Chapter 2

"Steph, come on get up. It’s already nine o’clock, and I still have to wake Theresa up." Alex yelled stepping into my room.

"What? Oh, go away Aj. I’m too tired." I groaned, covering my head with the pillows. He laughed and jumped up on my bed.

"I don’t think so Cuz, the guys said they’d be here around ten or ten-thirty, and I know you have to get all fixed up before you see them so get your lazy ass up." Aj shook my shoulders.

"Fine, I’m up! Go wake Theresa up, you should have fun doing that." I muttered through the pillow. I felt him jump off my bed, and walk out of the room. I hopped up out of the large soft bed and decided to take a quick shower.

Aj walked into Theresa room, quietly tip-toeing up to her bed. She was mumbling something softly, twisting the blankets fiercely. Aj sat down next to her and gently bent down to shake her.

Within the next instant, before Aj knew what happened, Theresa wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled his lips to hers. He was surprised but didn’t pull away, he just deepened the kiss. When they finally broke apart, Theresa opened her eyes slowly to see Aj with a very surprised look on his face.

"Good morning to you, too." He muttered, standing back up.

"Oh God, I’m sorry Aj." Theresa stuttered, blushing beat red.

"It’s okay, I wish I could get wake up calls like that every morning. But I came in here to tell you that the guys will be here about ten-thirty." He blushed a little, too and walked out of the room, still stunned from that kiss.

Theresa jumped up out of bed and ran into the bathroom to turn on her curling iron. She hurried back to her room to pick out what to wear.

I quickly dried my hair and tried to figure out what to wear. "This is hopeless, Theresa will help." I picked up both outfits I had decided on and walked into Theresa’s room. "Girl, you gotta help me! I don’t know what to wear."

Theresa looked up from her bed and giggled,

"Someone a little nervous to meet a certain BSB member? I need your help too."

She held up the two outfits she had picked out, a three-quarters length rainbow shirt and black capri pants or a pale blue baby-tee with ‘BAD GIRL’ in flaming letters printed on it and khaki shorts.

I shrugged then pointed to the baby-tee and short.

"Go with the tee-shirt and shorts. It will look better for your first time meeting them, and it’s nice and casual. Now which one for me?" I said, holding up a pair of faded blue jeans and a dark blue tank top with a small tiger decal on the top, or black capri pants and a spaghetti strap green top with small sparkles scattered all over the front. Theresa thought for a minute, staring at the two choices and pointed to the blue jeans and tank top.

"I think you should go with the blue jeans and tank top, ‘cause it’s nice but not too nice, ya know." She said, walking back into the bathroom to get changed.

Once we were dressed, like always she did my hair in a messy bun and did my make-up to perfection. I helped her French-braid two sides back and left the rest of her light golden hair free down her back. Once we were both ready, we walked down the front stairs side by side slowly, hearing not only Aj’s voice in the living room. Stepping down into the room, five heads turned to greet us.

"Finally, gosh girls what took you so long?" Aj teased, hopping up off the couch. The other four guys stood up, too. "Guys, you probably don’t remember this beautiful young lady, but it’s my younger cousin Stephanie, and her gorgeous friend Theresa. You met Steph about six years ago."

The room was silent as the guys slowly began to remember. Suddenly they all came rushing up to me, Nick being the first since they had become friends the first day they had met. I hugged each of the guys and grinned.

"This can’t be ‘Little Steph,’ she’s too tall." Nick teased.

"What are you talking about, Carter? We used to be the same height and now you’re the ‘Jolly Green Giant.’" I joked back, standing on my tiptoes to get up in his face.

"I missed ya, Piglet." Nick grinned, picking me up and twirling me around once, then setting me back down.

"I missed you, too, Tigger." I smiled at our nicknames for each other. Kevin walked up to me next, almost as if he didn’t believe it was me. "What are ya staring at, Kev?"

"You can’t be the same little thirteen year old girl I used to carry around on my shoulders." He laughed, pulling me into a tight hug.

"Yeah, I’m the same little girl, although, I don’t think you could hold me up on your shoulders anymore. My butt’s gotten too big." I chuckled, but to my surprise, Kevin pushed me around and stared at my behind.

"Nah, it ain’t that big." He gave it a light smack and I felt myself blushing. Theresa’s eyes met mine and I knew she was trying desperately to contain her laughter. Kevin let go of my hand and walked back over to Aj to talk.

I quickly walked over to Theresa, warning her with my eyes not to laugh. But instead we both burst out into a fit of immature giggles. This grabbed the attention of the guys and they all stared at us as if we were insane. Once our giggles calmed down, we all sat down in various spots around the living room. Aj sat in his zebra striped chair, Kevin, Brian, and Howie sat on the large couch, leaving Nick and me sharing a chair with Theresa sitting in front of us.

"So what do we want to do tonight, people?" Aj asked, stretching his arms above his head, oblivious to Theresa staring at his well-defined chest through his skintight wife-beater. I nudged her with my foot, so no one else would notice her gawking at him.

"Hmm, well why don’t we go out to a club, that could be cool. I mean we can show the girls around." Howie suggested, already knowing everyone would agree.

