Chapter 4~ Three Days Left

"Nicky, are we going to be as happy as Ken and Brian?" I asked. Nick turned around and looked at me. "Of course we are!" he said, walking towards me. He took the lei from around his neck and out it over my head. We were on our honeymoon in Hawaii, on the beach. Nick loves the beach. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I put my arms around his neck. He leaned down and kissed me, but we were interrupted by a girl. "Excuse me, aren't you Nick Carter?" she asked. He turned to her and smiled. She couldn't have been more than eight years old, and she was obviously a Hawaiian native, because of her jet black hair and dark skin. "Yes I am," he answered, squatting down to her level. "Can I have your autograph?" she asked, holding out a piece of paper and a pen. "Of course. What's your name?" he asked, taking the cap off the pen. "Kaya," she answered. "To Kaya, the most beautiful girl in all of Hawaii. Love, Nick Carter," he said as he wrote. Kaya beamed proudly at Nick's compliment. He handed her the paper and pen and smiled. "Thank you so much!" she answered, giving him a hug. He hugged her back and waved as she ran off to her parents. "But you are the most beautiful girl in the whole world," he said, turning to me and planting a kiss on my forehead. "Nick, that was so sweet of you. I didn't realize how good you are with kids," I said laughing. He looked at me and pouted. "Why is it funny?" he asked. That made me laugh even more. "Nicky, you are going to make a great dad," I said, kissing his nose. "I hope you aren't trying to tell me something," he said slowly. I just stared at him for a minute, not understanding what he was saying. "Oh! No, baby! Not NOW at least!" I answered, finally comprehending. He smiled. "Good, because we've only been married two days!" he said, taking my hand. He led me to the ocean line, picked me up, slung me over his shoulder and waded out to his knees. "Nickolas Carter, I swear if you drop me..." I said, but I was too late. He released me and I fell into the water. I quickly stood up and brushed my wet hair out of my face. "Nick!" I yelled. He lauhged and lunged for me, but I was too quick for him. He fell forward and I dunked him under the water. This continued for about ten minutes, then we decided to go get something to eat. ___________________________________________________________________________ "Mare, about what we were talking about earlier," he said, taking a sip of his pop. "What do you think?" "What do you mean?" I asked, wiping my mouth with my napkin. The waiter came and left us our bill. "On the beach, when we were talking about kids," he said, taking out a credit card. "Well, I mean, eventually, I hope," I said, looking at him blankly. "I mean, how long are we going to wait?" he asked. I started to say something, but his cell phone rang. He glanced at the phone and answered it. "What's up Bri?... Yeah, caller ID... Yeah, it's great... WHEN?... Man, I've only been here a day, and you're telling me NOW?... Damn it... Yeah, okay. Mare won't be happy... Okay I'll call you later... Bye," he said, hanging up. "What won't I like?" I asked. The waiter came back and took the bill and Nick's card. "Oh, great news!" he said sarcastically. "We leave for Germany in three days," he said quietly. "Three days! Nick! We just got married and you're already going on tour?" I said. "Baby, I'm sorry, but they added a one month leg to finish up the Fall tour," he explained, taking my hands in his. "For how long?" I asked. "One month, two weeks," he answered. "Well, Nick, we talked about this before we got married, and I agreed to be supportive and reasonable, so that's exactly what I'm going to be," I replied. He looked at me and flashed his million dollar smile, which, of course, made me melt. "Sweetie, I love you. You can come, you know," he said. "Baby, I can't. There is no way I can take off and not get fired," I answered. (AN~ Marissa is an elementary school teacher.) "Well, we have three days together. What do you wanna do?" he asked, signing the reciept on the bill. We stood up and he took my hand in his and led me out into the hot Hawaiian sun. "Baby, if we only have three days until you're going to be gone for a month and a half, we better have some fun," I said. I stood on my toes and whispered in his ear, "If you know what I mean." He smiled and raised his eyebrows. "Hmmm, no, I'm a little confused. I think you'll have to show me," he said, wrapping his arms around my waist. I kissed him deeply. When we parted I took his hand and led him across the street to our hotel.
