'I used to love to play the guitar. It got me through some rough times in my life. Then sliding took over my life and it was like stolen moments here and here. I told Melissa that I had stopped after the thing with that stalker on Flashfire World. The truth...even since we slid to this world almost three weeks, I've been going to Cooper's (yeah...there's one open here) and trying out the guitars. I guess it's in my blood.
'Hmmm...Melissa. This world has been like paradise now that we are...'
"Randy!"
Randy Heim closed his journal and looked up to see Melissa Clark heading toward him. She smiled
as she made it to the bench Randy was on.
"So how was work?" Randy asked.
"I'm glad that I quit it," Melissa commented. "If I waitress again, it would be too soon." She frowned. "You're not taking that beret with you, are you?"
Randy touched the gray beret on his head. "You don't like it?"
"No," Melissa replied.
" Then I guess you're going to hate me for buying this."
Randy pulled out the white beret that he had bought her. Melissa's eyes widened in disbelief.
"You can't be serious," Melissa protested.
"You'll look beautiful in it," Randy said.
"No."
"It'll make me happy."
"No."
"It'll bring out your eyes."
"Okay," Melissa said.
"And what are the two lovebirds up to this fine day?"
Randy looked away from Melissa to see Professor Brown. He was making his way over to the two of them. He held up the timer to show Randy how much time was left.
"So...where's Richard?" Melissa asked.
"Yeah," Randy added as the seconds counted down.
"Don't worry, Egghead."
Richard made it as he ran down the walkway. He gave Randy a smirk.
"Sorry to disappoint you," Richard said. "I'm still in."
Randy glared at Richard. He had been going out of his way to get under his skin. He was surprised that he even had the chance to be alone with Melissa at all here.
"Here we go!" Brown announced.
He aimed the timer at some nearby trees. They started to dissolve into a circle of blue light.
Randy smiled. It may be a year, but the vortex could still bring him to a state of awe.
Melissa ran through the wormhole first. She vanished with a whir.
Next was the Professor. He ran for it and jumped into it. Another whir sounded off.
Richard jumped after Brown jumped in. Finally, Randy jumped into the vortex. It closed behind him.
Meanwhile, a few feet away another vortex opened in the sky. Four figures flew from it to hit the grass on the park ground.
"How much time, Goof?" Rembrandt Brown asked Ben Loveland.

EPISODE 13-NEXT LEVEL (S1 finale)
(first part)
"I notice you seen to be extremely reluctant to let Melissa nd Mr...Heim go off to see if this is our world or not," Brown said as they walked down Downtown San Francisco. "Why is that?"
"No reason," Richard lied.
"You cannot fool me, Mr.. Hall," Brown said.
"Why can't you use a contraction?" Richard countered.
"You do not like the idea of the two of them together," Brown said. "You seem intend on keeping
them apart, in fact. Why?"
"Here's a better idea," Richard countered again. "What about you? You know Egghead should be
focus on getting us home."
"As you already know, we do not have the coordinates stored in the timer," Brown explained. "We have no choice, but to randomly slide."
"With your brilliant mind, I'm sure you can do this without him," Richard said. "My suggestion: if this isn't home, we leave him and try to find home ourselves."
"No," Brown said firmly.
"Okay, what happens if Egghead decides to interfere in a world and one of us dies?" Richard said.
"It will not come to that," Brown said.
"But if it does--"
"It will not!"
"Get out of my store!"
Brown and Richard turned around to see a group of casual dressed guys pushed out of a store by a
middle aged man with glasses.
"But, sir!" one of the guys said. "Just because you cannot see God does not mean He doesn't exist. you have to have faith or--"
"Maybe you idiots should go back to school," the middle aged man said. "It was already proven that God cannot logically exist."
"Who do you think made all of this?" another guy with black hair said.
"The Big Bang Theory, buddy!" the middle aged man said. Now get away from my store before I have you arrested for heresy."
"But--"
"Police!"
The two men took off from the store. One bumped into Brown as he ran by. Brown was about to say something when he noticed that the guy had dropped a little black book.
"Leave it there," Richard started to say, but Brown had already started to pick it up. "You really have been around Egghead too long. Well, what is it?"
Brown looked over at Richard. "It's the Old Testament."
"Well, it's a good start," Melissa said as she walked with Randy from his dorm room.
"Yeah," Randy agreed. "The room looked like mine right down to the mess."
"Don't you think Ben would have pick up after you by now?" Melissa asked.
"I doubt it," Randy replied.
Melissa smiled. "So this could be it?"
Randy smiled back at Melissa. "Yeah."
Randy could see the happiness in Melissa's face. For the first time in a while, she looked like she had hope. He felt happy to be able to make their hope come true.
As they walked into the Student Union, Randy got a set of arms wrapped around him.
"What's that for?" Randy asked as Melissa hugged him.
"Thank you...for everything," Melissa replied. "I--"
"God does exist!" A loud voice said. "And we of the Students for Creation aren't going to let any Darwinists tell us otherwise!"
Randy pulled away from Melissa to see who was speaking. In the center of the Student Union, there was a girl with long black hair speaking through a horn. Several students cheered her on as she talked. Others gave her cold looks.
"Isn't that Nicole Harris?" Melissa asked.
"Yeah...she seems a lot more aggressive here," Randy said.
"We been told we had brains since we were born," Nicole continued. "Basically, we can think what we want then. Why be forced into one way if there are others?"
"Shut up, Harris," a figure emerged from the crowd. "No one is here to listen to the illogicalness that is creation."
