"Hello? Michelle answered the phone. She had just gotten back from her daily two mile run, and she was so out of breath. "Michelle? Baby, what's wrong?" a voice asked. "Brian! Nothing--I just got back from running. What's up?" she said, plopping down on the couch. "Nothing. I miss you," he said. She smiled. "I miss you, too. Where are you?" "Umm, some arena in Texas," Brian answered. "I called to tell you that the concert is being taped live tonight on MTV, so watch me, okay?" he asked. "You know I will. I'll even tape it, so I can watch you whenever you aren't with me," she said quietly. "Okay, babe. I have to go warm up with Fatima now, so I'll call you tomorrow," he said. "Okay," she said. "Bye, baby," he said. "Bye." ______________________________________________________________________________ "Shut up, everybody! The concert is starting!" Katie yelled. The four girls had gathered at Katie's apartment to watch it. "Make sure the VCR is recording!" Michelle yelled from the kitchen. She walked back into the living room with a coke in her hand and positioned herself on the floor by the TV. Katie was on the couch, and Lorie was next to her. Caitlyn was still in the kitchen, but came out and sat by Michelle. The concert started and the girls sat in silence, watching "their boys." About an hour into the concert, Brian stepped up to the middle front of the stage. The audience went completely silent. Michelle felt her heart skip a beat, like something amazing was going to happen... _____________________________________________________________________________ Brian stood on the stage looking into the audience. His heart was racing, but he knew it was time. "Ladies and gentlemen, I have a special announcement, but I need your help. Remember what we worked on before the show? Well it's time to do it!" he yelled. The crowd started to scream and cheer. "Okay. wait just a minute," he said. Brian walked to the side of the stage and took a cell phone from a bodyguard. Her nervously began to punch in the number to Michelle's cell phone. ___________________________________________________________________________ "Michelle, your phone is ringing!" Katie screamed. Michelle couldn't move. What was he doing? "Michelle, answer it!" Caitlyn yelled. She slowly reached for her purse and took her silver phone out. "Hello?" she said. She kept her eyes glued to the TV. She watched Brian hold the phone out into the audience and point to an upper level crowd. They screamed "I." He pointed to the left side of the arena. They screamed "Love." He pointed to the right side of the arena. They screamed "You." He pointed to the floor seats in front of him. They screamed "Michelle!" They arena started to scream and cheer but Brian shushed them. He put the phone back to his ear and took the microphone off the other ear so nobody could hear him say what he had to say, except Nick, who was standing about ten feet away. (AN- The mic was one of those no-hands-required ones) "Did you hear that baby? I love you. I thought it was about time you knew," he whispered. Michelle just kept staring at the TV, tears forming in her eyes. ____________________________________________________________________________ "Michelle? Honey are you there?" Brian asked worridly. "Yeah, baby, I'm here!" Michelle said. She started bawling. "I love you, too," she whispered. The crowd stared at Brian in anticipation. He looked out into the crowd and coyly smiled. "She loves me, too!" he said. The arena erupted in screams and cheers once more. He laughed, as did Michelle. Brian handed the phone back to a security guard. "Michelle, my name is Tony. Brian just gave me the phone, because they have a concert to get on with. Congratulations. Bye," the guy said. ______________________________________________________________________________ "No! I wanted to..." she stared at the phone in disbelief. The guy had hung up on her! "Tell him I love him again," she finished. She hung up her own phone. She was then tackled by three girls, laughing and screaming. "Michelle! He loves you!" "Michelle, he said it on NATIONAL TV!" "Michelle! You said you love him back!" That last one made Michelle laugh. "Yeah, I do love him," she thought to herself.
