Chapter 34
The next morning Kristen woke up to someone sitting down on the bed beside her. She opened her eyes to see Toni sitting next to her.
"Hey home slice. Feeling better?" Toni asked her.
"Home slice?" Kristen asked tiredly.
"Yeah it's my new vocab I thought I'd use for the day. Anyways you need to get up and get ready."
"Why?"
"Because we are all going out today and you are coming with us."
"Toni I'm not in the mood. I think I'll just stay in bed all day."
"Please, I really want you to go out with us," Toni pleaded.
"Thanks for the offer but I really don't want to go."
"Alright but get up and get ready for the hell of it. AJ is cooking us all breakfast so hurry it up please," Toni said leaving the room. She went into the kitchen to help AJ cook.
"AJ I decided something a couple of days ago," Toni said hopping up to sit on the counter.
"What's that?" AJ asked.
"I've decided to move here, to Orlando. I could get a job and save up some money to get my own apartment. Kristen and I could probably share the apartment since she isn't going to want to go back to live with Cassie. So what do you think?"
"I think it's a great idea. It would be nice to have you around. Plus Kristen really needs you. You're the only best friend she's got right now." Toni and AJ finished cooking breakfast and got the table set for the three of them when they heard something break coming from Kristen's room. They ran to her room and opened the door to find Kristen laying on the floor curled up in a ball crying her eyes out. On the other side of the room there was broken glass on the floor with a picture of her and Nick in a half busted frame in the middle of it. Kristen had taken the framed photo of the two of them and threw it at the wall causing the glass to shatter. Toni went up to Kristen and sat her up and put her arms around her. Kristen shoved her away causing her to fall back since she was on her knees. Toni sat there shocked. AJ went over to them and helped Toni to her feet.
"Try not to take it personally. She didn't mean it," AJ whispered into Toni's ear. "Can you please clean up the glass?" Toni nodded her head and went and started cleaning up the mess. AJ wrapped his arms around Kristen while she tried to shove him away. He was too strong for her and continued holding her tightly until she gave into him. She sat there crying into his shoulder.
"He said he loved me!" Kristen screamed.
~1 Week Later~
"AJ what are we supposed to do?" Toni asked. "This is getting serious with Kristen. She's tearing herself apart because of Nick. This isn't normal. I mean, I helped her take a shower a couple of hours ago and she's getting too thin. She was small already weighing just above a hundred pounds and she doesn't look like she weighs even that." During the past week Kristen had practically stayed in her room all the time except for meals. Even then AJ could barely get her to eat anything. He was lucky if he could get a slice of bread down her a day.
"I know, I've noticed," AJ said. "I think that she should get some counciling."
"What if that doesn't work?"
"Then she'll have to be admitted into a hospital if she doesn't at least start eating." Kristen had gotten up and was walking down the hall to use the bathroom when she heard Toni and AJ talking. She sat down on the floor since she was too weak to stand for long periods of time and listened to their whole conversation about her. Tears started coming out of her eyes because it hurt for her to hear her friends talking about how she needed help. She got up and went into the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror looking at herself. She continued to stand there looking at her reflection in the mirror. She closed her eyes and reopened them hoping to see the Kristen that she really was. But when she opened them she saw the same person. All she could think about was how terrible she looked and she couldn't do this to herself and to her friends who loved her any longer. She decided that she needed to fix her life.
That night when Kristen knew that AJ and Toni were asleep she got out of her bed and made her way into the kitchen. She pulled out the bread and some ham and cheese and began making herself a sandwich to eat. Her stomach had shrunk so bad that she could only eat about a fourth of it before she couldn't eat any more. She wrapped the sandwich up and placed it in the refrigerator for later. She went walking back to her room when she noticed a picture of all of the guys together on the wall. She didn't pay attention to the other guys in the picture only Nick. She realized something right then.
"I have to see and talk to him," she said out loud to herself.
