Kentucky Community Crisis Response Team
There are times, no matter who you are, what you do, or how long you have been working in fire, rescue, EMS or Law Enforcement, that you will become tired.
- The way you feel, for the mother that just watched her 17 year old son's body be exrticated from the wreckage of a friend's car.
- The way you feel, when you take the dead 6 month old from it's Grandmother's arms...
- The way you feel, when you have to work then scene where your friend and co-worker, just gave his/her life, to save another...
- The way you feel, when you go to a call and hear the mornful crys of the family members as you look for the burned remains of the two children, that just couldn't make it out of the burning house...
- When you face the man, that just stomped a baby to death, and put him in the back of your cruser to take him to jail...
The way you feel will effect you, sooner or later.
If you become "tired", please don't think you are weak.
You are human! You are normal...
You are suposta feel. You would not be doing this work if you didn't.
We can't face the victims everyday and not feel it.
Why?
Thats the question... WHY!!!!
The answer...
Who the hell knows....
Tabby's Theory
I feel that I will learn something everyday of my life.
There is a reason for everything, good and bad.
There is a reason why I am doing this work, there is a reason why I must see and hear the things I have.
I know now, it is to learn.
I learn something from every person I have ever met, touched, or has touched me, physical or emotional.
I may not always like or understand the lesson, but I must accept it and go on.
I remember the words from a plaque I saw once, it said
"God, don't let anything happen to me today that you and I can't handle."
And you know, it is true.
Nothing will happend to you that you cannot handle. You will not be put in a situation that you are not able to see, hear, think, perform.
There is a reason for it. Maybe it's just another lesson is the long learning we need for our own lives.
Maybe we are suposed to be there while another person learns from us.
There is no answer anyone can tell you. The answer is inside you.
"Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done..."
Not my will, I can't control it.
We can only accept the lessons, and wait for the next call.
And when we become "tired" of the learning.
Then we need to recognize it, and reach for help before we can't learn anymore...
and die...
