Chapter 6~ Time To Find Out

"Ugghh, I swear, if I look at food every again, I'll throw up," I said, turning the TV off. "Marissa, are you sure me staying here until the guys get back is okay?" I asked. "Of course! They'll be back in two weeks, and we've been having fun! Why not just stay until they get back," she said. "Are you sure you're okay?" she contunied. "Yeah, I think it was the pizza," I answered, placing my hand on my stomach. "I swear, ever since you and Nick started dating, you have been a pizza addict!" I laughed. "I know! He's gonna make me fat!" she replied. We both started laughing, but suddenly I felt like I had to be sick. I got up off her couch and ran into the bathroom. "Ken, are you okay?" she said through the door. I got up off the floor and washed my face. "Yeah, I think I'll go to bed, though," I answered. "Okay. If Brian calls do you want me to wake you up?" she said. "Yeah, thanks," I smiled at her and went upstairs. I hit the bed and was out. ____________________________________________________________________________ "Yeah, Mom, I'm sure I'm fine," I said. I had woken up three hours ago and couldn't get back to sleep, so I called my mom. "Okay, Kennedy. Umm, Kennedy?" she asked. "Yeah?" "Sweetie, have you been feeling sick just all of a sudden?" she asked. "Well, yeah, it kind of hit me like a truck three days ago," I answered. "Kennedy, is there a possibility you could be...?" she started. "Oh my gosh," I whispered, putting my hand to my mouth. "Mom, you could be right. Hey, I have to go. I'll call you tomorrow," I said. "Okay, sweetie. Good-bye," she said. "Bye," I hung up. "Marissa!" I called. "Yeah?" she asked, coming into the studio (where I had been talking to my mom). "I'm going to the grocery. Do you want me to get anything?" I asked, picking up my purse. "Yeah, could you get some milk?" she asked, looking at me strangely. "Yes. Okay, bye," I said, hurrying out of the room to the garage. I opened the door to mine and Brian's BMW and headed to the store. ____________________________________________________________________________ "EPT, Fact Plus, oh gosh," I breathed, looking at the selections in front of me. I picked up an EPT box and threw it in the basket. "Excuse me, are you finding everything you're looking for?" the pharmacist asked me. "Yes, thank you. Actually, how accurate is this?" I asked, picking the box up. "It should say on the back panel. I think that one is 99%," she asnwered. I flipped the box over and scanned the cover. 99%. "Thank you," I said, walking towards the check out line. ____________________________________________________________________________ "Ugghh, how long does this damn thing take?!" I screamed, kicking my heels against my bed. I glanced over at the clock. Two more minutes. I fell back into the blanket and stared at the ceiling. I began haveing daydreams about me and Brian, and the family we would have if this thing came out positive. I imagined Brian pushing a little girl, about 4 years old, in a swing in our back yard, and then imagined him showing a boy, about eight years old, how to shoot a basketball. I invisioned him sitting on the couch in our new house, with a newborn baby in his arms, tickling his or her nose. I was snapped back into reality when I heard the front door to Marissa's house slam. She was home! I glanced back at the clock. The two minutes was up. I got up and slowly walked to the bathroom, stopping at the door. I stared at the white stick, but I coudn't see the results. I exhaled loudly. "I guess it's time to find out."
