Chapter 3

"You should have seen him. He was so fine. We were making out on the couch, and all I can say is that, that boy has one very skilled tongue, whoa, and wow was he good. We’re meeting again Saturday." Carmen, a 23 year old goddess-like woman, with waist-length curly crimson hair, whispered loudly to the other four girls at the circular table in the cafeteria of the large office building. "So what about you, Steph? How was your night?"

"Um, let’s see, I met the guy of my dreams at the party you all abandoned me at, he left, I got mugged and the same guy saved my life and walked me home. My Prince Charming came to my rescue." Stephanie smiled softly, twirling a strand of hair around her finger.

"Is that all?" Theresa, a shorter blond of 20, teased, trying to sound serious, taking a sip of her ice tea. Steph just shrugged and continued to pick at her salad.

"Oh, was he cute? Did you kiss him?" Lisa, the tall, athletic brunette of 21, asked, tossing her empty yogurt cup into the trash.

"Yeah, we were dancing before he left the party, and he kissed me. I don’t know what happened but it was just that…" Stephanie tried to explain. "…explosion inside, I guess. He’s just so perfect for me, but I don’t even know the guy. I’m in love with a stranger."

"Are you gonna see him again?" Terri, a slender reddish-brunette of 21, asked, before gulping down the remaining liquid in her coke can.

"Yeah, we’re gonna meet tonight again. But last night was so weird, see he was kissing my neck and just stopped suddenly and ran off. Well, I walked inside, and here comes the weirdest part, I found a cut on my neck, right where he had been kissing." Stephanie lowered her voice slightly at the end of her sentence, watching each of her friends faces change from smiles to mild shock.

"So he bites? He’s defiantly a keeper. Woah, talk about kinky." Theresa smiled, playfully. Lisa and Terri instantly started cracking up loudly as Carmen just snickered softly and got up, leaving the girls’ to get back to her office.

"Yeah, sure Steph. He bit you, get real!" Lisa giggled, gasping for air.

"Then how do you explain this?" Stephanie muttered, pulling her hair off her neck, showing the three other girls the small vertical slit, only about an inch or two long.

"My God! He did that to you?" Terri exclaimed, examing her neck closely. Stephanie just nodded, mutely.

"Hey, maybe he’s a vampire, and wants to suck out all your blood." Theresa joked, lightening the mood a little.

"Yeah, right, get real Theresa! There is no such thing as vampires. I think you need to quit drinking vodka for breakfast." Stephanie joked back, giggling when Theresa stuck her tongue out.

"For your information, it’s part of a well-balanced breakfast!" She laughed, "So anyway, where are you and lover boy meeting?"

"At the west end of the park of all place. I think it’s kinda creepy out there, especially at night." Stephanie frowned slightly. "Why?"

"Oh, no reason, just asking. Just don’t forget your pepper-spray. I don’t want nothing to happen to ya. Uh-oh girls, here comes ‘Leonardo DiCraprio’ wannabe." Theresa muttered, referring to James Richman, their employer and Terri’s ex-fiancé. He stopped directly in front of the table and sat down, not caring whether he was welcome or not.

"Excuse me, Ladies, is Jillian Marks here? I had a meeting scheduled with her an hour ago and she never showed up or called in sick. Do you know what’s up? She’s never missed a day of work or a meeting with me." He stated, trying his hardest to ignore the deathly glares that Terri was giving him.

"Nope, I haven’t seen her." Lisa muttered, dislike thick in her voice. Jill may have appeared to be the sweet angelic one but when it came to getting what she wanted, which was usually a taken man, she became the demonic bitch from hell. That’s why almost all of the women at the office despised her, she flirted with the boss and was probably screwing him any chance she got, and never had the harder labors around the office.

"No, I saw her yesterday, talking to Mr. Hartman." Terri added, having the most reason to hate Jillian, since of course she lost her soon-to-be husband to her. Theresa just shrugged and shook her head.

"I saw her at the party last night, she left with…" Stephanie paused, her eyes dropping to the ground as she recalled who it was.

"Who?" the other four around her said in unison.

"Some guy I didn’t know." She lied, swallowing the knot in her throat. Brian and his friend had led Jill out while she was obviously drunk. Brian had some questions to answer tonight.

"Well, I guess I’ll try her cell-phone again." James said, standing and leaving as quickly as he had come.

"You didn’t recognize the guy?" Terri asked, getting ready to head back to her office.

"Just some guy I hadn’t seen before…" she said. ‘With Brian.’ She added silently. "She was drunk when she left, so she’s probably just got a hangover and isn’t even up yet."

"Or she could still be chained to whoever it was bed and having the fuck of her life." Theresa giggled slightly. No one laughed with her, Stephanie and Terri both shot her very unhappy glances and she quieted. "Sorry."

**Later that Night**

Brian kept his eyes to the ground. ‘What am I doing! I want her, but the only way to have her is to kill her.’ His mind battled with his heart fiercely, but it was a futile battle. Brian knew he needed her and she needed him to be complete. They would be together somehow, no matter what.
