The Day of Judgment
Introduction: A. When we stand before God, the judge of all, what will our sentence be?
B. When life’s journey has ended will we regret our poor decisions that caused us to be lost? Or will we rejoice to know that our journey in this life was meaningful?
C. When the clock of life no longer ticks because death has come, what will our destiny be?
What kind of day will judgment be?
1. It will be a day of reckoning.
(A) We shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. (Rom. 14:10-12) The subject matter is eating meat. The weak and strong will stand before judgment seat of Christ. All will be judged by Christ, their divine Master in that great and final day. (John 5:22) says that judgment is turned over to Christ. (2 Cor. 5:10) Everyone is going to give account of the things they have done in this life.
Every knee shall bow: This is a promise Verse 11. In verse 12 what we give account for is for our practices.
(B) When God opens his “Book of Remembrance” what will the contents be? (Rev. 10:12,13)
(C) Will the judgment day be a day of reward or punishment when we stand before our Maker? (Matt. 25:34,41)
2. It will be a day of rest.
A. There is rest for the people of God when they labor. Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
(B). The Christian who labors will truly find a place of rest. Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
1. It is a place that knows no sickness, sadness, or separation.
2. It is a land of fadeless day and a city with everlasting foundations.
(C). How beautiful are the words of the apostle John in Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
3. It will be a day of reunion.
A. Christ will take us to be with Him. (John 14:1-3)
B. Loved ones who are faithful unto death will be together throughout eternity.
C. What joy it will be to see the redeemed of all ages.
D. There has never and will never be a family reunion like that one will be!
Conclusion:
What kind of day will the judgment be for you? It depends on YOU! Obey Jesus and be saved, reject his word and be lost.
