"So, she’s Kevin’s daughter? And yet she just tried to kill him? Boy I can see the love in that family." Howie muttered sarcastically, noting Kevin’s undivided attention for Lisa.
"Where have you been all my life? Did you just leave when they said mom died, and didn’t even check on me!" Lisa suddenly burst out, raising her voice towards her ‘father.’
"They told me you and Alicia died in delivery and no I didn’t just walk out. I fought my way back to where your mother was and they had taken you away. The doctors just told me you died and being in the utterly depressed state I was in I believed them and hunted each of them down that month for letting my love and my child die." Kevin explained, touching her hand softly.
"Stephanie, this is really screwed up…" Theresa whispered, quietly into Stephanie’s ear.
"I’ve never seen Kevin this… emotionally vulnerable." She whispered back.
"Do you realize what I had to go through my entire life? Living with relatives who didn’t give a shit about me or what I wanted. All I knew was my mother died very painfully when giving birth to me and my father, someone who none of my mother’s family members had met, abandoned me at the hospital. Do you know what it was like to grow up different than everyone. I was stronger and faster than everyone else and had very few friends until I met Theresa and Stephanie." Lisa rambled on, keeping her gaze from her estranged father. "Well, Daddy, what have you been up to all these many years?"
Kevin noticed her tone and felt her tension. "Well, mainly traveling the world then returning here. Nothing seemed worth it when I lost Alicia. I wish I could have found you sooner, maybe you would have helped me."
"I wish you had been there from the beginning…" Lisa all but shouted, standing from the couch, completely forgetting the audience that had gathered in the living room.
"Hey, why don’t we continue this discussion later when you’ve both had a bit of time to cool down, Lisa. Kevin, why don’t you and some of the guys go out…" Stephanie suggested, met by Kevin’s dark gaze.
"You want me to go out and pretend everything is normal when I have just met my daughter. I agree we both need to calm down but I’m not leaving. The other guys can leave but, Alicia…Lisa and I need to talk and I will not leave until all her questions and my questions are answered."
"Okay, then why don’t we let Lisa stay around and we’ll get something to eat and she can stay through the day and keep me company…" Stephanie tried again, this time cut off by Lisa.
"I’m not staying here. I need to work out tonight, get out some of this excess aggression." Lisa stated, throwing a calmer look towards Kevin.
"You can work out here. There’s a little gym sort of room in the basement." Everyone gazed up at Nick. "What, I almost killed her, I thought I’d be polite…"
"Oh, that would be a first." Aj and Brian snickered. Everyone threw them looks and they stopped.

Nick walked down the staircase into the cold chill of the damp basement and headed towards the work-out room. He stood at the door, listening to Lisa’s loud profanity as she beat the large punching-bag. He snickered and peeked into the mirrored room, noticing her back towards him in corner of the room. He sneaked in silently and stopped right behind her.
Lisa sensed a vampire presence behind her, and got ready to beat the living shit out of someone. When a hand barely touched her shoulder, she grabbed it and flipped him over onto the thinly carpeted floor.
"Ouch, you really must have something against me. Ever since we’ve met you’ve tried to kick my ass." Nick chuckled, watching her stern, flushed face soften slightly. She offered a hand and he gladly accepted. She forcefully jerked him to his feet and released his hand immediately. Lisa returned to her previous activities, now kicking at the large sand bag.
"So, Lisa, your a hunter. What’s that like? Must be rather exciting." Nick asked over the loud beats of Lisa’s athletic legs against the black bag. She took a small breather to answer at him.
"A thrill a minute. Killing other beings who used to be friends or family members. All the fun in the world." She muttered sarcastically, thrashing one leg out and around at the punching-bag and splitting it open.
"Okay, cool down… Just trying to take your mind off, whatever’s bothering you." Nick sighed, looking down at the mess of sand on the floor.
"I was doing fine without him around. My life was finally getting better. I had a good job, friends. People who didn’t avoid me because of what they had heard. And I was so close to finding ‘HIM’ that I could have taken him down within the next month." Lisa frowned, accepting the towel Nick handed to her and patted her sweaty forehead with it.
"Who is ‘HIM’?"
"A very powerful vampire. Supposedly he made a profit of his victims, using their talents for his advantage then offering eternity. His name’s Pearlman." Lisa said, noticing Nick’s face contort in thought. "What did I say?"
"Pearlman! You’re gonna try to kill Pearlman? Do you have any idea how powerful he is? He could kill you in an instant." He explained, staring into Lisa’s unique brown eyes. They were hinted with flecks of gold, holding a secret power yet to be uncovered.
"I don’t care. At least I died trying to help. At least I was doing my duty and protecting unsuspecting people who have yet to be cursed." Lisa muttered furiously. Nick watched her fists ball in frustration and felt a sudden rush of desire. Lisa was unlike anyone he had ever know.
Nick suddenly cupped Lisa’s face in his hands and caressed her lips softly with his own. The kiss was reciprocated generously, causing him to try to go further, his hands settling at her waist and hips. Lisa’s arms were slowly moving towards his body as well. One arm wrapped around Nick’s neck smoothly.
Nick smiled, feeling the kiss intensify. Suddenly a sharp point was pressed against his groin area. He drew back from Lisa and looked down.
"Don’t mess with me, Vampire. You’re better off not even trying." Lisa stated, pressing the dagger from earlier closer to his manhood. When Nick tried to get the dagger away from her, Lisa easily knocked him to the floor, but he managed to take her down with him.
"What the hell do you think you are doing with my daughter, Carter?" A deep voice rambled and echoed throughout the room. Nick and Lisa looked up from their position on the floor. Kevin stepped into the room and straight over to them.
"Nothing Kev." Nick stumbled, climbing away from Lisa and getting to his feet.
"Sure as hell doesn’t look like nothing." Kevin growled, ready to rip Nick’s heart out for messing with his little girl. He noticed Lisa get to her feet.
"He wasn’t doing anything. It was my fault. We accidentally fell over when the punching bag broke." Lisa fibbed expertly. Kevin nodded and gave her a look, telling her to leave the room.
Lisa was eager to get away from both of them. For her this was a little too fuck up. And how did Nick know anything about Pearlman? Maybe he was a victim.

