Chapter 28: The Break-up

“Where first?” A.J asked as him and Theresa walked into the mall.

“Um…I guess the Gap.” Theresa laughed at how A.J had to disguise himself.

“Ok. What are you laughing at?” A.J wondered as they walked through the medium filled mall.

“You.” Theresa laughed a little bit more.

“Ha, ha. Funny.” A.J mocked. When they arrived at the store Theresa and A.J were scanning through the many stylish cloths when Theresa realized that she had to use the restroom.

“Um…A.J?”

“Yeah.” A.J said picking up a gray T-shirt.

“I’m going to the bathroom real quick.” Theresa smiled as she handed A.J her bra and underwear she was going to buy.

“Ok.” A.J blushed noticing that Theresa had handed him her underwear, then watched Theresa walk out of the store and noticed Amanda and a couple of her friends walk by behind Theresa. When she made it to the bathroom she was standing in the bathroom stall, when she heard a group of laughing girls enter. Ease dropping on their little conversation she heard that one of the voices sounded familiar, when they started talking about A.J.

“Oh man, Ashley. I had such a good week.” Amanda laughed knowing that Theresa had came in there.

“Really, like what did you do?” Ashley asked adding more light red lipstick to her lips.

“Don’t tell anyone this, but me and A.J slept together.” Amanda whispered, but said it loud enough so Theresa could hear.

“Really! Doesn’t he have a girlfriend?” Ashley said shocked.

“Yeah, he told me that she never pleases him like I do.” Amanda smiled to herself.

“Well, I hope you and A.J get back together.” Ashley suggested as her and Amanda walked out. Theresa stood in the stall going over what she had just heard.

“That bastard.” Theresa mumbled as a tear exapted her eye. Slowly walking out of the stall she headed towards the mirror and just stared at herself watching the tears pour. Whipping them away and drying up her face she headed out the door and towards the store.

“Hey baby. What took so long?” A.J smiled as he watched Theresa walk into the store.

“Oh ran into a friend.” Theresa smirked. After they paid for the clothes they headed back out to his truck then headed on home. In the truck A.J noticed that Theresa was awfully quiet and wondered what was wrong.

“So how was Kentucky?” A.J wondered breaking the silences.

“Fine, how was your time without me?” Theresa replied coldly.

“What?”

“I said how was your time without me, what did you do the whole time?” Theresa said raising her voice a little feeling her eyes start to tear up.

“Baby, I missed you the whole time, why?” A.J answered, noticing Theresa’s discomfort. “What’s wrong, why are you crying?”

“Oh no reason.” Theresa cried whipping a tear away. “You know A.J you don’t have to lie.”

“What are you talking…”

“A.J just say it…you slept with Amanda!!!” Theresa blurted out looking at him and noticed that his mouth dropped to the floor.

“I never slept with her, who said I slept with her?” A.J demanded pulling into Theresa’s driveway.

“A.J, just tell me if you did or didn’t!” Theresa yelled as A.J stopped in the driveway.

“I didn’t ok, now who told you?”

“Amanda, A.J! God, how wouldn’t you know that.” Theresa smirked opening the door and jumping out of the truck. “Pop the trunk.”

“Ok. But she’s lying to you.” A.J said knowing that the truth was he never slept with her that it was all a huge lie.

“Save it.” Theresa cried as she pulled her bags out of the trunk.

“No. I want you to know that it’s the truth.” A.J said climbing out of the truck and walked towards her on the sidewalk.

“A.J, I know the truth. I’m sorry, we need a break.” Theresa whispered as she began to cry again. “I jumped into a relationship with you to soon, I mean right after I broke up with Justin I had meaningless sex with you and then I started dating you. I need a break from love, away from you to get my mind straight.”

“Baby, come on cant you believe me.” A.J asked whipping the tears away off of her cheek with his fingers. Theresa just shook her head noticing that A.J was starting to tear up.

“A.J, were not in love, we’ve only dated for a week or two. I think this is the best for the both of us before we get in to deep.” Theresa cried as she placed her hand on his cheek, then headed into the house shutting the door behind her. She stood there for away listening for A.J’s truck to leave and so it did. Dropping her bags she headed up the stairs and to her room, where she fell upon her bed and cried herself to sleep.
