Chapter 2~ I Do

"Oh my gosh, Marissa! I'm so scared! Is he here yet?" I asked my best friend, Marissa. "Girl, I'm sure he is. Do you want me to go check?" she said. I nodded and started twirling my hair. I always did that when I was nervous. A few minutes later Marissa returned, along with my five other bridesmaids. Marissa, my sisters Madison and Heather, my cousin Whitney and my friends Jessica and Lindsay, were all my bridesmaids. Brian and I both decided not to have a maid of honor and a best man because there were too many people to choose from and we didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. "Well?!?!" I asked, almost pulling my hair out. "Calm down, babe. He's outside talking to his brother," Madison said, fixing my veil. "My goodness, Kennedy, you are beautiful," she sighed, looking at me. Madison is my little sister (she's seventeen) and she's always looked up to me. "Thank you," I said, hugging her. That's when I started crying. ____________________________________________________________________________ "I, Brian Thomas Littrell, take you, Kennedy Hayden Carson, to be my lawfully wedded wife, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as we both shall live," Brian said, gazing deeply into my eyes. He slipped my wedding band onto my finger, took my hand, and we faced the minister. "Do you, Kennedy Hayden Carson, take Brian Thomas Littrell to be your husband?" the minister asked me. I squeezed Brian's hand and said, "I do." I hadn't realized it, but I had been holding my breath, and I exhaled deeply. "Do you, Brian Thomas Littrell, take Kennedy Hayden Carson to be your wife?" he asked. Brian squeezed my hand back. "I do," he answered. "By the power invested in me, by the witness of God and in this state of Kentucky, I pronounce you, kennedy and Brian, husband and wife," the minister said. Brian turned towards me and stared at me; his blue eyes blazing through my soul. "I love you," he whispered, lifting my veil. I closed me eyes and nodded, letting him kiss me. After we parted, everyone stood up and cheered. I noticed my dad crying, and Brian's mom, Jackie, crying as well. Brian took my hand and led me back down the aisle. ______________________________________________________________________________ Later that night we were all sitting at the head table at the reception. Brian was to my left, and my bridesmaids were to my right. Brian's ushers, Nick, Kevin, AJ, Howie and Brian's brother Harold were sitting to his left. Then, Nick stood up and tapped his glass. Everyone in the dining hall quieted down to hear what he had to say. "Well, Brian man, what can I say? We've been best friends for ten years, we have been through thick and thin together," he said. Then he looked at me. "Kennedy, you are very lucky to have B-Rok. Take good care of him; I know he'll take good care of you," he finished, setting his glass down. Brian got up and hugged him, then Nick hugged me. "I have one more thing to do. In the spirit of weddings and love, I think this is the most appropriate time to do this," he said, walking towards Marissa. He got down on one knee and proposed! Marissa was in tears (but with a diamond on her hand!), everyone was clapping and cheering, and Nick was beaming. I was so happy for him and her. I guess Brian and I weren't the only ones burning to say "I do."
