Chapter 32
"How about we all go to a club or something," Brian suggested. Everyone was gathered at the apartment the next night trying to figure out what to do. Cassie was actually spending some time with them since Luis had to leave for the weekend to go to a family member's funeral.
"I'm up for that. We haven't gone clubbing for a couple of months now," AJ said.
"So does everyone agree?" Kevin asked. Everyone said yes. Kristen went into the bathroom to redo her make-up when there was a knock on the bathroom door. Kristen opened it to see AJ standing there.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?" he asked.
"Sure, come on in. What's the matter?"
"I was just worried about you."
"In what way?" Kristen asked.
"Well, what are you going to do about school and your job?"
"AJ you know that I lost my job. I didn't show up for a month and a half. They aren't going to let me go back to work. And I missed too much school to get caught up."
"Summer school at the college starts in a couple of weeks. Go and you could get caught up. That way everything that you did wasn't a waste."
"To tell you the truth AJ I don't think I'm going to go back to school."
"What? Schooling is so important Kristen. You can't just give it up after what happened."
"It's not that. It's just, I've been out of work so long that....." Kristen began when AJ knew where she was headed and interrupted her.
"If it's cause you can't afford it I'll be happy to help you out."
"I can't take your money from you."
"I'm not asking you to take it. It's too help you out. You need to go back to school."
"Listen, I'm going to get a new job and I'll start again next semester, it's no big deal."
"Okay, but you promise you'll go back to school."
"I promise," Kristen said giving AJ a kiss on the cheek.
"Are you two ready to go?" Cassie asked coming into the bathroom.
"Yeah, let's go," Kristen said.
"You look absolutely fabulous as usual," Nick said walking behind Kristen and putting his arms around her.
"As do you Carter," Kristen replied giving him a kiss. They took a couple of cars and all met at the club. When they got there it was about ten o'clock and the place was packed. When they got inside Toni pulled Kristen to the side to talk to her.
"I have to ask you something and I hope you don't get mad at me for asking," Toni said.
"Well, ask and you'll find out," Kristen responded.
"Well, as you know I'm totally falling for your boyfriend," Toni began.
"And that is what I'm supposed to be mad about? It's nothing new. I know how you are girl."
"I know but anyways I was wondering if you would let me dance one dance with him. Please Kristen I'm begging you. I won't try and steal him away or anything cause I'm not like that but please!"
"Toni, chill out. He's allowed to dance with other girls as long as he doesn't get fresh with them."
"Thank you so much! This means a lot to me. You know it really sucks that you have to be dating him. But I guess it's good for you and him."
"Aren't you two ladies going to dance?" Howie asked coming up to Toni and Kristen.
"Of course," Kristen replied. Howie led the two girls out to the dance floor. Howie began dancing with Toni while Kristen pulled Kevin on the dance floor and began dancing with him.
"This is just a little too weird for me," Toni said to Howie.
"Why?"
"I still think it's weird that I'm friends with you guys."
"We're just normal guys Toni like you and Kristen are just normal girls."
"I know but I would usually want more than friendships with you guys but I'm enjoying every minute of just being friends."
"You mean to tell me that if you had the chance to go out with Nick you would pass up the opportunity?" Howie asked.
"Oh hell no! But I'm beginning to like Nick for who he is inside instead of how I used to think he was inside if that makes any sense."
"It does just don't tell Kristen. She might get a little upset."
"Oh she knows. I already said something to her about."
"How about some beers," AJ asked bringing the two of them cups full of beer.
"Thanks, man," Howie said.
"No prob. Just don't drink too much cause don't guarantee on me being the sober driver."
"AJ I wouldn't let you drive if you had half a cup of alcohol in your system."
"That's cold but I'll see ya later I need to find me a girl to dance with."
"Later Bone." After about two hours Nick had a lot of alcohol in his system and he was out on the floor dancing with Kristen. Kristen felt like it was déjà vu all over again from the party they went to and he got drunk. Nick was all over Kristen on the dance floor.
"Nick, stop it please," Kristen told him.
"What's wrong?" Nick asked drunk.
"You know I don't like the way you are towards me when you're drunk."
"So you're saying you don't like me touching you?" Nick asked with an additude.
"I do when you're sober just not drunk."
"Fine then," Nick said walking away in a pissed off mood. Kevin went up to Kristen with an also drunk Cassie hanging on him.
"What's the matter with Nick?" he asked.
"He's drunk and pissed off at me. Can you please go get his car keys from him. I think he's leaving and I don't want him driving."
"Sure. I'll take him and Cassie home if you want."
"No, that's okay. There's no point in ruining all of our fun because they are drunk. We'll just get them a cab."
"Alright." Cassie leaned up against Kristen while Kevin went and got Nick and took his keys away from him. They got Nick and Cassie into a cab and gave the cab driver money and directions to both of their houses. Kristen and Kevin went back inside where the others were. The rest of the night Kristen dance with AJ since Nick wasn't there. At about two in the morning everyone decided to call it a night. Everyone went over to Kristen's to just hang out for a little while since no one was tired.
"You know we definitely need to do this more often," AJ said when they walked through the door.
"I disagree. One night like this every once in awhile is good but it will wear me out to death if I go more than that," Angela said.
"I agree with Angie. I'll be right back guys. I'm going to go check on Cassie and see if she's doing okay," Kristen said. Kristen walked to her and Cassie's room and opened the door. It was too dark so Kristen walked to the lamp on the night stand and turned it on. She stood there as if she were paralyzed by what her eyes had seen in Cassie's bed.