"Nick, if you touch my daughter again, so help me, I will cut your heart out with a spoon! Understand!" Kevin snarled viciously, staring at Nick harshly. The blond nodded and tried to get out of the room before Kevin decided to just kill him instead. But Kevin’s massive fist clamped around his neck before he could escape.
"I want an answer better than that. Swear that you will never even look at my daughter again." Nick couldn’t even breath to answer. "Say it dammit!"
Nick managed a breathless, "I swear." And was dropped onto the floor.
"Just remember, you hurt her, I hurt you 10 times worse." With that Kevin left the room and Nick struggled not to lunge at his lean back.

"Hey Steph, are you okay… You look a little out of it." Theresa asked, watching Lisa, then Kevin, and finally a pained Nick walk out of the basement.
"Yeah, just thinking I guess. It’s just kinda weird ya know. I mean Kevin is Lisa’s father, I’m gonna have a baby, and from the yelling downstairs a few minutes ago, Nick got chewed out for messing with Lisa." Stephanie sighed as Lisa walked into the kitchen to join them.
"Well, I always thought it would be cool to have a dad until now." Lisa grumbled, resting her sweaty forehead on the table.
"What do you mean?" Theresa asked, drinking a glass of thick red liquid, which could only have been blood.
"He acts more like a body guard than anything else. I can take care of myself, and maybe I don’t mind Nick looking at me or touching me, kissing me." She answered, her lips still tingling from the feel of Nick’s soft mouth on hers.
"Well, he’s a very protective person. Amazingly enough, he loves you so much, he doesn’t want anything, or anyone else to take you away from him again." Stephanie explained, wondering what had happened between Lisa and Nick to make Lisa like this.
"I suppose, but he’s not gonna lose me. I will still be here but I want someone to kiss me like Nick kissed me. I would have thought he would trust Nick…"
"He won’t trust anyone when it comes to you." Stephanie said, resting her chin in her open palm. "Look girl, why don’t you go get a shower and I’ll make something to eat for you and me, since the rest of the guys and Theresa, don’t require this kind of meal."
"Okay, just show me the way and gimme some clothes. I got these all sweaty and stinky." Lisa’s mood lightened considerable. Theresa lead her to the upstairs bathroom and handed her one of the guys Nirvana tee shirt. Theresa walked back down the hallway noticing Nick staring at the bathroom door.
"Kevin’s in the den. Be careful or you’re gonna get hurt. Lisa really likes you. So be good to her or Kevin won’t be the only one you have to worry about." Theresa warned, walking down the stairs without waiting for a reply from Nick.
Nick decided this was his only chance to talk to Lisa without being beaten to death. He slowly crept to down the hall, listening to the water start and tested the door, finding it unlocked.