Randy's eyes narrowed as he recognized the short man in the preppy long-sleeved shirt.
"Bufford," Randy muttered.
"Were you around during the beginning, Bufford?" Nicole challenged. "How can you say for sure?
Information--"
"There are documents--" Bufford cut Nicole off.
"--that can be faked in order to reassure the general public," Nicole took back over. "Heaven forbid we came from a being we can't see rather than some ugly apes!"
"You're going to regret those words," Bufford threatened.
"What are you going to do?" Nicole challenged. "Call the police? Oooh...scary. Hey, Clark! Could you enlighten this guy?"
The crowd turned around in the direction of Nicole's stare. Randy realized too late that she was talking to Melissa.
"Uh oh," Melissa muttered.
"You did great, M," Nicole said as Melissa followed her to her dorm. "Those were some points you brought up to Bufford."
"Thanks, but--" Melissa tried to explain.
"And bringing a scientist boyfriend to the rally? Genius!" Nicole continued. "Where did you find him?"
"We..." Melissa said as she looked behind her. Randy was a few steps behind. "We just met up
and got along. Now listen..."
"Rich!" Nicole hollered.
Melissa looked in the general direction of Nicole's yell. Wearing a vest similar to Nicole's was Richard's double. A groan from behind Melissa signaled that Randy had also seen Richard.
"Nic!" Richard yelled as he ran down the walkway and hugged her. "How did the rally go?"
"Great!" Nicole said. "I wish you could have been there."
"So do I," Richard agreed.
"Listen," I got to talk to M here so could you hang with the Egghead here?" Nicole asked.
"Should be fun," Richard commented.
Nicole grabbed Melissa and dragged her down the walkway.
"Come on, M!" Nicole yelled. "Let's go paint the town!"
Melissa grinned at Nicole. She turned to see the expression on Randy's face. He looked annoyed.
So was she.
"Are you not listening to me?" Brown asked Richard.
"Not really," Richard replied. "Maybe I've been around you too long, but you should leave it
alone. It's just a Bible. He carries one. Big deal."
"That scene today has intrigued me," Brown said. "I would like to know what happened to this world."
"Leave it alone," Richard advised. "We're safer that way."
"Perhaps you are right," Brown agreed.
"I learned it from you," Richard said.
Brown grinned at that comment. "Well, I feel flattered."
The door of the hotel room swung open. Brown turned to see Randy slam the door behind him. He looked through the peel hole.
"Trouble, Mr...Heim?" Brown asked.
"No," Randy replied. "Psycho Richard double. I thought I was interested in science."
"Hey! I can be smart, too," Richard said in his double's defense.
"Yea...right," Randy said.
"Where is Melissa?" Brown asked.
"Uh...we ran into a group of people who believe religion should be allowed and she got mistaken
for her double," Randy explained.
"I guess we're going to have to find her," Richard said.
"How much time?" Randy asked Brown as they headed out the door.
"An hour," Brown replied. "I can only hope we can find her in time."
"We will," Randy said as they made it to the elevator.
"He cares about her after all," Richard muttered.
As the elevator shut its door, the elevator next to it opened. The man emerged from it and headed for the sliders' room. If there was anyone who understood Randall Heim's technology, it was a double of Randall's. He hoped this was the one who helped with the Chad Owens experiment...failure months ago.
Dr. Donald Smith knocked on the door and waited for a reply.
"I think the posters are a great idea," Melissa agreed as she walked with Nicole toward the student store. She had just finished planning the next rally almost an hour ago.
"Yeah, it might give those Darwinists something to think about," Nicole agreed.
"I can't believe how cold some people can be," Melissa muttered.
"You got to understand," Nicole said. "If they can't explain it, then it doesn't exist." She frowned. "What's with you? Is that Egghead filling your head with Evolution theories?"
"No!" Melissa said quickly.
"Good."
"All I'm saying is--"
"Oh my God!"
Melissa turned to see who said it. There in front of them was her double. Like Nicole, Melissa's double had on a vest. She had her hair in braids.
"Melissa?" Nicole said in disbelief. "But if you're M, who are you?"
Nicole turned to look at Melissa. Melissa had already started to make a break for it. She turned the cover of a building and ran into a figure.
"Melissa?"
Melissa saw the beret and grinned. "Randy!" She hugged him. "We got to go. Nicole knows
something's up."
"It is a good thing that you ran into us then," Brown said as she pulled out the timer. "It is time to go."
The tree in front of them started to form into a circle of blue light as Brown turned on the timer.
Richard jumped into the vortex first. It whirred as he vanished into it.
"Wow!"
Melissa turned ot see that Nicole had rounded the corner. Now her jaw was wide open at the sight of the vortex in front of her.
"Go, Professor!" Randy yelled at Brown.
Brown ran into the vortex. He vanished into it. The whir sound off again.
Melissa was about to follow when overhead a vortex opened. Quickly, a whir sounded off as an object fell from it. Melissa realized that it was a person.
"Look out!" Randy yelled.
He pushed Nicole away from where she stood. Melissa realized that it was just in the nick of time since the figure crashed right where Nicole had stood.
A wave of pink shot through from the figure. It passed over Melissa. For a second, she felt the briefest of thoughts.
"Chad?" Melissa mumbled under her breath.
She turned toward the vortex. The wave hit the vortex. It started to become misshapen. It
pulled one way. Then it went the other way. Then it went the other way. Finally, it exploded.
"No!" Melissa screamed.
