"Tonight is my night to get the food, correct?" A young man with dark sandy blond hair asked his four friends. They were all seated around the futuristic living room of the rebel of them. Aj, the tall man with dark brown hair spiked all around and at least a dozen different tattoos’ up and down both arms. The four other men nodded in agreement.
"Yes Brian. Thursday is your night. Monday is Howie’s, Tuesday is Aj’s, Wednesday is mine, and Kev’s is Friday. Make it something better than last time, would ya? The last one was far to bitter for my taste, try harder this time." Nick, a six foot giant blond with piercing baby blue eyes said, continuing his ‘Mortal Combat’ video game. Brian nodded and looked at his cousin, the tall black headed, green eyed man, who seated on the couch, reading his favorite book, ‘Interview with a Vampire.’
"I just hate to do this, though." He muttered, softly, walking towards the front door. Everyone heard him, but only Kevin got up and followed him.
"Listen, none of us enjoy doing this, but we have to, to survive. It’s part life and death. If you want, I’ll go with you and help you out." He said, in his slow, southern-drawl voice, grabbing his long black trench coat and slipping it on over his tight black shirt and loose fitting blue jeans. Brian nodded appreciatively, but still wished he could refuse.
The hunt. Finding a drunk stumbling home or a homeless man laying asleep in the alley between the old abandon antique shop and the new Super Wal-Mart. People most others don’t acknowledge. If Brian could he’d simply live off small animals, so as to not have to see his victims stunned eyes before he sank his wolf-like fangs in, hearing the soft cries from pain and the pleas for him to stop, to see their eyes after he had finished. He hated see the dead eyes. Cold glass-like eyes, like doll eyes that hold no emotion as they stared up at him. The other four guys found it a sport; seducing young women, taking them back to the house, finally killing them after they had sex. The girl would be sleeping peacefully, then wake to the feeling of razor sharp fangs tearing at the delicate flesh of their neck or wrists.
The two men walked down the dim streets, watching for any sign of an active event. The low pulse of a bass from a large speaker pointed out the ideal place; a party, a perfect place to find prey.
Brian and the others were vampires, that’s obvious, but unlike the other four, Brian was different. He still had human compassion. The others found him as a weak link, a misfit, more human than them, not as into the kill. Tonight was the ultimate test for him though, to trust his human heart, or his lust and need for fresh blood.

Stephanie stared at the clock for the fifth time that minute. She gazed around the crowded room for her friends, who had somehow convinced her to go then ditched her. In a sea of faces she didn’t see a familiar one, until she saw his. An absolutely handsome young man had just walked in. His hair was dark, sandy blond and he looked maybe about two inches taller than her. Even from the distance, she could see his deep ocean-blue eyes, brought out by the soft blue of his sweater. The guy next to him wasn’t too bad either, very tall compared to the other. He had tousled black hair, and beautiful emerald eyes set on a dark tanned, serious face. The only thing that worried her about the tall one was the long black trench coat he wore over his jeans and tight black tee-shirt.
Brian had thoughts of turning around and leaving before the uncontrollable desire to kill became to strong for him to handle. That was until he saw her, staring at him. He stopped mid-step and stared back at her. She was about his height, long ebony hair almost to her waist, deep chocolate eyes. Her entire figure showed perfectly through the shimmering lavender spaghetti strap dress she wore. He could smell her delicate perfume from across the room. The light fragrance was mixed with the salt of her skin, making it all the more alluring. He left Kevin’s side and, as if something was pulling him, he walked towards her. Her chestnut eyes locked on his and both held the stare until he was right in front of her. She stood up from the couch, and he pulled her out onto the dance floor. Neither of them said a single word as ‘I Wanna Love You Forever’ by Jessica Simpson played through the room. Both just danced slowly, moving closer together with every second.
"What’s your name?" Brian whispered softly in her ear. A fine tremor shook her body at his smooth southern voice.
"Stephanie, what’s yours?" she whispered back, pulling her head off his shoulder to look into his beautiful sapphire eyes. ‘Stephanie, stop, you can’t be feeling this way. There’s no such thing as love at first sight!’ she yelled in her mind.
"Brian." He smiled, brushing a strand of hair out of her deep eyes. ‘What are you doin’ B, there’s no way you can do this!’ he argued to himself, thinking maybe there was a such thing like ‘love at first sight.’ Right now his heart didn’t care what his mind was saying, it was going to win either way.

Kevin watched his little cousin intensely, oblivious to what the woman next to him was whispering to him. ‘Maybe he’s finally getting it.’ Kevin, himself was entertaining a young blond, who was whispering all sorts of sexual comments in his ear. She had been over drinking, and was almost plastered to perfection. He figured it wouldn’t take long for her to pass out then, Brian and he could get her home and B would be saved the embarrassment once again. But with the sight on the dance floor Brian wouldn’t need any help and maybe he could have blond to himself. His eyes narrowed suddenly as his cousin’s lips touched with the woman’s in a way that was filled more with innocent love, instead of seduction. ‘He can’t be doing that! He won’t ruin this one!’ he thought, standing up off the stool.
"Excuse me for just a moment, Darlin’." He smiled at the blond, running his hand over her cheek, down her neck and lightly grazed the skin of her breast where the material began. She nodded, giggling drunkenly, and downed another drink. Kevin walked towards Brian slowly, like a panther stalking it’s prey, his eyes like emerald flames.
Brian felt electricity shoot through him, no other woman he had ever kissed had this effect on him. He wrapped his strong arms around her and for once in his entire vampire life, just wanted her, not for anything other than loving. Suddenly an ‘oh so familiar’ voice pulled him for the soft lips he had been connected to.
"Brian." Kevin muttered, ignoring the brunette, his eyes fixed on his baby cousin. "Don’t do this, I have someone already and it would be rude to keep her waiting. Unless you wanna bring her to meet the guys then I suggest we leave."
Brian gave a disbelieving stare to Kevin. "Alright." He muttered. Stephanie stared at Brian for any recognition that she meant anything. She could have even handled just a little good-bye. No other guy had had this effect on her, and now she was letting him leave. When he turned around and began to trudge away she hurried behind him and grabbed his arm so Kevin wouldn’t notice.
"Wait, when will I see you again?" she whimpered, searching his beautiful, yet clouded eyes for his thoughts.
"I don’t know, but I promise I’ll find you again. But don’t look for me!" he whispered in her ear, his warm breath grazing her neck. He looked her one last time in the eye and pressed his lips against hers. Both knew there was some sort of spark between them, and neither could deny, nor fight it. He pulled away breathless and looked to see where Kevin was. Brian pulled her face to his again, giving her one last quick, yet sensual kiss and pulled away, running to catch up with Kevin, who was leading the voluptuous blond woman out of the party.
