. Tate Robinson added 15 points including three three point baskets and three rebounds. Jaunte Jenkins recorded 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals. DeMarcus Surratt chipped in with 11 points including five of seven free throws, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Amari Owens led Bryan Station with 43 points including three three point baskets, eight of 15 free throws, nine rebounds, and two steals. TaeShawn Adams added 11 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.

LaRue County coach Paul Childress started the following lineup: 6-3 Jr. Jagger Mardis, 6-1 Jr. Ayden Seidl, 6-6 Sr., 6-6 So. Landon Blakey, 5-10 Sr. Lucas Thompson, and 6-1 So. Michael Harris. DuPont Manual coach Miguel Coleman countered with 6-0 Jr. Geoffrey Njogu, 5-11 Jr. DaShawn McGee, 6-6 Sr. Justice Decker, 5-10 Sr. Noah Smith, and 5-10 Sr. Malachi Coleman.

DuPont Manual trailed 45-44 after three quarters but rallied to defeat the Hawks by the score of 64-57. The score was tied three times and there were two lead changes in the game. LaRue County fell behind 18-4 after the first quarter but battled back to make it a very competitive game. DuPont Manual shot 44.2% from the field including 10 of 24 from the three point line. The Crimsons connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 14 LaRue County turnovers. LaRue County shot 50% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc. The Hawks connected on 13 of 15 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 10 points off eight DuPont Manual turnovers.

Noah Smith led DuPont Manual with 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Malachi Coleman added 16 points including four three point baskets, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Justice Decker recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Geoffrey Njogu chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds.

Landon Blakey led LaRue County with 22 points including eight of nine free throws, nine rebounds, and four assists. Jagger Mardis added 12 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and five assists. 6-1 So. Tyler Bartley recorded 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Columbus led 33-23 at halftime but Montverde Academy rallied to make it close at the end. Jaxon Richardson came up big for the Explorers on both ends of the floor both offensively and defensively. Columbus shot 47.7% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line. The Explorers connected on 15 of 19 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 11 Montverde Academy turnovers. Montverde Academy shot 36.9% from the field including eight of 27 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on seven of eight free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 15 Columbus turnovers.

Owasso (OK) coach Brian Montonati started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Jalen Montonati, 6-4 Jr. Boden Williams, 6-11 Sr. Jax Kerr, 5-10 Sr. Kobe Freeman, and 6-4 Jr. Julius Wilson. Grayson (GA) coach Geoffrey Pierce countered with 6-8 Jr. Jayvon Rampersani, 6-6 Jr. Caleb Holt, 6-9 Sr. Jacob Wilkins, 5-10 Sr. Chris McLavish, and 6-5 Sr. KJ Garris.

Grayson (GA) defeated Owasso (OK) by the score of 61-50. Grayson shot 45.1% from the field including six of 19 from the three point line. The Rams connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine Owasso turnovers. Owasso shot 37.2% from the field including seven of 22 from beyond the arc. The Rams connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored five points off four Grayson turnovers.

Caleb Holt led Grayson (GA) with 16 points including four of six free throws, eight rebounds, and three assists. Jacob Wilkins added 26 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots. Chris McLavish recorded 11 points including three three point baskets and two assists. KJ Garris chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets. Jayvon Rampersani recorded seven points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Jalen Montonati led Owasso (OK) with 21 points including three three point baskets, four of seven free throws, and two rebounds. Jax Kerr added 10 points including six of six free throws, eight rebounds, and five blocked shots. Boden Williams recorded nine points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Kobe Freeman chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and two assists.
