Mother's Day
<<<Erna's Mother's Day Collection>>>
Last year, we gathered little baby food jars, one per child. Then, we used
podge glue to cover the bottles. The children then put the tissue paper onto
the jars to make colourful little flower holders. We then purchased some soil
and small flowers to put into the baby food jars. It was a nice little gift for
mom's on mother's day. (You could also stick a small votive candle in one of
these too)
We've also purchased gardening gloves and made carrot prints on them using the
rectangular sponges used for make-up application. Then, using a brush, we
painted the tops of the carrots with green.
Here's a poem I received from my supervising teacher in a Co-op placement... it
goes along nicely with a handprint made in clay... it says,
Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small.
I'm always leaving fingerprints
On furniture and walls.
But everyday I'm growing
And I'll be grown someday.
Then all these tiny handprints
Will surely fade away.
So here's a painted keepsake
That one day you'll recall
Exactly how my handprint was
When I was very small!
In that co-op class, we also attached a doily to a straw and placed scrunched up
tissue paper on top of the doily and a cotton ball in the middle to make a
flower.