"That’s cool with me. What about it ladies? Does that sound cool with you?" Aj asked, looking right into Theresa’s bluish-green eyes. She barely nodded in response, staring back into his liquid brown eyes. I nudged her with my foot again. That girl just doesn’t know how stop drooling over my cousin.

"I think it sounds like fun. But we still have all afternoon. Is there anything to do during the day?" I asked, trying to get comfortable in the chair Nick and I were sharing, since it was only built for one person, it was very cramped.

"Hmm, I think there is a carnival open in town. That would be cool. I mean, it would show you what we got around here, and we can hang out or split up and just chill for the day." Nick said, getting annoyed with my constant moving and picked me up, sitting me on his lap. "There, better now?"

"Yep, all better. That sounds great. I love carnivals. What about it Theresa? You cool with the carnival idea?" I asked, getting comfy on Nick’s lap. Theresa just nodded, trying not to make it obvious she had been staring at Aj and missed my question.

"Huh, what? Oh, the carnival is fine with me." She finally muttered, standing up to stretch her legs. She strained to pop her back, reaching over her head to show off her tanned, well-toned stomach under her baby-tee, making sure Alex noticed.

Theresa and Nick sat in the back of Alex’s silver Expedition, cracking blond jokes on each other. I sat in the front with Aj, both of us singing along with ‘Heartbreaker’ by Mariah Carey. Brian, Leighanne, Howie, Hailey (Howie’s girlfriend) and Kevin followed in Brian’s Beemer.

"Okay people, get out. We’re there." Aj announced, bouncing out of the truck as Brian pulled right up next to him. All the guys put on their hats or sunglasses, so as not to be recognized by any fans. Everyone headed towards the main gates and into the park. Brian and Leighanne, as well as Howie and Hailey held hands, while the rest of us linked arms. Theresa held arms with Aj and Nick, while I was on the other side of Nick, my arms linked with his and Kevin’s. Suddenly Kevin dropped his arm from mine and picked me up, throwing me over his shoulder.

"Ahh, Kev put me down!" I screamed, as he spun around, making me dizzy. "Nicky help me!" Nick just laughed and shook his head no. I looked over to Theresa and Aj, who were getting a good chuckle. Theresa gave me a small thumbs-up and turned back to talk to Aj.

Kevin laughed deeply, as I ruffled his dark hair, while he was setting me down.

"So, what do you want to do first, Kid?" he asked, as we linked arms again.

"Well, Old Man, why don’t we split up. The couples can go do their thing, you, Nick and me can walk around and chill, and that leaves Theresa and Alex to get to know each other better." I grinned, as Theresa gave me a thankful look, everyone else nodded in agreement.

"But, hey Steph, why do you get the two cutest guys?" Theresa asked, playfully, grabbing Aj’s offered hand.

"Just lucky I guess." I joked, flashing her a big smile, as we all walked our separate ways.

"Well, Theresa where would you like to go first?" Alex wondered, as they passed the giant Ferris wheel.

"Well, my stomach can’t really handle too many rides and I’m scared to death of heights, so anything that doesn’t move too fast or go up high I’m cool with it." She joked, lightly, surprised he still had her hand in his.

"Hmm, then why don’t we walk around and talk for awhile. Knowing my cousin, she’s trying to play match-maker once again, so we’ll make her happy and get to know each other." Alex suggested, swinging their hands lightly, back and forth.

"So you dating anyone? I mean if Steph’s trying to play match-maker the least we can do is make her happy, right?" She smiled, quoting him from before.

"Well, blunt, aren’t we? Yes, I’m kinda dating someone but it’s not 100%, ya know what I mean." He said, watching her nod in acknowledgement, then continued. "But what about you? You must have at least fifty guys after you."

Theresa blushed at his compliment even though she was still upset about his relationship.

"I don’t really know how many guys honestly like me for me. Most of them are only after one thing-"

"-the Nookie." They said in unison, then burst out laughing.

I was sitting a nearby bench while Twiddle Dee(Kev) and Twiddle Dumb(of course, Nick) decided what to do first, then suddenly a female voice called out,

"Oh my G-d, it’s the Backstreet Boys!"

Within seconds every teen girl within earshot came running towards us.

"Oh God! RUN!" Kevin shouted as we all took off away from the crowd. "Quick in here!" he said, shoving me into a small doorway. Nick followed and Kevin made sure no one saw where we went. I looked around and quickly realized where we had ran in to. The haunted house. Now just to let you know, I hate haunted houses beyond belief. I almost turn and ran back out but Kevin’s arms caught me.

"What’s wrong, Steph?" he asked, looking down at me.

"Oh, nothing. I just really don’t want to be in here. And I’d rather take my chances with the girls than go through this!" I answered, trying once again to get out until I heard Nick.

"What are you scared of a little haunted house? I bet I can make it out of here without having to hold your hand!" he bet me, knowing me all to well it seemed. I hated when people bet against me, especially a guy trying to out do me.

"Oh yeah, we’ll just see about that Carter." With that I took off down the hallway to the attractions, having no idea what I was in for.
