Anne opened her eyes. "One more thing. I'll be back in two seconds." He returned minutes later with a bottle of champagne, two flutes and a small basket of strawberries, all of which he placed on the window seat.
"What did I do to deserve this?" Annie asked softly.
"You didn't have to do anything."
"Well, you are going to spoil me."
"I have a right to spoil you, Princess A."
"Oh, and what gives you that right, Mr. Dorough?" she teased poking him in the chest.
"My love for you," was Howie's very serious answer. Annie met his gaze and her breath caught in her throat when she read the emotions in his eyes.
Howie knelt beside her on the bed as the music segued into Sky's "You and I". He laced his fingers through her red curls and brought her mouth to his.
They continued to kiss reveling in the feelings once again, trying to reinvent the memory of their first night together.
Howie and Annie's activities had become even more focused utilizing the information they remembered from their last encounter. They revled in the emotions of the moment. He couldn't remember ever feeling so strongly connected to anyone else. He knew the song reflected everything he felt in his heart.
Howie softly sang the last two lines of the second verse before he resumed kissing down her chest as James and Tony entered the chorus.
After they made love, Howie cradled Annie in his arms, her head resting on his chest. He kissed her forehead. "I adore you so much. Are you happy?"
She sighed. "Never happier."
Howie went to the window seat. He poured each of them a glass of champagne and brought the strawberries to the bed. He took the first berry and, after dunking it in his glass, fed it to Anne. They took turns feeding one another the fruit. Later, after swallowing the last of their champagne, they curled up together and drifted to sleep.
